The contact owns a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, she noticed fire coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that she was able to move the vehicle to the shoulder of the road and used a fire extinguisher that she had inside the vehicle to extinguish the fire. The contact stated there were no warning lights illuminating. The contact stated that no police report or fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed with multiple wires burned, oil mixed with bellows, and no motive power. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure has reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,495.
The contact owns a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 01V037000 (Vehicle Speed Control) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that parts to perform the recall repair had been discontinued. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. DASHBOARD OF THE 1995 DODGE RAM 3500 CRACKED AND CAVED IN. WE SAW A STORY ABOUT OTHERS ON WKMG WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT WE WERE HAVING WITH OUR DODGE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH DRIVER HEARD A RATTLING SOUND. DRIVER PULLED OVER, GOT OUT, AND SMELLED FUMES. TO HIS SURPRISE THE FUEL TANK HAD DETACHED FROM THE TRUCK AND WAS DRAGGING ON THE ROAD. MECHANIC WAS AMAZED THAT THE FUEL TANK DIDN'T BURST INTO FLAMES BECAUSE OF A FIST SIZED HOLE. THE STRAPS THAT SUPPORT THE FUEL TANK WERE NEVER FOUND, AND THE PART WAS NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. *AK *TC
