Onstar connectivity module failed after dealer updates. The onstar module controls super cruise hands free driving. Module can fail during use causing accident. Vehicle did not display any warning on display screen. Vehicle is available for inspection. GMC dealer confirmed onstar module failure and is waiting on part delivery for replacement. Several searches in online forums confirm this is an issue for thousands of GMC vehicles.
2023 Yukon Denali XL 6.2l: GM oil change recall performed (October 2025) and GMC dealership noted no issues. Prior to recall oil change, at aprox 5k miles interval (45K total miles), check engine oil light on dash and was over 1 quart low. Next oil change at aprox 50K miles, no check engine light came on, but certified mechanic drained and measure oil level, 1.5 quarts low. Engine often sounds odd at cold start, ticking sound. Now an oil change is $100 more, due to special oil, but not compensated for extra cost. Brake calibers failed. February 2026, engine light on, then off, then hood latch dash light warning now on and off. Huge safety concerns with the 2023 GMC Yukon 6.2L.
I am reporting a catastrophic engine failure involving my 2023 GMC Yukon XL Denali, which was subject to a GM-issued recall related to engine failure. On January 10, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., while traveling at highway speed (approximately 65+ mph) on a multi-lane highway, the engine suddenly failed without warning, resulting in a complete loss of power. I was forced to make immediate evasive maneuvers to reach the shoulder while avoiding semi-trucks and other vehicles. The sudden loss of power created an extremely dangerous situation for myself, my passengers, and surrounding traffic. After the engine failure, the vehicle could not be placed into neutral, preventing it from being moved out of traffic if it had stopped in an active lane. This design issue significantly increased the risk of a collision. I was stranded on the roadside for several hours in cold conditions awaiting a tow. The failure was later...
Following a catastrophic engine failure in my 2023 GMC Yukon XL Denali, I discovered that the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral once the engine failed. This prevented the vehicle from being moved out of traffic if it had stopped in an active lane. The inability to place the vehicle into neutral after a loss-of-power event creates a serious safety hazard, particularly on high-speed roadways. In the event of a failure occurring in traffic, occupants may be left stranded in a travel lane with no ability to push or reposition the vehicle, significantly increasing the risk of a rear-end or multi-vehicle collision. This condition occurred immediately following the engine failure and was not accompanied by any prior warning or instructions to allow safe vehicle repositioning. I am unaware of any manual or mechanical override that would allow the vehicle to be shifted into neutral under these conditions. This design...
There have been several issues for which I had to take my vehicle to the dealer. I did the engine oil recall. Then 4 months later my engine was destroyed. I’ve had several issues with oil leaks. I had an issue with my running boards a few times. And I’ve had an ongoing issue that the dealer hasn’t been able to fix - a water leak (I believe stemming from the moonroof), water gets into my vehicle, on my floorboard, and behind the dash. I’ve called to record these incidents with the dealer and taken it in several times, but they are never able to duplicate it, but they have witnessed the water leakage after the incidents (which happens during heavy downpours, and isn’t all the time because my vehicle is in the garage when I’m not at work).
Good afternoon, My 2023 GMC Yukon XL AT4 with the 6.2L L87 engine (approx. 61,000 miles) suffered a sudden and complete engine failure at highway speed while I was driving between Canton, OH, and Columbus, OH, on the expressway, returning to my home in Cincinnati. There was no warning before the engine lost all power and propulsion. I was traveling in the left lane of the interstate in moderately heavy traffic. When the engine shut down, I only had steering and braking available to me. In addition to losing all propulsion, I also lost all electronics, and there was no shoulder. The complete dashboard shut down. The only reason there was not a collision was that the traffic around me could see what was happening and slowed down themselves. I coasted on through the onramp and found a shoulder where I had three lanes of traffic on my left and...
Vehicle has 56000 miles currently and at 47000 transmission had to be replaced due to defective valve body. At 56000 miles, motor was replaced due to broken lifter. The vehicle currently will not start.
Details of the Issue: Vehicle Model: 2023 GMC Yukon Problem Description: The battery has drained completely on three separate occasions, leaving the vehicle unable to start and in cold weather areas safety is a concern. This occurs even when all lights and accessories are turned off, and the vehicle is parked for a reasonable period of time. The vehicle has been brought to the shop three times to address this issue. During one of these visits, a module failure was identified and repaired. However, the issue has occurred again since that repair, indicating that either the original repair did not fully resolve the problem or there may be additional underlying causes. Frequency: The issue has occurred three times to date, most recently on [insert date of the most recent incident]. Service History: The vehicle has been in the shop three times for this issue, and a module failure was identified...

Classic Buick GMC (Classic Elite Buick GMC – Katy) Filed by: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] Date: November 23, 2025 Texas Attorney General – Consumer Protection Division RE: SUMMARY COMPLAINT – Vehicle Misrepresentation, Unauthorized Charges, Financing Fraud & Warranty Violations Dear Attorney General, I am filing this complaint against Classic Buick GMC (Classic Elite Buick GMC) located at [XXX] , for multiple violations of Texas consumer-protection laws during the sale and follow-up service of a vehicle I purchased in March 2024. Summary of Violations 1. Misrepresentation of Vehicle Model Year I was sold a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali that the dealership falsely represented as a brand-new 2024 model, including on the key-tag. This violates Texas Occupations Code §2301.351(a) and DTPA §17.46(b)(5), (7), (24). 2. Unauthorized Add-Ons & Hidden Charges The dealership added $8,000 in accessories and $26,000 in warranty products without my consent. This violates DTPA §17.46(b)(12). 3....
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the message "You Have no Brakes - Do Not Drive Over 40 MPH" was displayed. The contact allowed the vehicle to roll to a stop. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The contact parked the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had not caused an accident because the contact was driving early in the morning and there was less traffic on the road. The contact stated that her husband started the vehicle later in the day, and the warning lights were off. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that several DTCs were retrieved, including a DTC...
My telecommunications module is no longer working for OnStar, which means I can no longer call if something happened. The Wi-Fi is not working. The vehicle thing is on recall and now my check engine light is on.
OnStar module doesn’t work it went out in January 2025 there’s a 1000’s of other users in the in the OnStar module community complaining of the same issues . When you take it to the dealership they will not assist and will not warranty it out
The onboard accident emergency notification system has failed after 2 years. The SOS and Onstar are not functional. Car has no data communication with the network. Was confirmed by Crenwelge Motors in Kerrville Texas. It is a GMC dealer. This is an ongoing problem with many Yukons made from 2022 to 2024. GM has not addressed the issue with a recall and does not have the parts to repair this safety system.
My vehicle’s engine failed for the second time while driving on the road. The first time a few months ago while my wife was driving. The engine failed and brakes failed. Fortunately she was on a back road a coasted to a stop. Car was towed to dealership. They said there was no problem. Received recall letter about a month ago outlining this issue. Yesterday, [XXX], I was driving with my daughter and the car stopped again while driving. I was in traffic and narrowly missed an accident. Gwinnett county police came to the scene and towed the vehicle to the dealership. I am not sure if the female officer made a report. But she requested the tow truck because I was blocking traffic. We often drive on the highway for work commutes. This could have happened and anyone in my family could have been fatally injured. I would like...
Speed control became stuck and I had to hit my breaks to stop acceleration. Vehicle stopped shifting while driving down the road periodically. Warning collision lights and traction control lights randomly come on with nothing in front of vehicle. Yesterday vehicle would not start or even unlock. When I did get the vehicle to start by manually unlocking it and trying over and over it would not go forward or backward although the engine did rev up. All warning lights were on including traction control and check engine. It did randomly start moving but the “service steering column” light and check engine light are still on . The car periodically revs up while going down a hill when it needs to downshift instead. It has completely shut off driving down the road through town and stopped. I had to hurry and turn it back on as there were cars behind...
I was driving on a highway with my [XXX] son and 2 dogs when without any warning the vehicle just stopped and completely went dead. I was unable to turn on the hazards so I called 911, the police came within minutes and surrounded the vehicle to keep us from being crashed into. The brakes failed to work, the hazard lights would not work, the doors would not open other than the driver door. The police had to help remove my child and 2 dogs from the vehicle through the driver door. The vehicle could not be put into neutral so the police had to tow the vehicle from the middle of the highway. The result could have been deadly. The vehicle was completely dead with absolutely no function. After the police towed it to the police tow facility it was then towed to the GMC dealership I purchased the...
While driving at approximately 30 mph in moderate traffic on the interstate during a return leg of a 370-mile trip, my vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and became unresponsive. The dashboard displayed the warning message: "condition not correct for shift," and despite repeated attempts to restart the engine, the vehicle would not engage. Although the electrical system remained active, I had no propulsion. Critically, the vehicle became immobilized in a **very dangerous curve on the interstate**, presenting an extreme safety risk to myself and others. The car could not be manually shifted into neutral for towing, prompting Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to declare the location unsafe. I was stranded there for over three hours, after dark, in a vulnerable and exposed position. During the forced tow process, two rear tires were destroyed and the two front tires sustained major damage. In the days leading up to this incident, the...
Good afternoon. Our rental car we picked up from the Denver International Airport on [XXX] had numerous incidents of emergent braking at highway and non highway speeds which were reported to Sixt ( car rental) and documented on the dates in which they occurred, [XXX] (7-8 occurrences ) and [XXX] (3 occurrences-2 after a car wash). On the day in which the first occurrences happened, the car rental company representative from Sixt, 3way connected me with a mechanic from Annex who advised washing the vehicle to ensure the sensors were clean. I did proceed to wash the vehicle on 1.25.25. This same company, Annex Automotive, then evaluated the vehicle on 1.29.25 after emergency breaking occurrences continued of which [XXX] was the worst. On [XXX] there were no vehicles in front of or behind us nor to the sides of us and the roads were completely clear. It was also dark...
Vehicle went to GM for recall repairs on 02/24/25 the morning after when I cranked my car it was dead. Jumped the car off then began hearing a "clicking noise" GM advised I replace my serpentine belt as they noticed it needed replacement when doing the recall repairs. 02/26/25 serpentine belt was replaced but car still seemed to have power issues when cranking. 02/27/25 car barely cranked then while driving down the highway I lost all power and power steering to the vehicle. There was no warning, no check engine lights etc. The screen went black then car shut off then the screen said "press start to restart." I was BARELY able to get the vehicle safely off the road with vehicles in front, behind, and in the other lanes. It could have caused a fatal accident. GMC still has my vehicle with NO UPDATE on replacement engine timeline.
•What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Driver and passenger side rear view mirrors will not hold memory and auto adjust while driving at times. Been to the dealership 5 times. They could not repair and just said that a software update should fix it, but it did not fix it. I will program the mirrors to the preferred settings but when I re-enter the vehicle after shutting it down, it doesn't always retain the memory, and they go to random positions. This usually happens after 5 miles of driving the vehicle. The passenger side mirror will go down so I could see the curbs while in reverse but when I go into Drive, it does not go all the way back up. I will be flying to visit family but the vehicle will be at a different dealership from 3/26/2025 to...
We were driving uphill on the highway, about 60 mph when the engine appeared to loose some power for about 10 seconds even though the engine was reving higher, and the ln the engine cut out. We coasted to a stop and then the electrical system was cutting out. I tried to restart the engine but it would not turn over at all, and the car’s electrical was intermittent. There was no warning or error lights before or during the engine failure. Photos provided are the messages on the instrument cluster when attempting to restart the engine. Vehicle was towed to the local GMC dealership, and they are replacing the engine under warranty. No eta on the engine replacement at this time.
At 9,900 miles my safety camera system failed which disabled the cruise control and all safety features that used the camera. Car was out of service for nearly two weeks and subsequently fixed by the dealer under warranty at no charge. At 11,300 miles I was driving on an interstate highway in the left lane at rush hour, without warning the car stopped accelerating the car shifted into neutral and totally lost power. It was a very dangerous situation with me in the left lane in heavy traffic. I am a skillful driver and thankfully I was able to make it off the travel lanes on the highway. The temperature was 18 degrees at the time and I had to wait outside for a tow truck. The engine seized without warning or noise and this presents a severe danger to the driver of the vehicle and other vehicles on the...
The 2023 GMC Yukon had a complete loss of power and engine while driving 65 mph on a highway. The vehicle was unable to restart or be placed into neutral. No previous issues and no indications of failures. No fault codes or lights indicating any issues. Dealership informed me that the engine stopped working and gave an estimate of greater than 4 months for any replacement or repair.
I have had this vehicle serviced twice for the electrical issue on the running boards. While driving and while parked the running boards constantly deploy and store on their own or get stuck at a half way position. This will happen even if I have them turned off or on.
Engine shut off at freeway speeds (65mph) on 2 occasions. Driver was able to coast over to side of freeway both times. On 1st occasion CHP protected vehicle from other traffic on i-5 with safety lights and traffic control. On second occasion, tow truck came quickly and kids were evacuated to prevent heat stroke in 113 degree weather. The first incident was “repaired” with a new starter and battery fuse block at 21720mi, but only lasted to 21814mi before same event occurred. No warning of failure before or after incident, just a dead engine. Second event (7/2/2024) is still being investigated by dealership.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated while driving 86 MPH in the middle lane, the vehicle shut off on five occasions. The vehicle was restarted, the steering column was locked, and the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The contact stated that the rear axle had disengaged. The suspension leveling system had failed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was an electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 39,000.
I recently purchased my vehicle and after already transporting my family of 5, including my newborn child for several days, I noticed that my parking sensors were not working and I began receiving a message of my dash that parking assist, rear braking and auto park assist were unavailable. I reached out to GM around 4/4 informing them of the issue and they said they didn't have any recalls or retrofits for my vehicle and advised me to take it to a dealer's service deparment to be reviewed. After having an issue with Simpson GMC of Buena Park of failing to even review my issue for a week, I took it to Penske GMC of Cerritos on 4/17 and they determined that during manufacturing of the vehicle, someone failed to connect the module that controls my parking sensors. They had to remove the front fascia of my vehicle to connect...
While driving in a gravel driveway, the window curtain airbags and the middle console airbags deployed, with no collision what so ever causing injury to the driver and should you have a child this could have been very damaging as the airbags came out in all the way back through the vehicle. This incident was inspected by police and fire as OnStar called them as it detected a collision, and without the vehicle being moved from the location the officer said there is nothing that should have caused the airbags to deploy, there is absolutely nothing here in this driveway that could have possible caused airbag deployment, The running boards go in and out, even when on the interstate constantly, and when backing up or going forward at times, and especially in a gravel driveway your automatic breaks will stop you abruptly, so fast that your seat belt will lock...
