TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED AND UNDERGOING AN INSPECTION, THE INSPECTOR NOTICED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD WAS LOOSE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE BUT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED HE NOTICED A NOISE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN HE EXAMINED THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT BALL JOINT TENSION STRUTS WERE LOOSE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FRONT BALL JOIN TENSION STRUT. THE MANUFACTURER EXPEDITED THE TENSION STRUT TO THE DEALER TO ASSIST THE CONTACT WITH THE REPAIR. CASE 19616527 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000. UPDATED 09/22/10. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE TENSION STRUT ON THE LEFT FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE TENSION STRUT HAS A BALL JOINT CONNECTION ON ONE END. THE BALL JOINT ON HIS VEHICLE WAS LOOSE AND FATIGUED. IT WOULD RATTLE AT LOW SPEEDS. UPDATED 09/23/10
OVER BUMPS ON SLOW SPEED FRONT SUSPENSION WOULD MAKE A CLUNK. HAD IT LOOKED AT DEALER REPLACED TIEROD ENDS. CLUNK STILL THERE. TENSION STRUTS WERE THEN INSPECTED AND REPLACED ALONG WITH SWAY BAR BUSHINGS AT OWN EXPENSE. CLUNK GONE. UNDER 30,000 MILES ON CAR. *TR
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT KIND OF ACCIDENT OF INJURY IT MAY CAUSE BUT I HAVE A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM AND I HAVE HAD THE BUSHING CHANGED ON THE FRONT END THE FRONT END IS CAUSING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS AND I KNOW SEVERAL OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD THE WORK REPAIRED AND IT HAVE RAN INTO THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THE 300 CHRYSLER WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH MADE ON THE SAME LINE AS THE "DODGE HAS HAD THE SAME FRONT END PROBLEM AND AT THIS TIME UNTIL I FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG I WONT BE TRAVELING ANY DISTANCE. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS ABOUT TO FALL APART EVERY BUMP FEEL LIKE ITS HITTING THE FRAME AND POPPING SOUND WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED ALL THE WAY. I BOUGHT NEW TIRES BECAUSE OF THE SHORT LIFE THEY SHOWED AT 30,000 MILES IT SOUNDED BETTER AND FELT BETTER FOR ABOUT A 3...
THE CLUNK. I HAVE A 2005 MAGNUM WITH 79000 MILES AND A 2006 CHARGER WITH 37000 AND THEY BOTH CLUNKING THE FRONT END WHEN GOING OVER ROAD BUMPS. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS WHICH INCLUDE THE TENSION ARMS...ABOUT $800. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE TIE RODS ENDS, WHICH WAS ANOTHER $250.00 THE CLUNKING NOISE IS STILL THERE.*TR
2005 DODGE MAGNUM, AT 40,000 THE TIE RODS WENT ON MY CAR. KIND OF STRANGE BECAUSE OUT OF ALL THINGS TO GO ON A CAR, THE TIE RODS AREN'T USUALLY ONE OF THEM, ESPECIALLY AFTER 40,000 MILES. SO I WENT TO THE INTERNET TO CHECK IT OUT AND I FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MAGNUM TIE RODS BEING DEFECTIVE. WHY WASN'T THERE A RECALL ON THIS? I HAD THEM REPLACED WITH A SUPERIOR AFTER MARKET TIE ROD. I DIDN'T WANT TO USE OEM FOR THE FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN AFTER 40,000 MILES. IT'S A KNOWN FACT THAT THE TIE RODS ON THESE CAR, AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION IN GENERAL, ARE DEFECTIVE. YET CHRYSLER DID NOT DO A RECALL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. WHAT CAN I DO? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM. THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING NOISE UNDERNEATH HER FEET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD AND INSTALLED A NEW TIRE. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID NOZZLES AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WERE INOPERABLE. WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE LEFT OR RIGHT, A SQUEALING NOISE WAS HEARD. WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WOULD SLAM DOWN AND WAS UNABLE TO ABSORB THE SHOCK OF THE BUMP. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STRUTS AND SHOCKS WERE FINE ON THE VEHICLE. CURRENTLY, THE FAILURES STILL PERSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 80,000.
MY SON, AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY TURNED NORTH ON CHAFFEE ROAD TO GO HOME. HE WENT TO CHANGE LANES INTO THE LEFT LANE WHERE THE ROAD TURNED TO A FOUR LANE ROAD AND, AS REPORTED BY A WITNESS, SMOKE CAME OUT FROM THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE AREA AND THE CAR SWUNG TO THE RIGHT HITTING A POLE. AS WITNESSED, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING NO MORE THAN 25 MPH. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT AND THE ENTIRE FRONT RIGHT SUSPENSION BEAT THE CAR TO THE SCENE OF THE CRASH. IT WAS LYING IN FRONT OF THE CAR. IF IT WERE ON THE VEHICLE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER IT DUE TO THE WAY THE POLE TOOK OUT THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR ALL THE WAY INTO THE PASSENGERS COMPARTMENT. THE POLICE REPORTED IT AS A MECHANICAL FAILURE.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IT WILL PULL TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THIS CAUSED THE TREAD TO WEAR OFF THE TIRES. THE DEALER REALIGNED THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. THEY DID NOT OFFER AN EXPLANATION WHY THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO IMPROVE, BUT WAS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. THE DEALER REFERRED HER TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT 2005 DODGE MAGNUM RT HAS BEEN STALLING AND PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE CONSUMER SAYS THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT 35-65 MPH. THE VEHICLE STALLED NINE TIMES. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIPS TOLD THE CONSUMER TO TAKE IT TO OTHER DEALERSHIPS. CHRYSLER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO GO TO GLOVE BOX AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO FILE FOR THE LEMON LAW. THE CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT HEAVILY. THE CONSUMER SAID THAT ARM WAS SORE FROM PULLING AT THE STEERING WHEEL AND TRYING TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER SAYS THAT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A THUMPING SOUND. THE ESP WARNING LIGHT IS COMING ON AND STAYING ON. THE LIGHT CAME ON FOUR TIMES. *AK
WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 MAGNUM RT, MAY 11, 2005. AS WE DROVE OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP THE SALESMAN PUNCHED THE TRIP METER AND A MILEAGE DIFFERENCE SHOWED UP BETWEEN THE PAPERWORK (25 MILES) AND THE ODOMETER (236 MILES). ON OUR TEST DRIVE WE DISCOVERED THAT THE HANDLE ON THE ADJUSTABLE STEERING WHEEL WAS BROKEN. DODGE ORDERED THE PART AND I RETURNED TWO DAYS LATER TO PICK IT UP. IT WAS NOT IN, BUT HAD THE SALESMAN DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO A FEELING OF PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND A STEERING VIBRATION. HE FELT NOTHING. THE NEXT WEEK, I TOOK THE CAR IN TO SEE IF THE STEERING WHEEL PART WAS IN AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE WHOLE SHROUD HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY DID THAT AND THE STEERING WHEEL STILL DID NOT ADJUST. THE NEXT MONDAY THEY REPLACED THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN WHICH FIXED THE ADJUSTMENT. THEY ALSO...
I HAVE SEVERE OUTSIDE SHOULDER WEAR ON BOTH FRONT TIRES OF MY 2005 DODGE MAGNUM, VIN [XXX], MORE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE THAN THE PASSENGER. CHRYSLER HAS REPLACED THE TIRES ONCE, AND ALIGNED FOUR TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL COMES BACK WITHIN 600 MILES. WITHOUT ROTATING, MY TIRES WOULD ONLY LAST ABOUT 8000 MILES. THE CAR ALSO EXHIBITS ENOUGH STEERING WHEEL "FEEDBACK" ON ROAD SEEMS TO CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL TO ANYONE "NEW" TO DRIVING THIS CAR. THE CHRYSLER DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE HAS DRIVEN THIS CAR AND CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL. I DO NOT AGREE! HE ALSO CLAIMS THAT SEVERE VIBRATION AT VARIOUS HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND BRAKING CONDITIONS IS NORMAL. IN HEAVY HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, LIGHT BRAKING WILL MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STAY IN MY PROPER LANE. ONCE AGAIN, I CANNOT AGREE WITH CHRYSLER. THE FRONT END ALGINMENT OF MY DODGE MAGNUM HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.*AK
CAR HAS A PROBLEM WITH FRONT-END ALIGNMENT AND THERE IS SEVERE FRONT TIRE WEAR AT ONLY 6,000 MILES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY OTHER CAR OWNERS AND THEY HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. DEALER SAYS IT'S NORMAL AND MANUFACTURER IS NO HELP. *JB
