I have had 2 failures of the EGR valve. The first was covered under warranty. Hyundai is refusing to cover the second repair even though I think it should be covered under the 80,000 mile federal emissions warranty. The vehicle currently has 73,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a misfire in the engine, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine cylinder failures. The contact was informed that the cylinders needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
The contact owned a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact's neighbor knocked on the contact's residential door and informed the contact that the contact's vehicle was on fire. The contact stated that when she went outside, the contact noticed that the entire front of the vehicle was on fire. The fire department was called, and the fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. The contact stated that the vehicle was burned all the way to the rear seat of the vehicle. The fire burned another vehicle that was parked in the contractor's yard. In addition, the contact stated that the fire burned a good portion of the contact's residential yard. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned a total loss by the insurance company. The fire inspector informed the contact that the fire...
While operating the vehicle, the engine shut down. Complete loss of power. Engine would restart, stall and then not restart. Vehicle immobile. Vehicle towed to dealership since could not be driven. Strong smell of gasoline.
The contact's wife owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife reported that the vehicle shuddered significantly and failed to exceed 30 MPH while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors were leaking, and the dealer determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had redesigned the fuel injectors due to the known failure. The dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under the extended warranty because the vehicle had exceeded the required mileage. The contact was informed that parts needed to be ordered to repair the vehicle. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 22-FL-002H. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed; however, no...
2022 Tucson (NX4, Alabama built) 2.5L Engine experienced a catastrophic failure leading to Hyundai dealer diagnosis that "Cylinder #3 is not contributing properly," which requires a full engine replacement. The vehicle is currently located at home and is available for inspection upon request. The engine scuffing has resulted in a severe loss of power contribution from Cylinder #3, leading to potential for sudden engine stall or complete loss of motive power while driving. If the engine seizes or stalls at highway speeds or during a critical maneuver (e.g., merging onto a freeway or turning across traffic), it creates an unreasonable risk of a rear-end collision or a catastrophic accident, endangering both the driver and others on the road. Furthermore, the internal mechanical failure creates a significant FIRE RISK due to potential oil leakage onto hot exhaust components. The problem has been confirmed by Hyundai Service Center in El Paso, Texas...
I am submitting this complaint regarding an ongoing and dangerous issue with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson involving repeated fuel injector failures that have caused the vehicle to stall and lose power while driving, without any prior warning indicators. The first incident occurred in October 2023, at approximately 16,000 miles, when the car suddenly died while I was driving. There were no warning lights or signs of a problem before the stall occurred. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership, where they replaced two fuel injectors. Just two weeks later, the same issue happened again—the car died while driving and was towed back to the dealership. The remaining injectors were then replaced. Unfortunately, this problem has continued. In November 2024, at around 26,000 miles, the vehicle again stalled while driving, with no warning, due to another fuel injector failure ( more failed injectors). Most recently, on October 18, 2025,...
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 12:40 AM, my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited suddenly stalled while driving and became completely non-functional. The vehicle had about 25,000 miles at the time. This left me stranded on the highway in the middle of the night, creating a serious safety risk for myself and other motorists. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. The dealer claimed the issue was caused by “carbon buildup” and stated that the problem would only be considered “repaired” if I paid for a fuel injection cleaning and fuel induction decarb service (about $500). These services are not listed in the Hyundai factory maintenance schedule, and no diagnostic evidence (photos, test results, or measurements) was provided to support the claim. Because the stall made the vehicle inoperable, I believe this should have been handled under warranty. Instead, I was pressured to pay for optional services in order to...
I have had 3 fuel injectors go out on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson. When this happened it was completely random and my car would stall and I would be stuck on the side of the road. I have had to miss work due to this happening. They told me that they are only able to replace the broken one each time instead of replace the all 4 while covered under warranty. They also told me that fuel injectors breaking is a common problem in 2022 and newer Tucson's as they are higher pressure systems than previous models. Im worried that this is going to keep happening and I'm going to keep breaking down due to fuel injectors breaking and end up stranded somewhere.
Hyundai has a known issue with GDI fuel injectors. Car begins to shake and lose power and eventually will stall due to cylinder misfire caused by defective injectors.
Fuel injector failure. Car was losing power completely when pressing the gas pedal then would suddenly catch and go again. Then go very slowly with little power, almost got into an accident because of the loss of acceleration. They replaced the fuel injectors and it is now happening a second time with the check engine light coming on again. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE! SEVERAL OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON HERE!!!!!!!
While driving on highway going 65 MPH my car 22 Hyundai Tucson SEL dashboard lights turned red and shut off on the highway with no warning, was not able to put in park for 10 minutes. My safety was put at risk, the vehicle stopped mid drive on the highway with other vehicles. Dealership has not fixed or looked at the issue.
While merging onto [XXX] in Southington, CT, the vehicle would not accelerate past 25 MPH which is very dangerous for merging onto an interstate highway. Luckily, my wife was able to safely pull over onto the shoulder. We shut the vehicle off for a minute, restarted it, and have had no problems since. There were no warnings, and no check engine indicator was displayed. I'll contact the dealer this month at a regular maintenance visit. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My high pressure fuel injectors and spark plug had to be replaced at 72,000 miles. My check engine light came on and the car started vibrating and was not accelerating properly. I spoke to three Hyundai dealership service centers and each of them acknowledged that it was a known issue with 2022 Hyundai Tucsons.
FUEL INJECTORS FAILURE..... SECOND ONE IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. BROKE DOWN ON MAJOR HIGHWAY.. TOWED TO HUNDAI IN CAPE GIRARDAU AS IT IS UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN THE ENGINE. KNOWN ISSUE,, LAST TIME THE MECHANIC TOLD US IT WAS PART OF POWER TRAIN. THERE HAVE BEEN SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS ISSUE.
Vehicle has just over 20,000 miles, and all four high-pressure fuel injectors have been diagnosed as “bad”. This is a very common issue reported on the Internet for 2022 Hyundai Tucson vehicles. Vehicle misfires and loses power with check engine light.
Cylinder 2 misfires, engine code P0302. Yes, it is available. Engine loses power during acceleration. Yes, Hyundai of Anderson (South Carolina) No warning or symptoms. Driving great then the engine starting misfiring going down the interstate.
Component or System That Failed: After a routine oil change at Rick Case Hyundai of Roswell on Saturday, \[insert date], my 2022 Hyundai Tucson began shaking significantly. The dealership later informed me the issue was related to a **malfunction in the fuel injector system**. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. How Safety Was Put at Risk: The shaking occurred immediately upon driving away from the dealership and worsened rapidly. I was concerned about losing control of the vehicle orengine stalling while driving, which could pose a danger to myself, passengers, and others on the road. I returned the vehicle immediately to avoid further risk. Reproduced or Confirmed by Dealer or Service Center: Yes, the problem was confirmed by the dealership (Rick Case Hyundai of Roswell). They diagnosed the issue as being related to fuel injector failure. I am waiting on a written report...
I purchased a 2022 Hyundai Tucson brand new, expecting it to be a reliable and safe vehicle for many years. Unfortunately, the fuel injectors failed and had to be replaced far too early in the car’s life. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The fuel injection system failed. The injectors had to be replaced, and the problem persists even after the repair. I believe the issue may still be present and can be made available for inspection if needed. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle continues to run poorly and unpredictably, which puts me and my family at risk—especially while driving at higher speeds or in heavy traffic. I’m concerned about stalling, power loss, or a potential engine fire due to leaking fuel. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer...
Master cylinder for the brakes went out
1-- Fuel injector failed 11/2023 one month to replace it, 2-- Fuel injector failed 3/2025 in dealer, 3-- Fuel door does not open, replaced by dealer 3/2025
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and was pulled over to the side of the road and stalled. The vehicle was restarted 20 minutes later with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer twice however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that on the second visit to the dealer, the dealer was able to provide an undisclosed update for the engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,089.
Dealership tried to fix vehicle multiple times and failed. Would be considered a Lemon but is over 3 years old.
2022 to hyundai tuscon now with the third cylinder misfire due to faulty fuel injector. This can be inspected upon request. Upon second occurrence, requested all cylinders be replaced and advised could not do this under warranty. Second filing to NHTSA. This incident put myself and other drivers at risk. I was driving on a highway and the cylinder misfire occurred resulting in check engine light and vehicle going into limp mode and inability to drive more than 30-40 mph. The entire vehicle violently shakes and loses power with this misfire. In the previous occurrences , could not accelerate beyond 20 mph. I could have been rear ended or caused a serious accident on the highway as a result of Hyundai faulty fuel injectors and cylinder misfires. My vehicle has now been seen 3x for the same issue and replaced by dealer. There were no warning signs prior to the...
Within the first year of purchase, my power train system has beeb throwing codes. I took it to the dealership where they assured me nothing was wrong. My fuel injectors then gave out. The dealership replaced them and told me “yes these things are faulty and we see it a lot”. After replacing it, they did not seal the fuel injectors, causing gas to gush out and set my car to smoke. I was ill from inhaling gas fumes for days. They took accountability and said that the injectors were defective in the vehicles and that they would once again fix it. I am not experiencing further engine issues which they do not know how to diagnose. My car is a 2022 purchase from the lot. The engine is defective and Hyundai is negligent. They admitted they were aware of the injector issue but didn’t do much to correct this....
While on a trip my wife started out leaving the hotel as normal. After a minute of so, we lost the ability to accelerate as if the Tuscon was not responding to the gas pedal. We were lucky we were in town so we pulled into a gas station and turned off the truck. I thought it might be bad gas so we filled the tank with hi-test and turned off several features that are related to speed control (like tracking the speed limit etc.) I have noticed at the same time we lost the ISG system (Idle stop and Go). The indication in the owner's manual points to a battery function that detects the battery is fully charged. I used a voltmeter and the battery reads 12.5v and is charging at 14v. See today's recall for Hyundai vehicles, I think the problem involves a lot more vehicles. If you...
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently went into LIMP Mode with several unknown messages displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately 15-20 seconds before the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The vehicle experienced a malfunction in the ignition or fuel delivery system, specifically a misfire detected in cylinder 2 (DTC P030200). This component has been documented by the manufacturer’s vehicle service center as an issue and may be available for inspection upon request. The misfire caused reduced engine power and hesitation during acceleration, posing a safety risk, particularly while merging onto highways or attempting to pass other vehicles. The issue has been reviewed and addressed by the manufacturer dealer service center twice (presently going in for a third time); however, the problem returned each time after a few weeks, with less than approximately 5,000 additional miles driven. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other parties. The "Check Engine" warning lamp illuminated when the failure occurred, accompanied by symptoms of rough idling and reduced performance.
Check engine light and error message popped up on screen "A possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected. A full system check is recommended to be done when convenient. Please contact your local dealership to schedule an appointment." Roughly 46500 miles. Contacted BlueLink and they could not help because dealerships were already closed.
While driving the car the engine died, locking up both the gas and brake pedals. The car had to come to a stop on its own, my wife could not depress the gas or brake to stop the car. She was going through an intersection and narrowly avoided a major accident! The battery light came on, the check engine light and the car started to fill up with a smell of burning plastic and gas. When trying to turn the car back on after turning it off it would start with a major shake and bang then turn back off. All warning lights stayed on. Battery was fully charged still. Autobody shop found engine issues in their pre scan before sending it to Hyundai to warranty it as it only has 6,626 miles and is 2 years old. There was a warning of low battery while we were on vacation...
I had 2 fuel injectors fail on my car within a 3 week period. The car is only 2.5 yrs old and has 48,500mi on it Both instances where when I was on a highway. I had the 1st fuel injector fail on [XXX] and then the 2nd one failed about 3 weeks later on [XXX]. When the 2nd fuel injector failed, I was barely able to drive the car to a safe place to get it towed. I spoke with a Hyundai Corp case worker and I asked why they didn't just replace the remaining 2 fuel injectors. Her response was that they don't replace them when they fail. I now have a 2 year old car that I am afraid to drive because I never know where or when It will leave me stranded. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle suddenly unable to accelerate. Engine shuddered & produced a burning smell until we could safely pull over. Towed to dealership where diagnostics showed faulty fuel injector & they replaced 1 GDI fuel injector per TSB 23-FL-002H-1.
I had my gps on and it completely stopped working sending me in circles and the voice directing completely stopped. Very dangerous it had me making U-turns at dangerous intersections. I stopped several times put address in again. This has happened several times and it is very dangerous. Also this address is a known gps address not some obscure destination ´ Next twice I have pushed the start button with my foot on the brake and the car would not start. Third try it started.
Car lost power as I was entering fast traffic area. Acceleration became unresponsive and vehicle came to halt. Would not move there after. Had it occurred a few seconds later I would’ve found myself unable to accelerate in an acceleration lane, or shortly after merging potentially causing injury to myself and others. After getting the issue diagnosed by Hyundai it is apparently a faulty fuel injectors. Researching online, this appears to be a known problem for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson with many claiming they were left stranded on highways, at intersections and during snow fall. In general this issue makes owners fearful to drive their cars. Apparently, this may be caused by a bad batch of injectors but to my knowledge Hyundai only replaces known bad injectors instead of replacing all injectors from the faulty batch. Due to this many experience multiple failures in short periods in short periods of...
2022 Hyundai Tucson with repeated check engine light and vehicle losing power. Vehicle losing power and inability to exceed speeds of 15 mph with vehicle shaking, knocking, and pedals shaking. No warning that this was going to occur until vehicle becomes unsafe to drive. This has happened twice and one of which was on a high way which created an incredibly unsafe situation. First time diagnostic code was P0303 which was a cylinder 3 misfire and second time - less than 4 months later- diagnostic code was a P0302 cylinder 2 misfire. Hyundai only repairs one injector at a time; refusing to do all 4 despite being a heavily documented issue on this make/model. This would be able to be confirmed by request. This was also confirmed both times by two separate independent service centers. Vehicle has about 25,000 miles on it and has had 3 check engine lights over...
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle began to vibrate, lose motive power, and then stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that cylinder #4 fuel injector had failed. The fuel injector was replaced; however, the same failure occurred with fuel injector #3. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 34,219.
On 5/27/24, my check engine light came on and the vehicle stayed to shimmy and shake each time I would press on the gas. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer for the #4 fuel injector assembly to be replaced. The same thing happened on 7/16/24 while traveling out of state. I was traveling on a highway and had to keep my emergency flashers on as I tried to coax the car to the next exit. Couldn't go above 25-30 mph. Had vehicle towed to a dealer for the #2 fuel injector assembly to be replaced. Now I am again without a vehicle because on 7/26/24, the same thing happened and I was told it is the #1 fuel injector. I was told by 2 different dealers that this is a known Hyundai Tucson issue but they are only allowed to replace what is coming up with an error code....
14202 miles on this car with regular oil changes by dealership. Engine is KNOCKING and needs a whole new engine. No warning, no lights, no codes. Is not able to be driven. Had my whole family in the car
I was merging on the highway when the car bucked and the check engine light came on. I couldn’t drive over 20 mph without the car shaking. I pulled over and had the car towed. The issue was a faulty fuel injector. It was replaced under warranty. I am worried reading online about this problem happening again. My family has owned 4 Hyundais and I’m starting to loose faith in their reliability. This really needs to be recalled.
Fuel injector went out in the middle of highway and vehicle had to be towed after vehicle starting shaking and couldn't drive above 25 miles per hour. This is a known issue by Hyundai in 2022 Hyundai Tucson.
Fuel injector failure on 02/2024. Fuel injector failure on 06/2024. Both times car lost power and started shaking. Hyundai service center will only replace one at a time. Car only has 28k miles.

We fist noticed a problem with the car having a hard time accelerating and a hard shift at 25-35 mph back at the end of November. We then got a check engine light that came on that said P013A00 Powertrain. We brought it to the dealership the first week of December and were told that the transmission just needed an update. Upon taking the car home it was better for about a week then the issue came back sporadically. Then on March 20th my wife was driving the car and it would not accelerate past 35 mph while getting onto the interstate. Cars were going by her at 70+MPH as she sat there helplessly pressing the accelerator. Eventually she got the car up to 50 mph but it would not go any faster. We brought it into the dealership that day and once again they said the transmission needed an...
I was driving on the highway when the engine would not accelerate. I was stuck in a high speed lane and drivers were on my rear bumper. I could not move over and felt helpless. I pulled off at the next exit and the vehicle was sputtering. I made it home at reduced speed. The vehicle would not start the next morning. I had it towed to the nearest dealership. I was contacted days later and informed that the is a bulletin about power loss due to faulty fuel injectors. Many complaint sites are full of the same problems. I now feel unsafe driving the vehicle on trips. I don't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. I am a female senior citizen.
Ignition coil failure while driving. Loss of power, jerking performance, almost to point of stalling. No check engine lights until failure. Confirmed with scanner what computer was registering. I’ve seen other posts online of this happening.
NHTSA Complaint On Sunday, March 10th 2024 our 2022 Hyundai Tucson with 2.5L engine started missing in one of the cylinders. It did not disable the vehicle and it ran like that for several blocks until we could pullover to safety. At this time there were no warning lights of any kind. It wasn’t until I turned the car off, checked the oil (which was good), started the car again and did a lap around the parking lot that the check engine light came on. So there were no warnings. We dropped the car off at our local Hyundai service center that night so it could be checked first thing the next day. It turned out that it was a bad spark plug and injector. At that point it was no big deal. We chalked it up to a fluke. We received the car back on Thursday, March 14th with...
In December, while parking in garage, the vehicle suddenly accelerated causing considerable property damage Yesterday, Feb 26,2024 this happened again while parking. The car suddenly accelerated while parking, jumping over the parking curb and into the corner of a building causing major damage to the vehicle. No airbag deployment or forward collision warning in either case
This is the third time I had issues with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson losing power, being unable to accelerate, and/or completely losing power and stopping. I already created an NHSTA report/complaint when the first incident occurred 11 months ago (NHTSA ID Number: 11507213). Since then, the issue occurred twice (has 33,000 miles & always maintained). I am a professional female in [XXX] . The 2nd time was at night [XXX]; I was on my way to a program for work, car decelerated. I could navigate, with great distress and frustration to a side street where the car shut off completely. I contacted my husband, my supervisor (who delayed the program start for a few minutes, then began without me), Hyundai Blue Link and AAA. My supervisor sent someone to pick me up so I could be present at the program and make my presentation. A colleague returned me to my...
While driving uphill, the car lost power, beginning to spurt and stalling. Then the car was not able to accelerate while car kept spurting and stopping. It was a dangerous situation as this happened while we were driving, in the middle of the road, while going uphill. Thankfully it was at night and there were no cars behind us but if there was we would have clashed into it. Towed the vehicle to the dealership and was informed that the same year TUCSON came in the night before with similar problems. It appears that there is a pattern to this safety concern. Please take action before someone gets hurt. Car shutting off like this while driving poses safety concerns for drivers and all the people around it. Even with fix, I don't feel safe driving unless I see actions taken by Hyundai to solve this apparent issue with powertrain/engine.
Spring and Summer 2023: Multiple safety sensor malfunctions during highway rides pose a risk. The official dealership reset the system, but issues have persisted over the last few months. August 9, 2023: Sudden and intense shaking, poor driving performance. The vehicle was serviced at the official dealership (LITHIA Hyundai of New Port Richey #396). Replaced Parts: QQH Injector Assembly Fuel QQH Pipe-High Pressure Combustion Seal Ring K Bolt Gasket-Port Gasket-PCV FKM Washer-Injector Bracket x 2 September 25, 2023: Recurrence of shaking and jerking while driving on the highway. The vehicle was dropped off at the same official dealership. Replaced Parts: Spark Plugs Combustion Seal Ring QQH Pipe-High Pressure QQH Injector Assembly Fuel December 19th, 2023: The same issue appeared yesterday. The vehicle was dropped off for repair at the official dealership (LITHIA Hyundai of New Port Richey #396). Ongoing concerns and recurrent problems warrant further investigation and resolution.
