ON AUGUST 28, 2015 MY MOTORHOME, BUILT ON A FORD F53 CHASSIS, SPUTTERED TO A HALT ON A BUSY FREEWAY DUE TO A FAILING OVERHEATED FUEL PUMP. THE FORD PART NUMBER FOR THIS FAILED PUMP IS F6PU9H307DB. MY FUEL PUMP, WHICH I HAD REPLACED ONLY THREE YEARS EARLIER ON JULY 10, 2010 FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, HAD ONLY 750 MILES OF USE ON IT. THE REPLACEMENT PUMP'S OVERHEATING FAILURE HAD AGAIN ENDANGERED MYSELF, AND EVERYONE TRAVELING IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. MY MOTORHOME'S GVWR IS 17,000 POUNDS. ON A VEHICLE WEIGHING 17,000+ POUNDS, THESE FUEL PUMPS NEED TO BE BULITPROOF!! THIS LATEST FUEL PUMP REPAIR COST ME $1,323. THE PREVIOUS NEW PUMP, REPLACED JUST THREE YEARS AGO AT A FORD DEALERSHIP, COST ME $1,143. FORD CLAIMS THE PUMP I REPLACED JUST THREE YEARS AGO IS OUT OF WARRANTY (A WARRANTY OF JUST 2YRS OR 12,5000 MILES, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST), AND FORD HAS DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. IF ONE RESEARCHES "FORD F53 FUEL PUMP PROBLEM" ON GOOGLE YOU WILL FIND HUNDREDS OF ACCOUNTS BY MOTORISTS OF THE FAILURE OF THIS VEHICLE'S FUEL PUMPS. FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THIS FUEL PUMP! WHY WOULD THEY? FORD MAKES MORE THAN $1,000 WITH EACH FAILURE. AND, THE GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO FORCE FORD TO DO THE RESPONSIBLE THING. WHICH IS TO FIX THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. IT'S ONLY BECAUSE OF PURE LUCK, AND THE DETERMINATION OF RESPONSIBLE THE DRIVERS OF THESE LARGE VEHICLES, THAT THE REPEATED FAILURE OF THESE PUMPS HASN'T CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS, AND DEATH. OR, HAVE THERE ALREADY BEEN SUCH ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS? MY NEW FUEL PUMP FOR THIS VEHICLE, WHICH ALSO IS WARRANTED FOR ONLY TWO YEARS, OR 12,500 MILES, IS PART NUMBER F6PZ9H307DB. THESE FUEL PUMPS ARE SO DANGEROUS THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD REQUIRE THAT FORD ACCOUNT TO THEM FOR EVERY REPLACEMENT PUMP INSTALLED OVER THE LAST TEN YEARS. THESE FUEL PUMP FAILURES AREN'T HAPPENING BECAUSE OF POOR USER MAINTENANCE.
