2019 HONDA CR-V Forward Collision Avoidance Adaptive Cruise Control Problems

The vehicle began experiencing repeated engine misfires, hesitation, and loss of power during normal driving. The issue was diagnosed as failing fuel injectors, which is a known issue on this generation of Honda CR-V. The failure causes sudden hesitation and reduced engine power, particularly during acceleration and at intersections, creating a safety hazard in traffic. In some instances there was a strong fuel odor, raising concern for a potential fuel leak and fire risk. The injectors failed well before normal service life and required replacement. Honda has not issued a recall for many affected vehicles despite widespread reports of similar failures across multiple model years. This defect presents a safety risk due to possible engine stalling, loss of power, and potential fuel leakage.

I am reporting a severe safety defect involving the engine and fuel injector system that began two months ago at ≈108k miles (now 109k miles). I have not yet taken the vehicle in for service due to the estimated high repair cost of $2,900. It is critical to note that the same underlying problem was subject to a safety recall for the 2017-2018 model years, but the defect was not fixed for my 2019 model year. This indicates a persistent manufacturing or design flaw that warrants an immediate investigation into my model year. The defect manifests regularly, causing a Cylinder 2 Misfire (P0302) and making the engine run very rough with a sudden and severe loss of power. I have 2 issues with my car - the first one has been ongoing and I should have reported it sooner - when using cruise my car will sometimes brake for no reason, it's as if the car sees something that's not there. The second one just occurred and has only happened once. I was driving on the highway using cruise and I got a message on the dash that said something like cruise control disengaged - the cruise turned off and the gas pedal didn't work so I had to coast to the shoulder. Luckily, I didn't have to cross any lanes of traffic or it could have been extremely dangerous. I plan to contact the dealer as soon as I am done with this submission. I wanted to be able to tell them that I had notified the NHTSA.

THE ADAS SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING, IT KEPT BLINKING WARNING SIGNS ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Yesterday, my car was working fine. This afternoon October 1, 2024, when I turned on the engine I saw a prompt “CMBS problem” on the screen. Warning signs/lamps lit up as well, 1. Adaptive control cruise problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, collision mitigation system problem, and auto high beam problem. I have not contacted the dealership about this current issue because I plan to go to the dealership to do my oil change this coming Saturday 10/05/2024. Just an FYI, they still haven’t addressed my recall ( the 2017-22 fuel pump mtr saf recall exp2). At this time, no injury happened, but I am definitely scared of my safety using my car.

I was driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on [XXX] with moderate traffic, going approximately 70 mph. I was traveling in the #1 (left most) lane. I had been using Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) for several hours without any problems. ACC started behaving differently: instead of automatically applying the brakes when the vehicle in front slowed down, I had to press the break peddle manually. This happed twice before the car suddenly, unexpectedly, applied full braking force. Warning lights: adaptive cruise control fault. Lane departure fault collision avoidance fault and emissions check engine. Diagnosed fix: fuel injectors malfunctioning. This making the emissions light come on making all the other warning lights to go off. Fixed at a local Honda dealer. Not really a fix less then 24 hours later the same warning lights came back on however now a huge loss of power and loud engine noise when stepping on throttle. Just dropped off at dealer again to be diagnosed again.

Car stops suddenly on highway, going into, "limp mode." All dash warning lights came on. Rich emissions. VTM-4 issue. This is an ongoing issue with CR-Vs, yet manufacturer has issues no solution, clearly opting to work each situation independently. Therefore, manufacturer saves the time and money associated with these repairs.

Warning lights kept cycling thru and dinging every half second. Took it to dealer and it is a faulty front camera in the windshield. They said they see it all the time and immediately diagnosed it. Said it is a faulty design and costs ~$1,700.

seems like this is an on going issue honda safety systems failing around 30k miles. loss of all systems VSA, RMS, ACC, CMS. prior to all loss, the system would out of the blue activate when there was no cause. system will not reset and all dash warnings are on all started when the front right wheel might have had a slip issue going through a puddle of water. with the large amounts of failures, honda needs to step up and fix these issues as it is now a guaranteed profit maker for their dealers as estimated cost is 1800 dollars, pretty stiff for fixed ss income.

All the warning lights come on. When they do, none of the features work including cruise control and advanced vehicle detection.

While driving my Honda CR-V the braking, steering and GPS started to fail. I noticed the wire from the windshield to the rear-view mirror was hanging lose. the car was almost impossible to stop. Buckeye Honda replaced the wire for $1028.97 I recently became aware that Honda has recalled a number of other models with the same problem. Should the CR-V also be recalled? I am aware of other owners having same problem. This is very dangerous since the brake and steering fail at the same time. I have the work order and receipt from Buckeye Honda however my printer copier is not working.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU THAT HONDA CRV ARE BEING TARGETED FOR THE RADAR. MY RADAR HAS BEEN STOLEN 2X AND HONDA NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED. THE RADAR ARE IN FRONT OF THE CARS AND IT IS EASY TO BE STOLEN. IT IS NOT FAIR FOR PERSON TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE AND PARTS ARE BEING STOLEN. On June 17, 2022 I had front end collision. I was stopped at a traffic light and went to move up closer to the car in front of me. When I touched the accelerator my accelerated very quickly in and removed my foot from the pedal. The engine continued to rev even though my foot was on the break. I was not seriously injured. The car that I hit had 2 people in it and they looked ok at the scene. I think they are being evaluated for injuries. I am waiting to take it to Progressive Insurance Network collision center. But they don’t seem to be interested in anything but body work.

When driving on the interstate with assisted cruise control and lane assist, my car has twice braked very hard when no hazards were in sight. Once, it almost came to a complete stop and had the car behind me been closer their would have been an accident - this was summer of 2021. The second time, it braked, I turned off cruise and tapped the brake and it corrected itself. In both cases, this could have been a very dangerous situation that put myself and others at risk. I thought it was happening because my windshield had been replaced and recalibrated. I had that checked twice and they found no issue with the calibration. While driving warning lights on dashboard display the following issues: 1. Collision Mitigation System Problem 2. Road Departure Mitigation Problem 3. Tire Pressure Monitor Problem 4. Brake System Problem 5. Brake System Hold Problem 6. Power Steering System Problem 7. Vehicle Stability Assistant Problem 8. Hill Start Assist Problem and 9. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem. Vehicle taken to dealership for evaluation and assessment. Indicated it was due to corrosion on battery post. Post were cleaned problem reoccurring after vehicle diagnostic test. I'm unsure what will happen to me while driving. Unsure if the car System will fail while in motion. Dealership apparently unable to repair. This issue has been periodically reoccurring since September 26, 2021.

My vehicle has 3 malfunction warnings that come up - Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, and Collision Mitigation System Problem along with the brake system light on. I have had the vehicle at the dealer for repairs 4 times, it has happened again a few more times and I am bringing my vehicle back to the dealer again for the fifth time (on 1/18/22). It happens randomly and has been persistent since November 2020. The district rep for Honda (Arizona) is aware of these issues. I have been offered no other solution except to bring the vehicle back in again (for the fifth time).

WHEN ON INTERSTATE IN MIDDLE OR LEFT LANE AND PASSING CAR IN LANE TO THE RIGHT, WITH NO CAR AHEAD IN SENSOR DISTANCE, BRAKES CAN SUDDENLY BE APPLIED. I CONTACTED HONDAUSA AND WAS REFERRED TO DEALER, WHICH WAS COGGIN HONDA, ST AUGUSTINE, FL. VEHICLE INSPECTED, SPOKE TO MECHANIC, WHO SAID HE IS HESITANT TO ADJUST FORWARD SENSOR CONE ON VEHICLE. FOR SAFETY REASONS, I NOW TRAVEL ON INTERSTATES USING TRADITIONAL CRUISE CONTROL. I DO NOT WANT TO BE REAR ENDED IF A VEHICLE BEHIND IS TAILGATING AND MY BRAKES ARE SUDDENLY APPLIED. I CANNOT ALWAYS GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A TAILGATER. THE SUDDEN APPLICATION OF BRAKES HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, NOT ONLY THE DATE LISTED AND ALWAYS ON A LIMITED ACCESS ROAD. I RARELY USE CRUISE CONTROL EXCEPT ON A LIMITED ACCESS ROAD. CONTROL.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 60 MPH. TRAFFIC WAS FLOWING. SUDDENLY, WITH NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME, THE CAR APPLIES THE BREAK AND I CAME DOWN IMMEDIATELY TO 30 MPH. IT WAS TERRIFYING AND LUCKILY NO ONE SLAMMED INTO ME.
