FOR A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE CAR HESITATED SLIGHTLY FROM A DEAD STOP WHILE WE ACCELERATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS FROM THE CAR INDICATING ANY ISSUE. BECAUSE IT SEEMED ODD, WE MADE A APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE. WHILE WAITING FOR OUR APPOINTMENT ON JULY 12TH, 2020, MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE, THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION, SUCH THAT THE ENGINE WOULD JUST SPIN WITH NO POWER GOING TO THE WHEELS AT HIGHER RPM'S. FEATHERING THE THROTTLE, A SPEED OF ABOUT 45 MPH COULD BE ATTAINED ON FLAT GROUND AND SIGNIFICANTLY SLOWER ON HILLS. AFTER LIMPING IT ALONG TO A LOCAL SHOP, WERE WERE TOLD THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS CLOGGED, CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER, WHICH HAD FAILED SENDING SHRAPNEL THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ONLY KNEW THIS BECAUSE THEY HAD TO TAKE THE CAR...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO HYUNDAI DE MAYAGUEZ, MAYAGEZ, 00682, PUERTO RICO, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED DUE TO THE PART NOT BEING AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING, THE GAS PEDAL WILL BE PUSHED DOWN BUT CAR WILL STALL AND NOT GO. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP, BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL ACCELERATE FORWARD. ALSO, WHEN COASTING IN RUSH-HOUR, ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP SIGN, THE CAR WILL MAKE JERKING MOVEMENTS. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT IS A DUAL-TRANSMISSION SO I JUST NEED TO BE MORE AGGRESSIVE WITH IT WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOP LIGHT/STOP SIGN. I KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND MOST DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE REVISITED AS THERE HAVE OBVIOUSLY BEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS AND HAS BEEN AN ISSUE PREVIOUSLY.
WHEN STARTING FROM A FULL STOP THE CAR HESITATES FOR 3 TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE MOVING; MAKING IT UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS TO PULL OUT. WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC OR IN A PARKING LOT THE CAR BECOMES VERY JERKY AS IF RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER SHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT THEY TEST DROVE IT AND CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID IT IS WORKING THE WAY THAT IT SHOULD.WE HAVE LOST OUR CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR AND FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE,
MY VEHICLE IS EXHIBITING ISSUES WITH POWER. MY CAR HAS STOP ON THE HWY AND HAS CLANKING NOISE WHEN IT GETS CLOSE TO 4000RPM. IT'S SLOW TO SPEED UP AND SOMETIMES STAYS AT 50MPH NO MATTER HOW LONG MY FOOT IS ON THE ACCELERATOR. I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO GET LOOKED AND EVEN HAD A TUNE UP AND IT'S THE SAME ISSUE. IN REVERSE IT'S FINE BUT GOING FORWARD THAT'S WHEN YOU CAN FEEL AND HEAR THE PROBLEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND I DON'T HAVE $5000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. MY MECHANIC SAYS IT'S INTERNAL ISSUE WITH THE POWER TRAIN. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!
THE CAR DOESNT GO WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS, PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS. THE PROBLEM EXASTURBATED WHEN THE CARS 1ST 15 MINUTES OF RUNNING. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,904.
NOT LONG AFTER I GOT THE CAR I BEGAN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER AND BACK PASSENGER DOOR HANDLES BOTH JUST JAMMED ONE DAY, THE DRIVER WINDOW SWITCH SHORTS OUT, DASH LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF RANDOMLY, THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALREADY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN TICKING FOR MONTHS AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS DUE TO LOW OIL AND REFUSED TO LOOK INTO IT. RECENTLY BOUGHT 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON LIMITED AND THE CAR HAS 29,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR WITH SHAKE AS IT IS ABOUT TO STALL OUT AND THEN FINALLY KICK IN AND START MOVING FORWARD NORMALLY. I'VE TRIED TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND HAD THE CAR STALL FOR A SECOND BEFORE GOING FORWARD. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO MURDOCK HYUNDAI (4646 S. STATE ST, MURRAY, UT) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SHUDDER AND VIBRATE WHILE DRIVING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. ALSO, ON OCCASION, THE ENGINE AND RPMS WOULD REV VERY HIGH WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL; HOWEVER, THE SPEED WOULD NOT INCREASE, WHICH MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT WHILE PASSING OTHER VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRESTIGE HYUNDAI (768 E. CHESTER ST, KINGSTON, NY), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES COULD NOT DUPLICATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50.
I CANNOT ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. THERE IS A HESITATION IN THE ACCELERATOR. SOMETIMES NOTHING HAPPENS, SOMETIMES IT CHUGS FIRST THEN GOES. I HAVE TROUBLE MERGING AND GETTING INTO TRAFFIC. IT IS UNRELIABLE FROM A STATIONARY TO MOVEMENT.
EVEN AFTER REPROGRAMMING OF MY 2016 TUCSON DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT), I STILL WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR. TRANSMISSION IS STILL HERKY-JERKEY WHEN CREEPING ALONG IN TRAFFIC. ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS AT HIGHER SPEED (SAY MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT 50-70 MPH) THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLOW TO CHANGE GEARS, AND ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION THE TRANSMISSION TEMPORARILY WENT INTO A "NEUTRAL' STATE TEMPORARILY DISCONNECTED FROM POWER TRANSFER FROM THE ENGINE. IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN SAY WHEN CROSSING TRAFFIC IT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.

THE CAR STALLED(DID NOT ACCELLERATE WHILE MERGING IN TO TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS . THIS REQUIRED ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO BRAKE TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 40MPH ON A STREET CIRCLING A MALL.THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED OWNING THIS CAR WHICH ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 13800 MILES ON IT I HAVE SINCE CHECKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE ARE NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND NO SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I THEREFORE THINK THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE DCT AND ENGINE SOFTWARE/HARDWARE THAT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

YOU RANDOMLY GET NO RESPONSE WHEN ACCELERATING TO MOVE INTO TRAFFIC..LIKE IT'S NOT GETTING ANY GAS, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU CAN FEEL TRANSMISSION GOING INTO GEAR AS IT FINALLY CATCHES. WHEN IN SLOW, CRAWLING FREEWAY TRAFFIC, IT'S ALWAYS JERKING WHEN BARELY MOVING- AS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION DOES WHEN YOU DON'T GIVE IT ENOUGH GAS...FIRST TIME ISSUES HAPPENED WHEN I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ON A 50MPH HIGHWAY AGAINST ONCOMING TRAFFIC FROM A STOP. THIS IS NOT A SOUND VEHICLE IN MY OPINION. YOU NEVER KNOW HOW LONG IT'S GOING TO TAKE TO MAKE TURNS INTO TRAFFIC OR JUST LEAVING A PARKING SPOT..YOU GET THE HERKY-JERKY UNTIL TRANSMISSION CATCHES. AND IT'S NOT ALL THE TIME, VERY RANDOM. FREEWAY DRIVING IS FINE SO FAR, WHICH IS WHAT MOST OF MY COMMUTE IS. BUT UNTIL REACHING FREEWAY SPEEDS, IT'S ALWAYS A WORRISOME DRIVE.

THIS ALSO OCCURS WHEN PULLING INTO MY WORK PARKING LOT THAT IS ON A HILL, I OFTEN GET STUCK FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE IT CATCHES.

WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THIS DEFECT AND MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE TUCSON. HYUNDAI TOO KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS HAD NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND THERE HAS ALSO BEEN LAW SUITS FOR THE LEMON LAW AGAINST THIS VEHICLE BUT, THE DEEP POCKETS OF HYUNDAI'S CORPORATE LAWYERS ALWAYS WINS OUT. DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BECOME SERIOUSLY INJURED OR PERHAPS DEAD BEFORE A RECALL HAPPENS? THE DATE BELOW REFLECTS THE LAST TIME I WAS ALMOST HIT BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED TO MOVE AND THEN STOPPED.
EVER SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP ON A CITY STREET. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING AN UNPTOTECTED LEFT TURN AND THE CAR WON'T PICK UP AND GO. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY MADE SOME ADJUSTMENT BUT I AM STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE RPMS GO UP BUT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T MOVE. IT HAS HAPPENED FROM A DEAD STOP, AND ALSO WHEN ACCELERATING WHEN ALREADY MOVING, BOTH AT LOW RATES OF SPEED AND ON THE INTERSTATE.
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, DRIVING DOWN A MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 40 MPH THE RPM REVVED UP TO 5 RPM AND WOULD NOT COME DOWN EVEN WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PUTTING IT INTO PARK. I ALSO HAVE CONSTANT HESITATION WITH THE ENGINE WHEN STOPPING AT A LIGHT IN TOWN AND THEN MOVING FORWARD FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR JERKS AND THEIR IS DELAY TO GO WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THE CAR WILL AT TIMES NOT GO INTO REVERSE WHEN TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HAVE TO COMPLETELY PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN RESTART THE CAR AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE BEFORE I CAN BACK IT OUT SUCCESSFULLY.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE IS NOT RESPONSIVE YET THE RPMS INCREASE THEN MAKING IT JUMP AND SHUDDER, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL YOUR SPEED WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND BUCKS. THIS OCCURS IN ANY SITUATION WHERE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED; AT STOP SIGNS, STOPLIGHTS, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, WHILE TURNING, ETC..I HAVE HAD THIS 2016 VEHICLE FOR ONE WEEK AND THE DID CHECK SAFETY RECALLS FOR THE VIN. THERE WERE NO UNRESOLVED RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I SEE THAT A RECALL CONCERNING THIS ISSUE WAS ISSUED FOR MY SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR REPORTS.
