2021 GENESIS GV80 Fuelpropulsion System Problems

Subject: Safety Complaint – Fuel Door Malfunction on Genesis Vehicle Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally file a safety-related complaint regarding a fuel door malfunction on my Genesis vehicle. This defect has left me unable to access the fuel tank, presenting a serious safety risk—particularly the possibility of being stranded without fuel, which poses a threat to both driver and passenger safety. I have been informed by both Genesis Customer Care and the Genesis dealership in Huntsville, Alabama that this issue is common and recurring across multiple Genesis models. It is not the result of wear and tear, and is unrelated to mileage. This is a design or mechanical flaw that directly compromises vehicle operability. Despite acknowledgment that this is a known defect, Genesis has refused to resolve the issue under warranty, even though it is clearly a safety-related failure. I was driving approx 15 MPH i drove through a S turn in a residential area at slow speed . Suddenly my vehicle lost power and I hit a parked car . The right front corner was damaged. The driver side airbags, deployed the passenger side air bags did not deploy automatic break did not work. The safety warning did not go off . The vehicle was taken to my yard where it was later taken to a body shop, I found out later this shop was not an approved Allstate shop which was a mistake with Repair was done poorly, and not completeld I don’t think it’s safe to drive. I was driving my Genesis GV 80 in January and in the Trac near my work and I came out of a s turn and the car seemed to over correct and lost power.. I hit a parked car and it was pushed onto 2 other cars .My front end was damaged and airbags deployed. My seatbelt jerked me and was damages . There have been recalls on this vehicle for fuel pump problem which causes crashes. There's been a recall in this vehicle for the seatbelt explodes. There's also a problem with the headlight doesn't work and it's full of water. The seals are bad in the headlight has not been recalled yet. I want Genesis to take responsibility for this accident and compensate me. I'm taking my car into the dealership today Las Vegas with Las Vegas Genesis to discuss this issue and have them take a look...

The car is not accelerating or needs hard acceleration to move. It is also losing power intermittently. The car can not accelerate to pass a vehicle. The transmission is behaving erraticly. Causing severe back pain accelerating the car in normal city driving. The RPMs exceed 4000 reaching a speed of 45 miles an hour making the car engine very noisy.

On two occasions in the last month the car has suffered a loss of power with the accelerator unresponsive to input. After 5-10 seconds of this still actively occurring the car began to shake violently while I was trying to find a safe place to stop the car out of the traffic lanes. Within a minute or so things would go back to normal. The first time I was in a 35mph zone so the car was relatively controllable but unable to keep at speed. The second time was on the interstate at 70mph in heavy traffic. The car reacted much more dangerously at this speed. The loss of power was more severe and the violent bucking and shaking of the car was very severe. I thought parts would start falling off the car at any moment, it was that violent. I bought my 2021 GV80 used with 15,500 miles. After driving not even 100 miles, we experienced the vehicle stalling and having no power. Giving it gas, the RPM's would not rise and the engine then shut off. The engine light briefly turned on but did not stay on. After the car shut down and turned back on, we kept driving. We took the vehicle immediately to the dealer where they proceeded to tell us there is nothing wrong because the diagnostics came back fine. But now this exact same thing has happened on 7 different occasions after driving a little over 1,000 miles. This has happened on the freeway, on busy intersections and feel unsafe to drive. The fuel cap never opens up right away. It is not an emergency, but it is very time consuming, trying to repeatedly lock and unlock my door several times before the fuel door is released. I am unsure of what to do. It states that the driver's side door must be unlocked before the fuel door is released, I have to lock/unlock my door multiple times before the cap is released.

PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND WITHIN 1,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEM. BACKORDER ON PARTS, SO THE CARE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR AS LONG AS WE HAVE OWNED IT. WONDER IF SIMILAR ISSUE TO THAT WHICH LED TO RECALL OF THE 2021 G70?
