HAVE BEEN NOTICING VIBRATION OF THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN WHEN A/C TURNED ON. WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVE, HEARD POP NOISE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PULLED INTO DRIVE, OPENED HOOD AND FOUND THAT RADIATOR FAN HAD DISINTEGRATED, PIERCING RADIATOR SHROUD AND RADIATOR. HOLES IN RADIATOR (RADIATOR NOW LEAKING) AND SHROUD. CALLED CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER AND TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL 06V199000. AM REPLACING ALL AFFECTED PARTS AND PERFORMING SERVICE MYSELF. BASED ON ONLINE RESEARCH THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER ABOVE MENTIONED RECALL. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE BUT ADVISED HER THAT WAS COMMON IN THAT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,200.

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE REPAIR SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A DAMAGED RADIATOR DUE TO THE ELECTRIC FAN BREAKING INTO PIECES AND CAUSING THE LEAKAGE. I PAID THEM $259.00 FOR THE NEW RADIATOR. I WAS INFORMED OF THE SAFETY RECALL AND I DECIDED TO GO TO THE RIVERDALE CHRYSLER JEEP LOCATED AT 5869 BROADWAY BRONX NY 10463. AFTER A GENERAL INSPECTION THEY NOTICED THE SHROUD WAS ALSO DAMAGED AND REFUSED TO REPAIR/REPLACE STATING THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. HOWEVER, AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE LEFT REAR TAIL LAMP WAS INOPERATIVE. *JB

IN 2007 CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT SAID MY VEHICLE WASN'T IN THE RECALL DUE TO DATE OF MANUFACTURE. SINCE THIS FAILURE IS IDENTICAL TO THE FAILURE THAT INITIATED THE RECALL, JEEP SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR MY LOSS. *JB

IT WAS REPLACED IN 2003 AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER (5 REPLACEMENTS) WITH THE LAST ONE IN MARCH 2007. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL WATER PUMPS PLUS REPLACING THE HEATER CORE. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE FOR THE RADIATORS TO CONTINUE TO BREAKDOWN EVERY YEAR WITH LESS THAN 10K AND UNDER 12 MONTHS EACH TIME. I BELIEVE THE JEEP HAS AN INHERENT FLAW IN THE COOLING SYSTEM DESIGN. CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT PAY FOR ANY FUTURE RADIATORS WHICH ALMOST ASSUREDLY WILL BREAKDOWN AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *JB

I PURCHASED MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN 1999. I HAVE BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALER SERVICE FOR REPEAT MAJOR PROBLEMS. MY TIRE SQUEAKED LOUDLY WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER A YEAR OF NOT FINDING THE PROBLEM, AND FIXING WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS THE PROBLEM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS REPLACED AND SOLVED THAT PROBLEM. DURING THE PROBLEM WITH THE SQUEAK THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD A PROBLEM AND THE SOLUTION WAS TO DRAIN AND REFILL THE 4WD TRANSFER CASE FLUID, I HAD THEM COMPLETE THE SERVICE. ALSO DURING MY CARGO DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN NEITHER WOULD THE WINDOW, THEY REPLACED THE LATCH LIFT. THE NEXT PROBLEM WAS THAT I WAS NOTICING SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH MY HOOD. I BROUGHT THAT TO THEIR ATTENTION AND THEY NOTICE A FLUID LEAK AND HAD TO REPLACE MY CYLINDER HEAD GASKET. THE SMOKE WAS STILL THERE AFTER THAT...
