2019 HONDA PASSPORT Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Front camera that is needed for all of the lane sensing, Cruise control, lane keep assist malfunctions. This camera is needed to operate all of these safety systems. I’ve seen many blogs with drivers saying they have a similar issue. The fix is $1800.

The lane keep assist camera internally faulted and intermittent tries to work but will immediately fault out. Lights will show for adaptive cruise, lane departure, and collision avoidance. Code shows internal fault and is shown in bulletin to replace. Happened begining of 2025 like most other people.

At random times, the dashboard will show "BRAKE" repeatedly when there is nothing obstructing the road or any other vehicles nearby. We have also experienced at least a half dozen times when the car will flash that and engage the brakes stopping us in the middle of traffic. The braking is abrupt and will yank you harshly in the seatbelt. I have taken it to the dealership twice and Honda has said nothing can be found in the computer and "the next time it happens to take a pic or video". That is impossible to do and is now happening enough where I considering getting rid of the vehicle but hate to pass that on to another person. When happening in traffic, I cant imagine explaining to emergency response that I was rear ended when the car smashed on the brakes but Honda has no way of confirming that. I...

Forward collision, Adaptive cruise control and all enhanced safety features related to the camera and front of vehicle sensor stopped working. Vehicle warning lights and messages do light up for every start. Only option has been to have a $2,500 repair bill for a 6 year old vehicle to install a new camera system by the dealer. This a well known manufacturer issue among owners. Infotainment system is losing network connections and completely going black. The system is only available for brief stretches after restarting the vehicle and will go black while driving. There is a known recall for the coaxial cable (MOST connection loss) but apparently my vehicle is not part of this recall. Again this is a well known manufacturer issue with this year and model vehicle. Appears to be a wiring harness issue or improper wiring installation by manufactuer.

I had 5 lights comes on 2 days ago. Airbag system problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, high beam problem, and adaptive cruise control problem. The dealership said that it was a camera issue and everything except the air bag issue is covered with my warranty. It’s currently in the shop getting fixed. Also currently has a recall for the fuel pump that they never have the part. Still waiting to see if they are able to get that part. This recall has been there since 12/2021 and they haven’t been able to get the parts.

I have had several incidents where my car does not restart after auto-idling at a stop light. When there is a delay in restarting, a warning flashes briefly that there is an issue with the collision mitigation system. On some occasions, it fails to restart completely and I have to turn off the car, open the door to reset everything, then close the door to restart the car. I have had it inspected by Honda several times and was most recently told it needed a software update, but it has continued to happen since the software update.

Ever since I purchased this vehicle in April of 2024, I've noticed that the forward collision mitigation system seems to see and respond to things which aren't in front of the vehicle. It seems like this system is watching the lane to the left of my vehicle, more than the lane which I am in, which causes the over-reactions, (but also means that the adaptive cruise control is less reliable about slowing when traffic ahead of me, in my lane, slows.) This has only rarely resulted in brake activation. Generally, it's just the warning which comes up on the screen. This happens most times I drive it, and I just live with it. I have had it into the local Honda dealer (Ken Garff Honda Downtown) to be checked out, and they say it's fine.

The automatic braking system will activate at various times shaking the wheel and applying the brakes. This happens when there is nothing in front of the vehicle.

My 2019 Honda Passport with VIN# ending with**********2184. A safety recall of a faulty fuel pump was dangerous to drive. The faulty pump recalled from Honda NHTSA warned drivers that are at risk of crashes and accidents. The increased risk of property damage as well. I was exhausted trying to get a loaner car from my Dealership that I have all of my routine maintenance is performed. The fuel pump failure from December 2023 as of today still unavailable. On 6/15/2024 I loss control of my 2019 Honda passport. The rapid acceleration and rapidly stalling the vehicle etc loss of power and control. Warning system failure… all lights lit and systems did not work.car was drivable but with no safety mitigation systems. My Honda Passport will trigger false forward collision alarms randomly, and for no reason. No obstructions are visible most of the time recently! As the BRAKE warning appears, the steering wheel vibrates and a quick braking jabs causing panic as if the brakes are fully engaged then it releases. This happens for no apparent reason. It is VERY distracting and if the brakes do apply very quickly, serious injury and damage can occur. This has happened multiple multiple 10+ times. Now until recently l was usually in a construction zone near a 🚧 barrier or orange hivis barrel by or passing over thick lane markings on the pavement. So l assumed system was over sensitive but never during those incidents was my vehicle was directly in front (head-on) nor did l veer into the direction barrel/barrier.

Started my vehicle and drove about a mile before my brake system lights came on. They were sporadically coming on , but now it's a continuous issue. I would like to know is there some kind of recall on vehicles that are experiencing issues with the ACC, COLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM, BRAKE SYSTEM, LKAS, AUTO HIGH BEAM, and ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION lights staying on . I only have 28,000 miles on my 2019 Passport Elite. So it's no longer un warranty. I see that a number of people on the Honda Forums are experiencing the same issues. As a loyal Honda owner, I must say I've had more issues and recalls with this one. Too many for an almost $50,000 vehicle.

Car will at times not start and require to be jump started. Battery has been replaced and the issue persist. The car will randomly say collision warning when no cars are on the road

The monocular camera, part 36160-TGS-A13 failed. This camera drives the vast majority of safety features on the Honda Passport. Those affected features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Parking Collision Warning, Automatic High Beam Control, and more. This vehicle has not been in a collision or subjected to any reason that would disable the camera. This camera, and apparently a significant number of others of this same model number appear to simply be defective. American Honda (and the dealers) indicate that the part is backordered with no ETA for restock, yet OEM part suppliers have the part readily available for one day delivery at $600. A quick search of the internet reveals this part failure is common, and the dealer response of backorder with no ETA seems to be a standard response. The one dealer I dealt with indicated they...

Forward collision warning alert (Brake) warning triggers frequently when opposing traffic is present. Sometimes the brakes apply that has led to several near miss collisions from being rear ended. The blind spot warning false triggers during wet conditions. Both of these items are distracting and first is dangerous. The two different dealers I have contacted are aware of these issues and have stated that Honda has no solution. One of the dealers said they could check/adjust the radar for $270 but may not fix the problem.

I have had the car for three years and its never been in a collusion. Within the past two months the forward radar sensor failed which cost 1500 to replace. This part makes it so all cruise control and auto lane change functionality break. In addition a month later the gas lid broke and emissions were getting into the fuel tank. Again not major incident but I did observe that the gas tank top is very flimsy and moves a lot of when refueling. This cost me another 763 dollars. Both these issues cause major safety issues and should not be occurring on a three year old vehicle.

Autobraking system incorrectly warns and sometimes brakes when oncoming cars are in their own lane and not in my lane. It’s super scary and dangerous. I was told by the dealer that they can’t really do anything about it. Crazy.

The collision warning flashes and brakes are sometimes activated for no reason. Almost as if it sees a phantom vehicle. Other times this happens when there is opposing traffic in the other lane but not in my path. This was reported to Honda of Kirkland during a routine service. I was told no problem was found and no activations of the system were recorded in the car’s computer.

My Collision Mitigation Braking System activates when there is no reason to do so. I took it to my dealer and they said it is because there is dirt on the car logo that is in front of the radar so they cleaned it. It was not dirty in my opinion. When I dove it again with a very clean logo the system flashed BREAK again and shook the steering wheel. I know I can turn this “feature” off by pressing a button on the dash board but I have to do that every time I start the car - it malfunctions regularly. In addition to be inconvenient it is distracting and dangerous do deal with when driving if I forget to turn it off. If I loan my car to someone It is embarrassing and difficult to explain to them how to handle it.

VERY FREQUENT FALSE WARNINGS FOR COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM. BUSHES, ROAD SIGNS, ROUNDABOUTS, ONCOMING TRAFFIC, ETC. WILL FALSE TRIGGER THE SYSTEM. MANY OWNERS REPORTING FALSE WARNINGS OR BRAKING BUT NO FIX. DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS. ONCE THE VEHICLE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES FOR NO GOOD REASON DUE TO A CAR TURNING OFF THE ROADWAY FAR AHEAD AT LOW SPEEDS. THE SYSTEM IS DISTRACTING AND COULD IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES APPLY BRAKES WHEN NO REASONABLE THREAT IS PRESENT. CAREFUL DRIVER WHO LEAVES DISTANCE, AND I NOW DISABLE THIS SUPPOSED SAFETY SYSTEM TO BE SAFER FROM IT.

WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WILL GIVE FALSE FORWARD COLLISION ALERTS FROM ONCOMING VEHICLES IN THE OPPOSING LANE. WHEN DRIVING ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, VEHICLES DRIVING SLOWER IN THE LANE TO YOUR LEFT WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN SUDDENLY (THERE ARE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT ). BOTH OF THESE ISSUES HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY AND CAN CAUSE AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION WHEN TRIGGERED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT A DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON FIVE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.

SYSTEM GIVES FALSE POSITIVES AND TRIES TO SLAM ON BRAKES WITH NOTHING IN FRONT. THIS HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN SO I HAVE TO DISABLE THE SYSTEM BUT STILL GET THE WARNING FREQUENTLY
