2024 FORD EXPEDITION Suspension Problems

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at speeds between 60 MPH - 80 MPH, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately six times however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

The differential came apart while my family and I were traveling on the highway out of town. This cause the vehicle to start violently jolting and wheels locked up. The vehicle began to skid across the center line into on coming traffic, we were almost hit head on and from behind due to this. My husband couldn’t get the vehicle to move, it was making a grinding and screeching noise. Finally, he got it into 4x4 mode and was able to move the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. This was a very traumatic and terrifying experience for my whole family, we literally thought we were doing to die. Not to mention, there was no indication or warning that notified us on the dashboard. The contact stated that the failure was present at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times regarding the failure, however the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the dealer replaced and balanced all four tires, however the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the dealer requested that the vehicle be inspected by the engineer, however, the request was denied by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150.
