The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While the contact’s daughter was driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and decelerated unintendedly. During the failure, the power steering, brake assist, and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed and after approximately 30 - 40 minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (Electrical System); online, which indicated a similar failure and that the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) might fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. My engine light and traction light and red lightning bolt light is on and it’s making the vehicle run really hard and shake and almost stall out and won’t go over 20 miles per hour
My jeep would suddenly jerk forward almost rear ending people at red lights without any warning. While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my jeep. As I went to pull over the engine started bucking/jerking then the engine light flashed. I was barely able to pull over on the side of the road before the car completely stalled. I had to have towed to a dealership as it was no longer drivable. I was almost on the highway. The dealership said I had total engine failure and should buy a new car. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ASSOCIATE THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE) That has been open since of 11/2013. But my vehicles VIN “wasn’t included”. I was driving with my four small kids in my jeep.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the main crankshaft had blown out. The vehicle was not repaired. No warning lights have appeared; after an oil change, the technician said there is some oil seepage; at start up, the vehicle smells like gas and clicks and start up. The fumes are overwhelming at times. Off and on driving the vehicle clicks 2-4 times then stops. No warning lights are illuminating. The ECT had a failure at 67676 mileage the vehicle smelled like gas and would not accelerate, The Throttle body was replaced. No recall notice for this failure is listed for this vehicle.
Driving normal then suddenly power loss, jeep went into acceleration then loss of power, the ETC , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, I was on the interstate with my son in the car. We were lucky to exit before horrible consequences. The electronic throttle control was bad.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the Emissions Recall U67. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 157,000.
When travelling at high speeds, the engine repeatedly stalls, the engine light comes on the engine shuts down posing a major safety risk especially when on the highway at 65-70 mile hour speeds. There is a recall on similar models, but my vehicle's vin number is not showing. I am concerned that this vehicle has the same issue, but Chrysler is refusing to check it. The recall campaign number is N52 for a certain group of vehicles of the same model and the problem described is exactly what I am having with my vehicle. Essentially, my vehicle is posing a serious safety hazard and Chrysler is not willing to address it. I would appreciate any help with this matter. Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where i was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

My jeep has revved up and lunged forward scream times over the past 4 months. I’ll have my foot on the brake and it’s trying to lunge forward. Today the engine light came on and it wouldn’t go any faster than 30mph and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed.
The Electronic Throttle Body has failed 3 times in 3 years. As my wife was heading to a doctor's appointment the electronic throttle body failed while she was on a busy highway during rush hour. The car had 51,524 miles on it. This is the second time that this part has failed. The first time was a little less than 40,000 miles. When this fails the vehicle loses power and becomes a rear-end collision hazard. I also own a 2016 Jeep Patriot and its throttle body failed at a little less than 40,000 miles.
My patriot keeps shutting down on and off while driving. It is really unsafe, I did some research and there are multiple complaints since 2014 from other people about the same problem. The steering wheel won't even move when this happened. I believe this is a manufacturing issue and I am reporting it. I had taken my car to the mechanic over and over again and they do not know why this is happening.
I have a 2014 2.4L JEEP PATRIOT. I first noticed the problem when I was driving at 75 MPH between Mertzon Texas and Barnhart Texas, where there is no cell service unless you are on top of a hill. Then suddenly the check engine and the oil light came on and the vehicle began to lose speed no matter how much I pushed the gas peddle. The engine felt like it was running out of power and i was unable to accelerate, the engine began to stall and would not allow me to go over 15mph. On 7/15, my sensor showed I needed a usual oil change. I have had no prior issues with my oil. I drove it to my brothers and there was a loud knocking sound, and my dad checked the dipstick showing zero oil in my engine. I took it down the street about 2 miles, and the engine was stalling the whole way. The engine completely failed. It wouldn’t take oil, it was completely failed. As of 11/2013, I did some research and my particular model of the vehicle has an open recall that apparently doesn’t affect my VIN, however, the recall 13v552000/N52 states that abrasive debri in the balance shaft bearing causes loss of engine oil pressure, causing the engine to stall and or fail. I’m at a loss, and it’s been open as of 11/2013.

VEHICLE WOULD ONLY DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEED TO GET TO SAFETY. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY THE RPM'S WILL DROP DOWN TO 0 AND WITHIN 1-3 SECONDS IT POPS BACK UP TO NORMAL RANGE. SOMETIMES IT KILLS WHILE DRIVING. UNKNOWN REASON. HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS HOPING TO FIND THE CAUSE.
THROTTLE TRACK AND ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND OFF. CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE NO MORE THAN 30 RPM WHEN IT HAPPENS IT MAY ALSO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHEN FOOT ON BREAK .
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN TO GO OFF. RPMS WERE RUNNING HIGHER THAN NORMAL. AFTER THE SENSOR TRIGGERED TWICE, NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN RMPS RUNNING HIGH. 5 DAYS AFTER THE INITIAL WARNING LIGHT, UPON STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND RESUMING ACCELERATION, CHECK ENGINE CAME ON, THEN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, THEN TRACTION CONTROL. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR HAD TO DECELERATE OR STOP AND THE RPMS DROPPED BELOW 1. AT ONE POINT, IT STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER, STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. IF YOU WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH CONTINUOUS GAS THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPAIR IS THE THROTTLE BODY HOUSING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY THROTTLE BODY UNIT ON THIS CAR AT 75,000 MILES. THE CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. 3 LIGHTS CAME ON: THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR (CHECK ENGINE), AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL. MY CAR COULD NOT SURPASS 30 MPH WHICH WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR WAS JERKY AND WOULD JERK FORWARD EVEN WHEN BRAKING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING/KNOWN ISSUE. I BELIEVE A RECALL OF THIS SPECIFIC PART IS NEEDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE SPEED SUDDENLY REDUCED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HEARN STEIN JEEP (215 WEST EMMITT AVE, WAVERLY, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WOW, JUST WOW!! ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THE 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. MINE IS AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP GETTING A NEW THROTTLE BODY KIT. (600$$)....I AM NOT SURE IF I EVER WANT TO DRIVE IT AGAIN AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. LOST POWER AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN S CURVES ON A RURAL ROAD...HAD TO CREEP AT 10 MILES AND HOUR HOPING TO GET OFF THE ROAD. NO RECALLS ARE CRAZY CONSIDERING ALL THE COMPLAINTS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH AIR CONDITION RUNNING. I HEAR AN ELECTRICAL SOUND THAT REMINDS ME OF A REMOTE CONTROL CAR. MY JEEP THEN PROCEEDS TO OVERHEAT AND STALLS WHILE I'M DRIVING . I HAVE TO SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR 15-20 MINUTES THEN TRY TO DRIVE AGAIN . THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES MOST RECENTLY MEMORIAL WEEKEND 2019. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG
ENGINE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AFTER A WEEKEND DRIVE. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS WE WERE PARKING. TOOK IT IN TO GET COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACED, COOLANT FLUSH, AND THERMOSTATS REPLACED. COME TO FIND OUT THE HEAD GASKET BLEW AND DAMAGED THE PISTON RINGS. I NEED A NEW ENGINE! THERE WAS NO WARNING OF HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURES UNTIL 5 SECONDS BEFORE WE PARKED! CAR WAS ALWAYS MAINTAINED. THE ENGINE HAD 79,000 MILES.
