2022 HYUNDAI TUCSON Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

I was driving down the highway going about 60-65mph with cruise control and LKA on. I turned my blinker on to switch lanes, checked my blind spot, and moved over to the left. As I was doing so, a semi switched lanes from the left into the right (my new lane) right in front of me. The truck then slowed down a lot, and usually my Forward Collision Warning would say something if my Adaptive Cruise Control isn’t on (or is and I’m just going too fast to slow down) neither of those things happened. No warning. No automatic brakes. No slowing down. I tried to engage the brakes manually but nothing happened. I slammed into a semi at around 60mph because of 3 different system failures. Vehicle randomly activated automatic emergency braking and the forward collision warning with no other vehicles in sight. The vehicle slammed on the brakes almost causing a trailing car to rear end our vehicle. This has happened 5 times with speeds between 40 and 80 mph over the past 4 weeks. Conditions were cloudy. Problem has not been reproduced by the dealorship. No inspections have occurred.

The computer(s) responsible for many of the safety systems have faulty software. The computer vision system incorrectly assess condition of the roadway and issues warnings that obscure the instrument cluster. The computer vision system also incorrectly determines that a collision is imminent (despite no obstacles being present) and activates the braking system. Hyundai has been aware of this issue since 2022 and has previously released a software patch to correct it. However, unpatched vehicles are still being sold (and resold) by Hyundai dealerships without being fixed because Hyundai has chosen to rescind the availability of the update. Unpatched vehicles are on the road preventing drivers from properly monitoring vehicle operation as a result of the continuous warning obscuring the cluster and are jeopardizing the occupants and other road users when the vehicles spontaneously initiate panic stops for phantom obstacles. While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph the car emergency brake kicked in with no cars in front of it. Causing a huge jerk. This happened 3 times within a 25 minute time span

Vehicle was parked for an hour facing south. When vehicle was started, forward safety and blind spot monitoring warnings came on and many other systems tied to forward camera were disengaged. Mileage: 123k. Power steering was unresponsive and brakes felt spongy. Disconnected battery and let sit for a day. Reconnected and issue went away. A week later, was parked at hospital facing south for 4 hours. Issue came back, this time disconnecting battery did not fix issue. Dealer currently has the vehicle and they are claiming it shows rear end damage even though the car hasn’t been in an accident since I was rear ended and car was repaired. Dealer reported over 80 body codes including blind spot monitoring radar.

In December, while parking in garage, the vehicle suddenly accelerated causing considerable property damage Yesterday, Feb 26,2024 this happened again while parking. The car suddenly accelerated while parking, jumping over the parking curb and into the corner of a building causing major damage to the vehicle. No airbag deployment or forward collision warning in either case

I have a lot of questions. I bought the best trim car for safety, but as a result, nothing worked. The damage to my family caused by this was a lot of damage mentally and physically, and it took a lot of time for these results to come out. That ended my view of Hyundai/Kia as a Korean American living in the U.S. I will never repurchase a Korean car. I suspect a sudden acceleration. I decided to report to NHTSA/BBB/Hyundai Motor America/FTC.

The collision avoidance system has been going off randomly when there are no cars around, and also in the middle of traffic when I am more than two car lengths away from other cars; when I am on the highway driving fast and when I am on side streets driving slow, and even in my driveway. Additionally, some of the times that the warning system flashes and sounds off the car brakes and stops in the middle of the road. There is no pattern for when the incidents occur not are there any adverse road conditions. Roads here are flat and this has occurred during periods of no rain. Constantly having warning lights on, car jerking into other lanes, emergency braking randomly, brakes went to the floor and car propelled through an intersection

This is the 2-3 time that the sound of my radio and safety features does not work. There is no sound at all! If the sounds of the safety features are Not working, I feel extremely unsafe driving this car!!!!

Driving on highway long distance on sunny days the radar becomes blocked disabling critical forward safety functions and cruise control. Numerous times this has caused a near collision due to the automobile malfunctioning. Many times my cruise control has just stopped working and my vehicle has rapidly decreasing speed, causing people behind me to have to slam on their brakes. My vehicle has also automatically braked on the highway when there was no one in front of me. these are just two incidences that have nearly resulted in collisions on the highway. This has been occurring since I purchased the vehicle in September 2022. Unfortunately, dealership has not been able to duplicate what has occurred.

I bough my new suv around 4 to 5 months ago. Since i bought it and this only happened about 3 times. I was on highway and with no cars on the highway and myself going 70 the collision in the front came on and emergency breaking saying im about to hit something. But nothing was there. Purchased this vehicle 12/2021 it hesitated on pick up but drove good after that nice look but the headlights are bad at night. First month I had a bad scare as when attempting to stop the brakes gave out, I had to pump multiple times to get the car to stop, this happened again about 1 month ago. On 10/10/22 while attempting to park in my driveway which is on a hill the car did not want to accelerate when pressing the gas and many lights turned on the dashboard.
