TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED THE DOOR TO CLOSE ABRUPTLY UPON ACCESSING. THE DOOR CLOSED ON THE CONTACTS FACE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO INJURY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,800.
TAILGATE STRUTS STOPPED WORKING. TAILGATE WILL NOT STAY IN UPRIGHT POSITION. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2008-2009 MODELS WITH POWER TAILGATE LIFT (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE11034) BUT NOT ON 2007 MODELS WITH MANUAL LIFT. *TR
TRUCK TAILGATE HOLDER FAILED AND HIT DRIVER ON THE BACK. IT SLAMMED CLOSED AND WOULD NOT STAY OPEN. *TR
REAR TAILGATE STRUTS FAIL ON 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, CAUSING TAILGATE TO SUDDENLY CRASH DOWN. CHILDREN WERE IN THE VICINITY AND COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALER, AND THE DEALER SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THERE ARE ALSO MANY INSTANCES OF THIS PROBLEM MENTIONED ON VARIOUS INTERNET SITES. THE 2005 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM. IF SOMEONE HAS NOT BEEN KILLED ALREADY, SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT SOON ADDRESSED ON A LARGE SCALE. *TR
