The dash displayed multiple warning ICONS and I carried the Jeep to a mechanic. They discovered that the ABS Module, which is the anti braking system, had a fault error and needed to be replaced. After multiple attempts have found out that this particular ABS Module, OEM Part number (68145835AE) is no longer available by Jeep Chrysler and has not been available for the past few years. This means the Jeep is not safe to drive if the roads are wet or icy due to the possibility of loosing the brakes from skidding/loss of control of the vehicle.
THE 2012 Jeep 4 door Wrangler had the ABS Control Module internal error failure, this makes the car unsafe to drive. The dealer cannot get repair parts, the car is un-repaired since October 2025. Further, they cannot source the chips for the components, the make cannot provide a delivery date.(UNKNOWN when this will be rectified. Other years of this car have been recalled for this issue. This year has not yet. PLEASE Help us !)
In 2020 I bought this Jeep, within the first 3 months I had to replace the TIPM, at $950.00, now 5 years later the same problem, the TIPM is having issues again. Causing the engine to overheat. Jeep is telling me this happens, not at $950 every 5 years, I was told there was a recall initially when they were new. There has to be some sort of recourse, you just can’t sell faulty parts and say it just happens! The 2012 jeep jk wrangler has serious electrical issues. The jeep randomly stalls while driving and sometimes won’t start at all. Right before it stalls, every light on the dashboard flashes and continues to flash until the car dies. Replacing the battery doesn’t fix the issue. Numerous complaints about jeep wranglers TIPM issues have been ignored by authorities. I suppose people will have to die in a crash or spends thousands fixing the TIPM or electrical issues before getting relief.
Clockspring failed causing airbag to malfunction. Jeep dealer ordered a replacement in April 2023 and still has not received the part(even though they have one in stock the manufacturer will not allow them to use and install the stock clockspring). We have been forced to drive the vehicle without an operating clockspring which creates a major safety hazard since the airbags may not deploy on impact.
The vehicle will die while driving it, it is a automatic so you loose power steering power brakes and the engine is completely shut off you have to safely pull over and not get hit to put vehicle in park sometimes it starts in park, sometime it just turns over and you have to wait 10 to 15 minutes for vehicle to start. Dealer keeps telling me there is no issue with the vehicle, and they cannot replicate issue. I fear for me and my family's life every day in my jeep wrangler.
Starting out at a stop light, engaging the clutch to start moving, I depressed the clutch to shift into second gear while making a turn, the vehicle stalls, losing all power.

Becoming the new owner in 2021, I was issued a recall for the passenger airbag inflator replacement. After repairing this recall, the vehicle air bag light came on and has not turned off since. I made several attempts with dearlership to access the problem and in May 2022 the dealership diagnosed the problem stating it was the airbag clockspring. This clockspring had a recall on it in June 2016 and was replaced in September 2016. The dealership along with another AMS certified mechanics shop stated the clockspring that was replaced in 2016 is defective. This is causing multiple safety issues with the vehicle. The anti skid system activates, the anti lock braking is activated, the cruise control will not operate, along with the fact the air bags are inoperable or not operating at full capacity as they are required to.
Random Stalling while driving, making a left-hand turn. While entering an intersection, the vehicle stalled losing all power. Was able to coast to a safe spot. Waited 15 min, the vehicle started. No check engine light.
MY JEEP IS NOW STALLING MID DRIVE WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL. 3 TIMES IT'S HAPPENED WHILE TURNING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD TO STOP AND GO AROUND ME. I'VE HAD 2 MECHANICS LOOK AT IT AND NEITHER OF THEM CAN FIND AN ISSUE. RPMS GO TO ZERO AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. THE ONLY WAY TO RESET IT IS TO PUT IT IN PARK, TURN THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. OUTSIDE OF THOSE 3 TIMES IT'S HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND TURNING ONTO A STREET OR INTO A PARKING LOT - THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON TO WHAT WILL TRIGGER IT. I'VE READ QUITE A FEW FORUMS WHERE THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY!! I WENT FROM FEELING CAREFREE IN MY JEEP TO KEEPING BOTH OF MY HANDS...
MY JEEP WRANGLER 2012 JKU WILL SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE RUNNING. I HAVE A 18 MONTH OLD THAT RIDES IN THE BACKSEAT AND THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES THAT I HAVE FELT VERY UNSAFE FOR HIS LIFE AND MINE. I HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERIES AS I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE ISSUE. NOW I AM SURE IT IS THE TIPM IS FAULTY. MY JEEP HAS UNDER 60K MILES ON IT. 2012 JEEP WRANGLER JK CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY, CIRCUIT IS OPEN CAUSING AIR BAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE AND POSSIBLE ISSUES DEPLOYING AIR BAG IN EVENT OF A CRASH. SAME ISSUE AS PREVIOUS MY JKS. AIR BAG LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED, SOMETIMES STAYING ON OR TURNING BACK OFF. ALSO SEEMS TO BE HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY DURING COOL WEATHER (LESS THAN 60 DEGREES F).
CAR COMPLETELY DIES WHEN SITTING IDLE. I BELIEVE THE CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY AND I HAVE HEARD MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. MY 15 MONTH OLD SON WAS IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IT SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME TO BE SITTING AT A MAJOR STOPLIGHT AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIE. I WAS SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AND SCARED FOR MY SON'S SAFETY. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL RIGHT NOW. JEEP LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD AND THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS. IVE HAD TO STOP AND PULL BATTERY POWER TERMINAL OFF MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESET IT. CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO GO, INCLUDING HORN, AIR BAG LIGHT, HANDS FREE CONTROLS. MECHANIC AND RESEARCH DONE INDICATES IT'S THE CLOCK SPRING. THIS IS A LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLE. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL ON THE RIGHT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES FROM THIS YEAR.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILURE. REPAIRS MADE TO WIRING, AND REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHT INSTALLED. LAMP STILL ONLY WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. AFFECTING LOW LIGHT VISIBILITY. POTENTIALLY AN ISSUE WITH TIPM WHICH HAS LEAD TO OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES, SUCH AS TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING. HAS CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE, AND CONTROL FAILURE IN OTHER VEHICLES. HAPPENS AT ANY TIME, STATIONARY, MOVING, FWD, REVERSE, TURNING, ETC.
NOTHING ON STEERING WHEEL WORKS. NO HORN NO STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS NOTHING. APPARENT CLOCKSPRING FAILURE AS MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME.
DRIVING HOME EVERY LIGHT ON MY DASH STARTED BLINKING, NO RPM, NO SPEEDOMETER. BLINKERS DID NOT WORK. WHEN I TURNED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, PARKED AND I TURNED THE KEY BUT JEEP DID NOT TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE MY KEY OUT AND THE JEEP STAYED RUNNING FOR A MINUTE THEN TURNED OFF. JEEP WOULD NOT RESTART.

UNDER HARD ACCELERATION, LIKE PASSING A CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE WHICH HAS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO WRECK 4 TO 5 TIMES DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT CALLED SCOTT ROBINSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (20900 HAWTHORNE BLVD, TORRANCE, CA 90503, (424) 299-8800) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WOULD COST $1,300. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500.

THE VEHICLE WILL JUST STALL ON A CITY STREET, IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, OR EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. FUEL WAS NOT RELATED AS IT HAS HAPPENED ON A FULL TANK OF GAS OR A QUARTER TANK. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS (THAT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED) BECAUSE OF THIS DANGEROUS HAZARD, AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE SO IT WAS NEVER FIXED. I EVEN SHOWED THEM VIDEO EVIDENCE 3 TIMES. THE VEHICLE JUST STALLS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING (IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC). THE RPM WOULD JUST GO TO ZERO, AND WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR BACK UP, IT WOULD TRY TO CRANK, BUT WOULD NOT START. THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF FOR 5...

THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO ACCURACY AUTOMOTIVE (4036 S MAIN ST, MURRAY, UT 84107, 801-266-3609) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.
ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN MY STEERING WHEEL WENT OUT, THE HORN STOPPED WORKING, AND MY AIRBAG NO LONGER WORKS. SOME OF MY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH EVEN STOPPED WORKING. THE FM/AM RADIO ALSO NO LONGER WORKS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID MY CLOCK SPRINGS WENT OUT. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING IN A CRASH. NONE OF THESE WORK, WHETHER THE CAR IS MOVING OR STATIONARY.
SWAY BAR LIGHT AND OTHER INDICATORS FLASHING BECAUSE OF WATER ENTERING THE ELECTRONIC SWAY BAR DISCONNECT BOX IN FRONT OF THE SWAY BAR, UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IN A NON-WATERPROOF CONTAINMENT, CAUSING MULTIPLE SHORTS. SWAY BAR INDICATOR WON'T STOP BLINK AND I HAVE NEVER USED THIS FUNCTION AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPES GO ON AND OFF AT RANDOM TIMES AND THE PAINT ON THE DOOR HINGES HAVE BEEN BUBBLING SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND I LAID EXTRA FOR THE CAR CARE PACKAGE BUT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR IT
SENTRY LIGHT AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT FLASH INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS.
LIGHTNING BOLT SYMBOL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND STARTS RUNNING ROUGHLY. IF TURNED OFF AND ALLOWED TO SIT WILL START UP AGAIN JUST FINE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TYPICALLY TURNS OFF AFTER A COUPLE MORE TRIPS AND RUNS JUST FINE UNTIL IT RANDOMLY DOES IT AGAIN. HAS BEEN SOMETIMES MINUTES, OTHER TIMES WEEKS BETWEEN EPISODES. HAVE HAD ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR REPLACED, THROTTLE BODY REPLACED, AND WIRING TO THROTTLE REPLACED. KEEPS HAPPENING. HAS HAPPENED WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED, SITTING AT LIGHT, NORMAL DRIVING, AND WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
CLOCKSPRING REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. INTERMITTANT AIRBAG LIGHT, INTERMITTANT FUNCTION FROM CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL. NO PATTERN TO INTERMITTANT FUNCTIONING, I PERSONALLY CLEANED OUT ALL CONTACTS AND HARNESSES BEFORE PAYING DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE CLOCKSPRING.
THE MOTOR WAS OVERHEATING THE RADIATOR FAN DID NOT TURN ON. TIPM WAS DEFECT.
WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING AROUND ENJOYING LIFE. WE STOPPED TO EAT DINNER GOT BACK IN THE JEEP IT WAS DARK TO GO HOME THERE WERE NO LIGHTS,TURN SIGNALS WIPERS AND HORN DIDN'T WORK. CALLED A FRIEND TO TAKE US HOME.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, RADIO FLASHED AND THEN THE JEEP STARTED TO LOOSE POWER. PULLED OVER, PUT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE FLASHING. CLICKING NOISES WHERE COMING FROM THE TIPM EVEN WITH THE KEY OFF. EVERYTHING WAS LOCKED UP ONCE IT WAS PUT IN PARK AND WOULDN'T UNLOCK TO TOW. THE ONLY RECOURSE WAS TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY AND TRY TO RESET EVERYTHING AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. I HOOKED THE BATTERY BACK AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED HOWEVER THE FIRST TIME WAS IN PARK AND EVERYTHING WENT HAYWIRE. WAS ABLE TO RESTART W/O DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. IT IS GETTING WORSE. WE ARE LOOKING AT A $1000 REPAIR BILL. WE ARE HESITANT TO DRIVE IT.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RECENTLY, ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON & SHORTLY AFTER MY ABS & TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS GO ON AS WELL. I'VE HAD THE CAR CHECKED TWICE & NO ONE CAN SEEM TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THEY'VE WENT OFF SINCE BUT CAME BACK ON A DAY LATER. IT'S BEYOND FRUSTRATING ESPECIALLY WHEN I SEE SO MANY PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS YET NO RECALLS? FOR THE COST OF THESE CARS, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE'S SO MANY WITH ISSUES. ALSO WHILE I'M AT IT I SHOULD NOTE THAT MY HEATING & DEFROST COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I LIVE IN UPSTATE NY & MY MILEAGE IS CURRENTLY 109K
STATIONARY VEHICLE STARTS WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR WITHOUT HAVING KEY IN IGNITION. STATIONARY VEHICLE ENGINE FAILS TO SHUT OFF WHEN I TURN OFF IGNITION AND REMOVE KEY. ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKS UP BRAKES WHILE VEHICLE IS STANDING STILL AND WILL NOT MOVE UNDER ANY THROTTLE AMOUNT BECAUSE THE BRAKES REMAIN LOCKED UP. VEHICLE FACTORY ALARM TURNS ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVERS DOOR IS OPENED. WINDOWS ROLL DOWN BY THEMSELVES WHILE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER (CAN'T SAY IF COMPRESSOR KEEPS RUNNING OR NOT) RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND COMES BACK ON A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER. CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ACCEPT SPEED SET BUT THEN TURNS 5 MINUTES LATER WHETHER YOU WANTED IT TO OR NOT. EVERYTHING POINTS TO THE TIPM BUT EVEN WITH 10'S OF THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FIAT/CHRYSLER STILL INSIST THERE IS NO WRANGLER TIPM PROBLEM, AND U.S. GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT...
TAKATA RECALL- A FEW DAYS AGO MY AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON AND OFF EACH TIME I STARTED MY CAR AND NOW THE LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, GRAY SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND THE HARNESS (THAT GOES AROUND THE BATTERY) ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH WATER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER (GEORGIA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP, 12114 US-301, STATESBORO, GA 30458) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A COUNTY ROAD AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S GAUGES TURNED OFF AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASH. THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND WOULD NOT RESTART, LOCK, OR UNLOCK DOORS. ALL FUSES AND THE BATTERY WERE GOOD. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED IT WAS A FAILED TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) AND QUOTED $1300 TO REPLACE.
CHECK ENGINE ILLUMINATED IN MID-2017, BUT NO CODES WERE PRESENT AND JEEP APPEARED TO RUN FINE. IN SEPT 2017, WHILE DRIVING ON I-75, THE JEEP SHUDDERED AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE LIGHTS HAD TURNED OFF. THEY ENDED UP SWAPPING OUT THE SPARK PLUGS AND TWO IGNITION COILS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON A FEW DAYS LATER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL CODES FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SYSTEM 1 AND 2. IN OCT 2017, THE VEHICLE JUMPED/SHUDDERED AND STOPPED RUNNING. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND LEAVE IT SIT FOR 10 MINUTES. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL ANY CODES AND BASED OFF OF MY DESCRIPTION...
TIPM SHOULD BE RECALLED. FRONT WIND SHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN A SNOW STORM AND NOW SEVERAL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE ACTING FUNNY. COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE - NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH WORKING. NEED TO REPLACE THE TIPM AND WAS TOLD THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER - TOTAL COST $1200 REPAIR
MY VEHICLE STARTED OUT WITH INTERMITTENTLY NOT BEING ABLE TO START/ TURN OVER OR RECEIVE ELECTRONIC SIGNALS TO THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. OVER TIME THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE PREVALENT WITH OTHER ISSUES OCCURRING ALONG WITH INABILITY TO START. THESE PROBLEMS INCLUDED LOSS OF POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION AND POSITION SENSORS, AND CABIN LIGHTS COMING ON THERE OWN WHILE DRIVING. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE MECHANICS IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM WAS THE PROBLEM, AFTER REPLACING THE MODULE ALL PROBLEMS HAVE STOPPED.
TIPM SMOKING AT POWER FEED. RANDOM TOTAL LOSS OF ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING.
ENGINE DASH LIGHTS ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN OFF THEN BACK ON WILL IN MOTION. ALSO WHILE IN MOTION, AN RPM SURGE OCCURRED WHICH ALMOST CAUSED ME TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS SURGE HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE LAST DAY SO HAVE PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD RESULT IN BODILY HARM.
