TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO TESTED THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 118,000.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM CARS PLUS IN LENOIR, NC IN MARCH 2010. STARTING ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE ALL POWER WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN IF YOU START AROUND A TURN OR HIT THE BRAKES. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME YOU TAKE A TURN OR HIT THE BRAKES. IN THE PAST THREE WEEKS IT HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER. YOU HAVE NO BRAKES AND NO POWER STEERING. THERE ARE NO WARNINGS THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER TWICE AND SOMEONE ELSE ONCE. NOTHING PULLS UP ON THE COMPUTER AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. DODGE HAS TOLD ME THIS IS MY PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ABOUT 800 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN THE 2005 DURANGOS ON THE COMPUTER, BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS OUT....
I HAVE ALREADY FILED THIS COMPLAINT BUT NEVER GOT ANY RESOLUTION AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. THE ENGINE STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS. MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO KEEPS "SHUTTING OFF" WHILE I'M DRIVING. I AM USUALLY TURNING AND GOING LESS THAN 20 MPH WHEN IT SHUTS OFF. MY RADIO STAYS WHEN THIS OCCURS. FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN AS MANY MONTHS, MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS COMPLETELY LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THIS PAST FEBRUARY, I HAD THE DEALER PUT IN NEARLY $2000 WORTH OF WORK IN ADDITION TO FIXING THE RECALLED ISSUES OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND FUEL TANK. THE POWER LOSS HAPPENED AFTER THIS AND AFTER HAVING TAKEN IT BACK ONCE TO THE DEALER I WILL NOT TAKE IT TO THEM AGAIN DUE TO POOR SERVICE. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY LOCAL MECHANIC RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE CAR, BUT NOTHING COMES UP. THIS PAST SATURDAY, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. I WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AS WELL AS DROVE IT, AND NOTHING AT ALL SHOWED UP. I AM VERY FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF ITS SUDDEN STALLS. WHENEVER I AM STOPPED OR IDLING, MY CAR WILL SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. THE RPM GAUGE WILL JUMP UP AND DOWN AND THE ENGINE WILL REV BY ITSELF, WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL FLICKER, THEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF. THE INTERIOR ELECTRICAL IS OFF BUT THE RUNNING/OUTSIDE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. THE STEERING TIGHTENS UP,BUT THE BRAKES WORK. THREE HOURS LATER, THE CONTACT TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

DRIVING 60MPH ON FREEWAY 331 ENGINE STALLED ON LANE MERGER CAUSES SEVERAL CARS TO SEVERELY BREAK AND THE DURANGO TO RUN OFF THE ROAD IN A DITCH. THE RESULT WAS TOWING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. AFTER VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP WE DROVE THE VEHICLE 100MILES AT WHICH TIME IT STALLED AGAIN CAUSING ANOTHER NEAR FATAL WRECK WITH MY WIFE AND 3 SMALL CHILDREN PRESENT. THIS ISSUE IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH DDC HOWEVER WE WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY STALLING ISSUES. I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL WIRES. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, SEVERAL SPARK PLUGS, AND COIL WIRES. AS OF JANUARY 30, 2009, ALL OF THE REMEDIES HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 15 MPH. RECENTLY, I MADE A LEGAL U-TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED HALFWAY INTO THE TURN. IT IS TRULY A MIRACLE THAT I WAS NOT HIT BY A VEHICLE HEAD ON WHERE CARS WERE COMING AT ME AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IF IT HASN'T HAPPEN ALREADY. HE SAID THE ETS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE REPLACED IT FOR $344.16 HOWEVER, THOUGH HE KEPT IT AND DROVE IT, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO HIM AND HE SAID IT WOULD BE HARD TO BE 100% SURE IT THAT WAS REALLY THE ISSUE. IT WAS HIS BEST ANSWER.
