I change my brakes twice in not even a full month My alternator belt came off I replaced it when I put it in park it rolls it shakes and it takes a minute to go faster once I go 40 mph the acceleration pedal vibrates tire pressure sensor stays on and also it keep saying check fuel tank injector
3/28/2021 MILEAGE 138141, 1 DAY AFTER FILLING TANK NOTICED STRONG ORDER OF GASOLINE COMING FROM UNDER CAR AND GASOLINE LEAKING OUT OF TOP OF TANK WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. TRACKED SOURCE OF LEAK TO A 1 INCH CRACK IN TOP OF TANK ABOUT 2 INCHES FORWARD AND TO THE LEFT OF THE FUEL PUMP WHERE THE TANK HEIGHT CHANGES AND GETS TALLER, APPEARS TO BE STRESS CRACK. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODES PRESENT. THIS YEAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A STEEL TANK NOT PLASTIC. REPLACEMENT TANK DISCONTINUED BY FORD, SOURCED AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT.
PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF A BUSINESS WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP THE CURB AND SIDE SWIPE A BRICK COLUMN BEFORE HITTING A BENCH BY THEN I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION STOPPING THE CAR. CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND THE PROPERTY
AUTO CREDIT NEVER FIXED THE RECALLS. *TR
WHEN PUSHING THROTTLE, ENGINE HESITATES. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO DEALER BEFORE, BUT THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I SUSPECT THROTTLE BODY BUT NOW NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH UNDER RECALL. I BELIEVE TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. 48000 MILES.
DURING OPERATION VEHICLE LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS STILL EXISTED. YELLOW SERVICE RANCH APPEARED ON DASH HAD TO PULL OVER AND PUT CAR IN PARK, I DON'T WAS VERY ROUGH TURN ENGINE OFF. AFTER STARTING CAR BACK UP ALL LIGHTS WERE GONE, ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. THIS HAS NOW OCCURRED MORE THAN 20 TIMES. WE HAVE REPLACED BOTH OXYGEN SENSORS,THE PURGE CANISTER AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON LARGE HIGHWAYS OR A MULTILANE INTERSTATE IT BECOMES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

INTERMITTENT ROUGH IDLE/STALLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AS WELL AS HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING AT ALL SPEEDS. THROTTLE BODY REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN ISSUE FIRST PRESENTED LAST YEAR; SYMPTOMS PERSIST WITHOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT; INDEPENDENT MECHANIC UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE/REPRODUCE ISSUE. ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR THE LAST TWELVE MONTHS WITHOUT RESOLUTION.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. CAR STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING AT INTERSECTION. VERY DANGEROUS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON CODE P2112. ISSUE HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND CAR STARTS AGAIN AFTER STALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL VALVE REMAINED OPENED AND EVAPORATED. THE DEALER (COMMERCIAL MOTOR COMPANY, 160 S COMMERCIAL ST, ARANSAS PASS, TX 78336) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL ODOR WOULD NOT AFFECT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,897.
LEE AUTO SALES LIED TO ME. THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I FOUND A BUNCH OF DEFECTS.
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN IDLING, EVEN IF ONLY FOR SECONDS AND SURGES FORWARD RANDOMLY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROADWAY. IT HAS STALLED ON ME UP TO 8-10 TIMES IN ONE TRIP FROM SCOTTSDALE TO PHOENIX. IT WILL STALL ROLLING TO A STOP AS WELL AND HAS STALLED ON BUSY ROADWAYS AND IN INTERSECTIONS, PUTTING ME IN GREAT DANGER. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED T HUNDREDS OF OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AND SO FAR NO MECHANIC OR EVEN THE FORD DEALERSHIP CAN PIN POINT THE CAUSE. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN REPORTING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR CARS WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES AND OTHERS HAVE REPRTED THAT THE CAR STALLS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND I AM NOW AFRAID IT WILL ESCALATE.
THE 2010 TO 2012 HAS A RECALL INVOLVING THE FUEL SYSTEM LEAKING. MY VEHICLE IS ALSO LEAKING FUEL EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED (NO, WE DO NOT "TOP OFF"), AND THE FUMES ARE NOTICEABLE IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES.

THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 192,000.
WAS ACCELERATING AFTER COASTING TO SLOW DOWN FOR A TURN ON CITY STREETS. ENGINE STALLED OUT AND SERVICE, OIL, AND BATTERY LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED ON THE PANEL. VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUE. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS, ALL IN SIMLIAR SCENARIOS WHERE ACCELERATING AFTER COASTING.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY: DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, I WAS ABLE TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND MAKE IT SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE ON. A FEW DAYS LATER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, FORTUNATELY ON A LESS CROWDED STREET.
PURCHASED USED 2009 ESCAPE IN APRIL 2016. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND GAS LEAKS OVER TIRE WELL WHEN THE TANK IS FILLED ALL THE WAY. TOOK IT IN AND UPON SMOKE TEST DEALERSHIP STATED THE TOP OF THE TANK IS RUSTED WITH PINHOLES. TRYING TO CHARGE ME $1600 TO REPAIR WITH THE FILLER PIECE. NOT DISCLAIMED UPON PURCHASE. CAR WAS INSPECTED PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
THIS HAPPENS IN ALL CONDITIONS. ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER AND START STUTTERING LIKE IT IS MISSING. EXHAUST WILL STINK AND DARKEN ENOUGH SO THAT IT IS VISIBLE. ACCELERATOR WILL NOT WORK AS NORMAL. VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY STALL AS SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. FUEL PUMP REPLACED TWICE IN 2 DAYS. MECHANICS FIND NO CODES STORED. THROTTLE BODY REPLACED UNDER FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM. IT REOCCURRED THE NEXT DAY. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. THE VEHICLE WILL SLOW AND STALL SUDDENLY AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
GAS TANK. LOTS OF CORROSION WHERE FILLER NECK CONNECTS TO THE GAS TANK. WHEN GAS TANK IS FULL GAS LEAKS FROM THE CORROSION POINT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE WHEN I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR. I MOVED THE VEHICLE TO THE DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED A WET SPOT ON THE GARAGE FLOOR THAT REEKED OF GAS. THE SPOT CORRESPONDS TO THE AREA BELOW THE GAS TANK FILLER. I'M CONCERNED THE LEAKING GAS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD AND ALSO CONCERNED THE LEAKING GAS MAY IGNITE CAUSING A FIRE AND POSSIBLE EXPLOSION. HELP!!!

WRENCH LIGHT KEEP COMING ON IN MOTION
MY FORD ESCAPE HAS INTERMITTENT STALLING OR SEEMS LIKE LOSS OF POWER, CAR WILL STAY ON BUT SEEM LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL. IF TRYING TO GIVE IT GAS IT DOES NOT RESPOND. ONCE TURNED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN IT WORKS LIKE NORMAL UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. IT CAN HAPPEN AT TAKE OFF OR WHILE ON THE FREEWAY GOING WITH THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC ALL OF A SUDDEN. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS NOTHING BUT AS TIME HAS PASSED IT HAS BECOME MORE REGULAR AND NOW I AM HAVING TO GET IT REPAIRED.
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN LEAKING FUEL SINCE FEB. 2016 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I'VE REPLACED THE EVAP. CANISTER DUE TO THE LEAK, THE SEAL WITH IT AS WELL, AND THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE. ALL THIS WORK WAS DONE AT 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS. I WAS STILL LEAKING FUEL AND WROTE TO FORD WHO TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD FIX IT GRATIS. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE GASKET GOING INTO THE TANK AND THAT "SHOULD" TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. IT DIDN'T. GAS FUMES STILL FILLED MY CAR, AND LEAKED GAS ALL OVER THE GROUND WHEREVER I DROVE OR PARKED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM I WAS STILL LEAKING FUEL, BUT NO ENGINE LIGHT AS IN THE LAST VISIT. THEY COULD SMELL IT AND SEE IT HAD SOAKED THE REAR END OF MY VEHICLE. THIS TIME...
I HAD MY EVAP CANISTER LEAK WHICH I PAID TO HAVE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES AGO ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO A GAS LEAK. NOW I'VE BEEN TOLD THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE SEAL BECAUSE IT IS LEAKING FUEL AROUND THIS EVAP CANISTER AND IT'S A "CLOSED" SYSTEM. THEY CLAIM THE SEAL BLEW BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM WHEN THEY PUT IN THE NEW EVAP CANISTER. THEY OFFERED TO DO THIS FOR AN ADDITIONAL $178.60 AT FORD'S QUICK LANE SERVICE. WHEN THEY REPLACED THE EVAP CANISTER WHY DIDN'T THEY REDO THE SEAL THEN? THEY CLAIM IT DIDN'T SHOW ON THE CODES IN THE COMPUTER. YET THE GAS SMELL NEVER WENT AWAY AND I FOUND GAS UNDER MY VEHICLE EVERYDAY FROM BEFORE AND SINCE THE "REPAIR" OF THE EVAP CANISTER. I WAS AWAY AND WHEN I RETURNED I CALLED THEM AND TOOK IT IN AND THAT'S WHEN I WAS GIVEN THIS INFORMATION....

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS RUSTED. IN ADDITION, IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO IDLE DURING DRIVING MODE. THE VEHICLE WOULD "LIMP ALONG" WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE TO PRESSING DOWN THE ACCELERATOR. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN STARTING IT AGAIN WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE UNTIL IT OCCURRED AGAIN.
CAR SPUTTERED OUT AS I PULLED INTO TRAFFIC.
THE FIRST TWO TIMES THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WERE IMMEDIATELY AFTER BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, GOING TO WORK. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND ACCELERATED. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE CAR LOST POWER AND SLOWED--PUTTED ALONG AS IF IT WERE RUNNING ON 2 CYLINDERS. I STOPPED, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED PERHAPS 20-30 SECONDS, THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THEN ENGINE THEN RAN FINE, AND I CONTINUTED ON MY WAY. YESTERDAY, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STRUCK 3 TIMES AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. EACH TIME, I TRIED THE ABOVE RESPONSE, AND IT WORKED--FOR A SHORT TIME. I LIVE ABOUT 4 MILES FROM WORK, AND THE PROBLEM AROSE 3 TIMES IN THE APPROX. 15 MINUTES IT TAKES TO DRIVE HOME. MY WIFE MENTIONED THAT THE PROBLEM STRUCK WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING THE CAR THE DAY BEFORE.

I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED AN ADDITIONAL TWO TIMES ABOUT TWO WEEKS APART FROM THE FIRST INCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO USE MY OWN OBD II CODE SCANNER TO DETECT THE ERROR CODE P2111. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS COMPONENT WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAULTY AND FORD MOTOR CORPORATION ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THIS COMPONENT. HOWEVER, FORD WILL ONLY REPLACE THIS PART IF THEY ARE ABLE TO DOCUMENT THE ERROR CODE THEMSELVES ON THEIR CODE SCANNER. THE PROBLEM LIES IN THE DESIGN OF THIS VEHICLE IN THAT IT WON'T STORE THIS PARTICULAR CODE. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS, THE ONLY...

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP MALFUNCTIONED AND THE TRANSMISSION DEVELOPED A LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

STARTED ACCELERATING AS I WAS APPROACHING THE FREEWAY ENTRANCE, SUDDENLY LOST POWER. PUSHED DOWN ON GAS PEDAL AND FELT NO RESPONSE IN ACCELERATION. TURNED ON HAZARDS AND CROSSED TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AS I STOPPED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE CAR SEEMED JERKY LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TUNED OFF THE ENGINE. RESTARTED THE CAR, IT DIDN'T FIRE UP RIGHT AWAY AS IT USUALLY DOES, HOWEVER IT DID START. PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT THAT DAY. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING AT 70 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, CAR AGAIN SUDDENLY LOSES POWER, SLOWS WAY DOWN, NO RESPONSE WHEN PUSHING ON GAS PEDAL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN. TURNED ON HAZARDS AND HAD TO CROSS 4 LANES OF HEAVY MORNING COMMUTING TRAFFIC TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. AS I STOPPED THE CAR, AGAIN IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE MOTOR. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, WHICH DIDN'T FIRE UP AS USUAL, BUT IT DID RESTART. PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND DROVE TO WORK WITHOUT INCIDENT. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE! PEOPLE ON THE FREEWAY WERE NOT WILLING TO SLOW DOWN TO LET ME OVER, THE KEPT FLYING AROUND ME. I CALLED TWO DEALERSHIPS AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND BOTH SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME...
I DRIVE A 2009 FORD ESCAPE WHICH HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. IN MARCH OF 2015 I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT PUDDLES OF GASOLINE WERE APPEARING UNDER MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS LEAKING. THIS IS ARGUABLY ONE OF THE MOST SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARDS THAT CAN BE FOUND ON A VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY FOR ONE THAT IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. FORD SHOULD HAVE ADEQUATE MEASURES IN PLACE TO PREVENT RUST ON SUCH A CRUCIAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
THROTTLE BODY EMISSIONS SENSOR. EEC TEST CODES FOR THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS A & B. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON AND GO OFF PERIODICALLY. HAD IS CHECKED OUT AT MULTIPLE PLACES OVER THE NEXT YEAR AND NOW IS OVER 80,000 AND FORD REFUSES TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
WAS ENTERING HIGHWAY, ATTEMPTING TO MERGE. ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND IT STALLED. WE WERE APPROXIMATELY 115 MILES FROM HOME, AND IT ATTEMPTED TO STALL TWICE ON THE WAY HOME. TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER, THEY TRIED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH NO LUCK, KEPT IT OVERNIGHT TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT DAY IN HOPES IT WOULD DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, BUT, IT DIDN'T. FORD ESCAPE- PROBLEM WITH "CHECK FUEL INLET" LIGHT AND "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. I TOOK MY CAR (ORIGINAL OWNER) IN THE FIRST TIME AND PAID CLOSE TO $500 TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK RUN TO "FIX" THE ISSUE, ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REOCCUR DAYS LATER. THE "CHECK FUEL INLET" LIGHT USUALLY COMES AND GOES, BUT RECENTLY HAS REMAINED STEADY. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. I HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANT ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND ANY ADDITIONAL REPAIRS WILL BE OUT OF MY POCKET. I GOGGLED " FORD CHECK FUEL INLET" AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. EVERYONE KEEPS TAKING THEIR FORD ESCAPE IN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED, ONLY TO FIND THE LIGHT RETURNS LATER AND THEY ARE PAYING ADDITIONAL FEES FOR MORE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIRS. SEPTEMBER 10 2014, VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT HENRY CURTIS FORD IN PETALUMA CALIFORNIA FOR RECALL 14S05. PRIOR TO THIS RECALL, WE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH OUR VEHICLE. OCTOBER 3 2014, VEHICLE STALLED AT 65 MPH DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING UP HILL ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY TO THE SHOULDER. VEHICLE TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP, UNABLE TO FIND ANY ERROR CODES. VEHICLE TOWED TO HENRY CURTIS FORD DEALERSHIP IN PETALUMA CALIFORNIA WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2008. A $145 DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE AND ONLY ONE ERROR CODE WAS REPORTED BY THE DEALER. CODE B1239 ( AIR FLOW BLEND DOOR DRIVER CIRCUIT FAILURE). VEHICLE STALLED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. OIL CHANGE LIGHT AND LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON A WEEK LATER. HAD MAINTENANCE DONE A WEEK LATER. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT ANY RECALLS. NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REALLY LOOSE AFTER ROTATE AND BALANCE WAS DONE. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED ISSUE WITH STEERING. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT MAY NEED ALIGNMENT BUT COULD NOT DO SERVICE UNTIL NEXT WEEK. PUT GAS IN CAR AND VEHICLE STALLED. BATTERY AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER A FEW MORE TIMES WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED. STALLED AGAIN STALLED AGAIN AT STOP LIGHT. MADE IT TO AUTO PARTS SHOP AND PUT FUEL INJECTION FLUID IN TANK. CAR STALLED. FINALLY STARTED AGAIN. MADE IT TO REPAIR SHOP. DID DIAGNOSTIC TESTS NO CODES REPORTED. THEY EXAMINED THE FUEL AND IT WAS GOOD. THEY GUESSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MAY NEED REPLACING. I RESEARCHED RECALLS...
VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOOSES POWER AND IDLES HARD. REPEATEDLY OVER THE PAST MONTH WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP VEHICLE WILL LOOSE ALL ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WILL STILL MOVE FORWARD AS IF IT WAS IN GEAR WITHOUT YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS/BRAKE. I WAS ALMOST T-BONED WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE SUDDENLY I HAD NO POWER. I HAVE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF THEN START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND IT WILL WORK JUST FINE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ONCE THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER BUT ONCE YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON IT IS GONE. *TR
AT 35 MPH AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON, ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING AND DID NOT RESPOND TO PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL. IN LESS THAN ONE MINUTE THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING ALTOGETHER. I TURNED OFF IGNITION KEY AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TRIED RESTARTING THE ENGINE. IT RESTARTED AND RAN PROPERLY AFTERWARDS. CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALER AND DESCRIBED PROBLEM AND THEY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY - ABOUT AN $800 REPAIR. WENT ON LINE TO RESEARCH PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THERE ARE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET FORD HAS DONE AND IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. MY '09 ESCAPE HAS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 36,000 MILES ON IT. LUCKILY I WASN'T PULLING OUT INTO OR DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THIS THING WENT OUT. I HOPE FORD DOESN'T WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE BEFORE THEY CORRECT & RECALL VEHICLES...
HAD CAR SET ON CRUISE CONTROL, FELT A POP OR A SNAP UNDER CAR, LOOKED DOWN AND CRUISE WENT OFF AND I WAS COASTING, I HAD MY FOOT IN THE GAS AND THE RPM'S WERE AT 1000, GAS WAS NOT REVVING AND THE RPM'S DIDN'T MOVE, COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF, BUT IT DIDN'T. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS FINE, UNTIL 3 DAYS LATER WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. HAVE TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS NOT TRIPPING A CODE AND THAT THEY CAN'T REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY UNTIL THEY HAVE A CODE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A LOANER CAR SINCE LAST FRIDAY AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THE INCIDENT. *TR
P2111, THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK OPEN, I HAD TO DRIVE TO AN AUTO ZONE TO GET THIS CODE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THIS CONDITION. OTHERWISE THESE WAS NO ERROR CODE RECORDED. THE ENGINE RUN AT AN IDLE AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED. *JS
AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A LIMP MODE. I HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE FORWARD AT A IDLE SPEED. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED VEHICLE RAN AS NORMAL FOR A FEW DAYS AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY 2009 FORD ESCAPE (V6) HOME FROM WORK, MY CAR LOST ACCELERATION. ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN SUDDENLY THE ESCAPE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. I COASTED TO THE RIGHT TURN LANE THEN STOPPED. TURNED THE ESCAPE OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND THEN TRIED STARTING IT. IT STARTED BUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHOOK. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE ESCAPE TO CRAWL TO A PARKING LOT. I TURNED IT BACK OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES LONGER. AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES, I TRIED STARTING IT AND IT SEEMED TO RUN JUST FINE. ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, I HAD A REPEAT OF THIS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOOSE GAS POWER, BUT MY BRAKES AND STEERING STILL WORKS FINE.
