#1-3 INCIDENTS OF FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS LOCKING UP CAUSING SIGNIFICANT STEERING AND CONTROL PROBLEMS, REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT HUB BEARINGS AS A RESULT AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE; #2-LEFT UPPER BALL JOINT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT TO MAINTAIN SAFETY OF VEHICLE (RIGHT SIDE BEGINNING TO MAKE THE SAME SOUND); #3-MULTIPLE INCIDENTS (AT LEAST 5) OF CEL COMING ON WITHIN LAST 9 MONTHS-THE LAST (8/20/04) INDICATES THAT THE FUEL PUMP, GAS TANK, AND OTHER COMPONENTS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AS THE GAS TANK BECOMES CONCAVE AFTER THE VEHICLE RUNS FOR 15-30 MINUTES LEADING TO A POSSIBLE EXPLOSION. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL FELL OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE OWNER THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINT HAD FAILED. THE CONSUMER WILL HAVE THE MECHANIC FIX THE UPPER BALL JOINT. *JB *SC *JB
PE 03 032/ FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BALL JOINT FAILURE: WHILE DRIVING 20-25 MPH THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE BROKE. THE CONDITION CAUSED A VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE STRUCK A SPEED SIGN AND A TELEPHONE POLE. THE CONSUMER WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR A CONCUSSION AND MINOR BRUISES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SEND OUT AN INVESTIGATOR CONCERNING THESE ISSUES. *JB *SC *JB
MY 2001 DURANGO HAS HAD THE ROTORS GO BAD AND THE BALL JOINTS (BOTH OF WHICH COST ME MONEY). THE VEHICLE HAS 55000 MILES ON IT AND IS DRIVEN 95% OF THE TIME ON THE INTERSTATE SYSTEM. ALTHOUGH I LIKE THE VEHICLE, I THINK THE MFT SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. I ALSO, THINK IT IS TIME FOR A RECALL. I AM HARD PRESSED TO BUY ANOTHER DODGE ( I OWN TWO) KNOWING THAT THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT MY SAFETY!*AK
LOUD SQUEAKING UNDER THE FRONT END, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME VERY UNSTABLE AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD ACTUALLY BOUNCE IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS AFTER HITTING A LARGE BUMP. TURNING THE WHEEL THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE IN THE WHEEL AND STEERING WHEEL. AT 41,000 MILES, BOTH OF THE FRONT UPPER BALL JOINTS HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR "EXCESSIVE WEAR". THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MOST BALL JOINTS DON'T LOOK THIS BAD UNTIL YOU'VE HIT WELL OVER 100K. WE DO NOT GO 4-WHEELING IN OUR DURANGO, WE DO NOT DRIVE RECKLESSLY. THIS VEHICLE IS OWNED BY AN AMPUTEE WHO USUALLY ONLY DRIVES IT ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS COST US OVER $1,000 TO FIX, AS CHRYSLER WOULD NOT HELP. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND CHRYSLER HAS NOT ISSUED A TSB OR RECALL ON IT BECAUSE SUPPOSEDLY NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED. *AK
THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WORE PREMATURELY. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE'S WHEEL WOULD SEPARATE WHILE DRIVING. *NM *SC *JB
THE VEHICLE FAILED PENNSYLVANIA STATE INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S UPPER BALL JOINTS NEEDE DTO BE REPALCED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. TURNED STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND THE FRONT END DROPPED. THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE CAME AWAY FROM THE CONTROL ARM AT THE UPPER BALL JOINT. *AK
A SQUEAKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN TURNING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE A BUMPY FREEWAY VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT WHEN IT WENT OVER A BUMP. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO INDICATED THAT THE FRONT UPPER BALL JOINTS HAD PREMATURELY WORN OUT WHICH CAUSED THE FRONT TIRES TO WEAR. *AK
I HAD TO REPLACE THE UPPER BALL JOINT IN MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE UPPER BALL JOINTS IN 2000-02 MODELS. I NOTICED A NOISE WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES OR A ROUGH SPOT IN THE ROAD. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND HAD TO PAY $272.00 TO HAVE THESE REPLACED. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE VIBRATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC INFORMED DETERMINED THAT THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
MY BALL JOINTS AND RIGHT CONTOL ARM HAVE GONE OUT AGAIN. ON 12-6-02 I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED MY IGNITION SWITCH AND RIGHT CONTROL ARM AND HUB BEARINGS. NO I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO HELP ME WITH MY PROBLEM. I JUST DRIVE IN THE CITY. MY RO # IS 262789. IT WAS A DONE AT VALENCIA DODGE.*AK
AS I WAS GOING DOWN A COUNRY ROAD, FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON I LOST CONTROL OF MY DURANGO, WENT OFF THE ROAD AND RAN INTO A DIRT/ROCK EMBANKMENT. WHEN PULLING MY DURANGO BACK UP ON THE ROAD, FOUND MY TIRE WAS FLAT AND THE RIM HAD SPLIT IN HALF. IN HALF LIKE IF YOU WERE HOLDING IT UP ON IT'S EDGE (NOT LYING IT DOWN) AND CUT IT IN HALF. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY HAD A REPRESENTITIVE COME OUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO!!! I'VE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE AND MECHANICS AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT. IT'S AS ALMOST AS IT WAS WELDED WRONG. THE CRYSLER CORP. WOULD NOT HELP ME IN ANY WAY. I HAD TO TURN IT INTO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I STILL BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY DURANGO. WHETHER IT...
VEHICLE MAKES HORRIBLE NOISES WHEN MAKING TURNS, OR GOING OVER UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES. FEELS AND SOUNDS. AS IF FRONT END IS GOING TO FALL OFF VEHICLE SKIPS LANES SLIGHTLY WHEN HITTING ANY KIND OF BUMP. VEHICLE HAS GONE TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEMS, WHICH ENDS UP WITH THE SEALER GREASING UP THE SUSPENSION AND FINDING NOTHING WRONG. I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR KNOWING THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT THE WHEEL MAY FALL OFF. *AK
I HAVE A 2001 DODGE DURANGO. ON SUNDAY APRIL 4,2004 I HIT A SMALL POTHOLE ON THE ROAD AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. IT FELT LIKE THE FRONT END WAS GOING TO FALL OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DODGE DEALER HERE IN PROVO UTAH. THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THEY WERE WORN AND WERE IN BAD SHAPE.I HAVE 48000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS CRASH. I WON'T SAY ACCIDENT FOR BOTH CHRYLER AND THE GOVERNMENT KNOW OF THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. GET OFF YOUR ASS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!*AK

I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A CLAIM REGARDING MY 2001 DODGE DURANGO 4X4. I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ON MY DURANGO. BOTH THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE SO WORN OUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO DOWN THE HIGHWAY STRAIGHT. THE BALL JOINTS WERE BOTH LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE SINCE HAD THEM REPLACED. THE TRUCK HAD ONLY 59,000 MILES ON IT. I FEEL THIS IS PREMATURE WEAR AND IS A FAULTY DESIGN. I HAVE SEEN THE INVESTIGATION ON TV AND FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM. IT HAS AFFECTED ALOT OF VEHICLES FROM 1998-2003, WHY HAS NO ONE FORCED A RECALL YET? THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE, IF THE FRONT WHEELS FLY OFF, OR YOU CANT KEEP THE VEHICLE GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND DODGE SHOULD BE FORCED TO CORRECT IT IMMEDIATLY.*AK
THE CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BALL JOINTS. THE OWNER HAS ALREADY REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS ONCE AND NOW THEY NEED REPLACING AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAD LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB

ON JANUARY 2, 2004 AN INDEPENDENT SHOP REPLACED THE UPPER BALL JOINTS AT THE CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE WHEEL WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF. *SC *JB
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT END OF THE MAKES A NOISE. CONSUMER STATES THAT FRONT WHEEL HAS PLAY IN IT. CAN PUSH THE WHEEL IN ABOUT THREE INCHES AND OUTWARD THREE INCHES. DRIVER BELIEVES ITIS RELATED TO THE BALL JOINTS. *AK *NM
FRONT END SHOOK AND PULLED TO THE RIGHT WHEN BRAKING. THIS WAS DUE TO THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINT BEING WORN OUT. THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, PER THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
CONSUMER HAD A TIRE BLOWOUT. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE THE TIRE REPAIRED. MECHANIC REPAIRED THE TIRE, AND DETERMINED THAT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ON BOTH SIDES NEEDED REPLACEMENT. *AK
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE BALL JOINTS BROKE, MAKING IT HARD TO STEER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY $1100.00 FOR REPAIRS. *AK THE FRONT WHEEL(S) HAD COME UNATTACHED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN. *SC *JB
AT 32120 MILES DEALERSHIP REPLACED ALL FOUR BALL JOINTS, 10 MONTHS LATER, MECHANIC DETERMINED THE NEED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR BALL JOINTS AGAIN. *AK
RT FRT UPPER BALL JOINT FAILED @ 29,357 MILES ON 12/13/03. AS OF THIS DATE-3/4/04 LEFT FRT UPPER BALL JOINT IS FAILING & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *JB

OWNER OF A 2001 DURANGO SLT & 2004 DURANGO LTD. THE 2001 DURANGO HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE BALL JOINTS AT ABOUT 40K MILES WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT IN ORDER TO PASS SAFETY INSPECTION. (FRONT WHEELS WERE LOOSE). THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT PARTS OR LABOR.

LUCKILY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY IT WAS NOT A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHEN WE WERE DRIVING THE VECHILE!! IT WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME IT WAS HAPPENING ALOT TO OTHER OWNERS AND THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.WHAT, DO SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE NEED TO DIE FIRST BEFORE ANYONE RECOGNIZES AND FIXES THIS PROBLEM!!?? THIS VECHILE ONLY HAS LESS THAN 47,000 MILES IT AT THE TIME OF REPAIR AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM!!*AK
