2018 MAZDA CX-5 Fuelpropulsion System Problems

The radio changes stations by itself, speakers/music goes in and out. The screen freezes and cannot change stations. And also the car lags on taking off sometimes. Often smells like fuel when you turn on the car, Assuming a fuel pump issue, not sure. I spoke to the salesman who sold me the car (adam) within less than 30 days of having the vehicle and told me the electrical issue with radio would be covered. Then when I called to have the issue fixed I was told it wasnt going to fixed on their behalf. This car was sold to me with a few issue that I was not aware at the time of purchase.

Car has a ticking sound when in idle mode. My mechanic sent me a few videos to reference and a bulletin from Mazda that attributes the clicking to the Hydraulic Lash Adjuster

Constant ticking sound coming from engine, most apparent while idling but continues even after oil change and engine warm up. Goes away for short periods of time. Always comes back and is very loud. Sometimes engine block shakes and can be felt through the steering wheel.

This car that I financed on [XXX] 2024 has been back to the dealership over 6 times. My car loses power on the freeway and all main roads. I push the gas pedal and nothing happens so I am forced to pull over and turn the car off and restart it again. It's very dangerous when I'm merging on the freeway and I cannot accelerate and have to pull over in traffic. Despite a recall on the fuel pump, there continues to be a problem but instead of the “back” fuel pump that was fixed, the “front” fuel pump seems to be having the same issue. When taken to the dealer, the code P0087- fuel rail/system pressure too low shows up. This is causing car to stall, unable to pick up speed or simply pick up too much speed when attempting to accelerate. It’s a safety hazard for a car less than 6 years old.

The cylinder head and timing cover are leaking oil and need to be replaced. It is at the dealer and available for inspection. The car started smoking and lost oil obscuring my vision. The problem appears to be well known by the dealer and they were able to diagnose the issue. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealer where I purchased it. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. This vehicle has had regular maintenance per the manufacturers specifications since it was purchased new.

Vehicle engine has stalled multiple times at low speeds. Vehicle will not restart immediately. In order to get vehicle to restart, gas must be revved while pressing start button to get engine to restart. It appears as if fuel is not being delivered to engine. Electrical components remain functional. Vehicle was inspected by dealer and issue could not be recreated. No issues were found. No warning lights displayed or codes found upon inspection. No symptoms of problem; occurrence is sporadic. It has caused traffic and safety hazards due to stalling in roadways.

This vehicle has stalled out while driving at least 4-5 times since purchasing it in 2018, although issues started about 2020 or 2021. It usually starts with the radio console either malfunctioning or going dead completely while I’m driving and several minutes later (usually after stopping at a red light but sometimes while actively driving) the car stalls out in the middle of traffic. It starts up after few minutes but it’s a very dangerous situation. It also sometimes hesitates when putting my foot on the gas, as if there’s a fuel injection problem. I already got all the recalls fixed but there’s obviously other significant problems with this vehicle. If it causes me to get injured I will be taking legal action.

After driving for approximately 1 minute, the vehicle approached a stop sign and car stalled and would not restart. When attempting to restart vehicle, engine was firing but not turning over. Attempted to jump start the vehicle with no success until vehicle was given throttle at which point it restarted. No lights were illuminated prior to the incident, but when the vehicle stalled the battery light and check engine light illuminated.

MAGNA MOTORS IN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS THE FUEL PUMP RECALL ON MY 2018 MAZDA CX-5. THEY CLAIM THERE ARE NO PARTS TO FIX IT SO THEY CANT HELP ME. MY VEHICLE DOESNT START HALF THE TIME AND THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE A LOANER UNTIL MINE IS FIXED. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THEY CAN DO.

Fuel pump. The mechanics at the Mazda dealership brushed me off when I brought up the open recall on my vehicle. However, according to them it is a "preliminary recall," the mechanic said it wasn't an "open recall." This is my first vehicle and I stupidly put my trust into the mechanic and believed his words. I am not well-versed in vehicles but after extensive research, asking a friend, and referring to a VPC agent who deals with recalls on vehicles; it turns out there is no such thing as a preliminary recall outside of Mazda's definition. I told the mechanic it was an open recall and that I need to ship the vehicle to Hawaii and the shipping company can refuse service if there is an open recall. Follow up! I originally posted I thought this was an engine issue. However, after reading about the huge recall with Mazda due to a faulty Denso fuel pump I quickly realized this is 100% issue. This causes my car to stall on the highway and stop accelerating at 65mph. Huge safety issue! Many other car dealers have been hit with too. However, my VIN is not part of the recall. There are claims on court docs there are more vehicles part of this recall than what Mazda is owning up to. I find it hard to believe I am the only one. Mazda pony up and do the right thing for your consumers.

There is no recall on this which is a huge safety issue. This has happened to me on highway several times and Mazda will not do anything about it. Very dangerous when you are going 65 on a highway! TSB Number 01-007/19- misfire P0304- of 4th cylinder. Recommendation to replace main silencer due to condensation accumulation in the exhaust baffle. Please search the TSB and misfire code I provided to learn more about it. If you are out of warranty. You are out of luck with Mazda. I will take upon myself to educate others where Mazda could careless to correct this or let the public now.

Neither you nor Mazda has notified me about the current recall with the Fuel Pump. I've heard about it months ago from web sites that aren't supposed to notify me. Both you and Mazda have never notified me. Mazda was supposed to send out notices to the car owners 3 weeks ago. Why aren't I hearing about this?

My vehicle has an open recall that poses a safety risk for myself and all passengers. I spoke with Mazda Service Department/Dealer in my area and they stated that Mazda would not have these parts available until summer of 2022. The service department also stated “the vehicle is completely safe to drive”. I am wary of this response as a potential stalled engine is a major safety risk for myself and all passengers. MAZDA will also start mailing out recall letters by January 22nd, which is a huge delay in response. This is unacceptable and I am wary about driving the vehicle. Please let me know what are my options here.

The vehicle stall at very low speed in a parking lot could not restart it was turning over the battery was fine came back 3 hours later and was able to start

2018 MAZDA CX-5 WHEN I CHECK THE OIL IT IS EXTREMELY OVER FULL AND STRONG ODOR OF GAS WHEN THE DIPSTICK IS PULLED OUT TO BE WIPED OFF. IT IS LIKE 4 INCHES ABOVE THE MAX MARK/ OIL IS VERY THIN.
