Complete ICCU failure resulting in loss of power on the freeway during rush hour, extremely dangerous for me and everyone around me. Car was towed twice over three years for the same issue, despite having all recalls done. Eventually lemon law eligible, did a buyback.
Water pump failure in vehicle less than two years of age. Dealer stated car was not safe to drive. Instrument cluster had a warning light, the app had details of the failures, and the display in the vehicle had a pop up stating the car needed to be serviced TODAY!
On October 17, 2024 one of the rear axles fractured when the car was driven by a dealer employee from our home to Genesis of Kirkland (WA) to resolve another matter, necessitating towing to the dealership. It was found by the dealer service department that the rear motor was damaged also. I am not aware of the speed of the car when the incident occurred. On November 22 I was told that the axle and rear motor had been repaired. I assume the other axle was not replaced as well. Previously on September 7, 2024 the car was brought to Genesis of Everett (now Genesis of Kirkland) both rear axles were replaced after a recall indicating a manufacturing fault in the axles. There have been no warning lights, messages or other indications that the fractures were imminent. During the incident there was a loud noise and loss of propulsive power....
Stopped car in a parking spot for a few minutes. Reversed and proceeded to put the car into drive. Immediately upon switching to Drive, the vehicle produced a loud pop from the rear and announced the check electrical system error. Recall Service 907G was performed on the vehicle in question 2 months prior and was reported as closed when checking by the VIN. However the ICCU and High Voltage Fuse is needing to be replaced with no ETA on the replacement part(s) as of this reports submission. Dealership advised NOT to drive the vehicle and arranged a tow. Car has been at the dealership for over a week now.
THE ISSUE IS WITH THE LEVEL 2 CHARGING, THE CAR STOPS CHARGING AND CAN LEAVE THE CAR UNUSABLE OR WITH LIMITED MILEAGE AVAILABLE. THE CHARGING PORT OVERHEATS AND THE CAR STOPS CHARGING AND WILL NOT RESTART WITHOUT OPERATOR ACTION. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY CARS ON THIS PLATFORM. HYUNDIA IONIQ 5, KIA EV6. MY CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, CHARGE PORT OVERHEATING CODE WAS REGISTERED. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD TO CHARGE AT 48A / 240V LEVEL 2.
