The contact leased a 2012 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with melted wiring. Additionally, the contact noticed smoke coming from underneath the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later towed to the residence. Additionally, the contact was aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V018000 (Air Bags) and 17V435000 (Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The dealer was contacted for the recall repair, but no assistance was provided. The used car dealer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
My car has come to a complete halt several times when I pressed the gas trying to get onto the speedway it will just have no power to it like it’s in neutral and I will have to hurry up and get over to the side and turn it back into park and then back into drive and pray that it goes. It doesn’t kick into gear like it should all the time my battery is always a hit or miss. I just spent $1000 on repairs and my power won’t even work. It’s an electric. and pray that it goes. 2012 Challenger SRT8 TIPM is this issue and there is no recall for this, while it should due to being a major part of the electrical system that controls all aspects of the safety system. Also now I am being told Dodge does NOT make this part any longer....how is that possible. This IS a recall for other Dodge models, why not mine
Window keeps going up and down fixed it at the shop the door lock actuator is the problem had passenger side fixed now the driver side is doing it which is draining my battery seems like a lot of cars have this issue
THIS WOULD BE THE 3 OR 4 TIME WITH THIS ISSUE AND I HADE TO REPLACE PART AND FIX IT. DRIVER SIDE SMART WINDOW STOPS WORKING IT WON'T GO DOWN WHEN OPENING DOOR CAUSING YOU TO FORCE DOOR OPEN AND NOW DOOR CAN NOT CLOSE CORRECTLY
THE WINDOW SENSORS GO OUT AND ALL OF THE CONTROLS AT THE STEERING WHEEL. WINDOWS STOP ROLLING UP ON THEIR OWN SO CLOSE THE DOOR AND LEAVES 1/4INCH GAP. SOMETIMES STAYS ALL THE WAY UP SO WINDOW HITS DOOR JAM. DOES THIS ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. ALSO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONTROL WON'T WORK, TURN SIGNALS WON'T WORK. CHECKED ALL FUSES AND TRIED HARD RESET SND THAT DIDN'T WORK. SOMETIMES THEY WILL START WORKING AGAIN AND THEN JUST STOP AGAIN. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY TIME SHE TURNED OFF HER VEHICLE SHE HAD TO UNPLUG HER BATTERY BECAUSE THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE SMART SWITCH IN HER WINDOWS. THE WINDOWS DID NOT COMPLETELY CLOSE AND AS A RESULT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OVERHEATED THE VEHICLE AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER FREEDOM CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM BY ED MORSE 815 E CAMP WISDOM RD, DUNCANVILLE, TX 75116 888) 331-8981 AND THEY SAID TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THEY ALSO SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS . THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WITH CONTACT HAVING TO BUY NEW BATTERIES TO BE ABLE TO START HER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THE CONTACT A CASE NUMBER AND REFERRED HER TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
LATCH /MOTOR FOR WINDOW GOING UP AND DOWN BY ITSELF DRIVER SIDE HAD TO BE REPLACED VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE OWNERS I JUST PAID 563 DOLLARS FOR DEALER TO REPLACE LATCH SO IT WON'T DRAIN MY BATTERY AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF. A SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED IN THE CAR, CAUSING THE DRIVER'S WINDOW TO LOWER AND RAISE 1/4" EVERY 30 SECONDS OR SO. THIS DRAINED THE BATTERY AND LEFT US STRANDED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS THE SMART GLASS SWITCH THAT FAILED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES AND DODGE ISSUED A RECALL FOR ONLY 2011 MODEL YEARS LEAVING THE REST OF US IN JEOPARDY OF BEING STRANDED AND TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR A FIX AND POSSIBLE ANOTHER COUPLE HUNDRED FOR A NEW BATTERY.
THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW GOES UP AND DOWN ABOUT A 1/4 OF AN INCH ON IT'S OWN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND NO ONE IS IN THE VEHICLE. THIS DRAINED THE BATTERY COMPLETELY AND I NEEDED TO BE JUMPED TO GET IT TO THE MECHANIC. I SAW ON LINE WHERE THIS WAS A RECALL FOR 2010 ,2011 AND SOME 2012 MODELS. THIS HAPPENED ON APRIL 7TH. *TR
PASSENGER WINDOW WILL GO DOWN ABOUT 1/4 OF AN INCH EVERY 10 SECONDS WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND VEHICLE IS UNLOCKED. THIS CAUSED BATTERY TO DRAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2012 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO EMIT SMOKE OUT OF THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER WITH A DIME LODGED IN THE HOLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER SAFELY TO ATTEMPT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN FLAMES, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO POUR SODA ON THE FLAMES ALONG WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO NO AVAIL. HOWEVER THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS HOME THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR LOCAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS INCIDENT. ALSO, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND NEEDED TO BE JUMPSTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. I INITIALLY GOT MY ALTERNATOR CHANGED BY MY OWN MECHANIC BEFORE THERE WAS ANY RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR. THEN SOME TIME LAST YEAR 2018 I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL ON THE AIR BAGS. WHILE MY CAR WAS AT DODGE THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT THE RECALL ON MY ALTERNATOR STILL HADN'T BEEN CLEARED SINCE I NEVER CHANGED IT WITH DODGE SO I WAS LIKE WHAT THE HECK WHY NOT JUST GET A BRAND NEW ONE THROUGH DODGE THIS TIME WHILE THEY'RE REPAIRING WHATEVER NEEDED TO BE DONE WITH MY AIR BAGS. FAST FORWARD TO JULY OF 2019 I TOOK MY CAR IN TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR SOME SHAKING WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK AND FOR THE GEARS NOT PROPERLY SHIFTING. MY RPMS WERE GOING WAY TOO HIGH BEFORE THE NEXT GEAR WOULD SHIFT. SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP CLAIMED TO FIX THE ISSUE BUT I WAS BACK A...
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN UPON OPENING DOOR CAUSING WINDOW TO BE ON THE OUTSIDE OF WEATHER STRIPPING WHEN CLOSING DOOR. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHEN OPENING DRIVERS SIDE DOOR.

SUBJECT: DOOR SMART GLASS SELF CYCLING AND/OR BATTERY DRAIN THE DOOR SMART GLASS FEATURE CYCLES ON ITS OWN WHICH LEADS TO BATTERY DRAIN. THE CONDITION TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE IGNITION KEY IS OFF. THIS CONDITION IS IDENTICAL TO THE EXACT SYMPTOMS IDENTIFIED ON THE 2011 MODEL. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED ON CHRYSLER'S SERVICE BULLETIN CSN-M24 SMART GLASS SWITCH. THE SMART GLASS SWITCH ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ON THE 2012 MODEL ASAP..!
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW GOING UP/DOWN 1/4 INCH, WHEN CAR IS PARKED AND OFF, DRAINING BATTERY
BATTERY WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT WENT DEAD. LOST POWER STEERING. WINDOWS GOING UP AND DOWN ON THEIR OWN RUNNING DOWN NEW BATTERY. FOUND FUSE THAT RUNS SIDE MIRRORS AND POWER STEERING TO BE GOOD BUT IS SHOWING THE FUSE BOX TO BE GROUNDING OUT WHEN FUSE IS REMOVED. I HAVE HEARD OF ALOT OF ISSUES WITH THE WINDOWS ON THIS CAR. NOBODY CAN SEEM TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS SITTING STILL AND ENGINE NOT TURNED ON. IF I LEAVE WINDOWS OPEN, WEATHER DAMAGE IS DONE. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITHOUT POWER STEERING. AFRAID IT MIGHT CATCH ON FIRE DUE TO THE GROUNDING OUT. THERE ARE NO RECALLS REFERRING TO THIS ISSUE. WHY AND WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT GETTING THIS RESOLVED WHEN MECHANICS CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM?

FUSE CONTINUES TO BLOW FOR BRAKE LIGHTS. WHENEVER THE FUSE IS REPLACED AND INSERTED, THE FUSE IS THEN BLOWN.
WHILE PARKED AND TURNED OFF WINDOW REPEATEDLY LOWERS AND RAISES ITSELF AS IF YOU WERE OPENING THE DOOR, DRAINING THE BATTERY AND RESULTING CAR NOT STARTING. REPLACING BATTERY DOES NOT FIX. PROBLEM HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING.
MY DASHBOARD IS FLICKERING. MY SPEEDOMETER SOMETIMES DROPS TO ZERO AND THEN BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SPEED. MY HEADLIGHTS ALSO FLICKER. WHEN I'M BEHIND ANOTHER CAR AT NIGHT, I SEE THEM MOVING AS IF I HAVE SPEAKERS IN THE TRUCK.
SHORTLY AFTER 70K MILES ON THE CAR I STARTED EXPERIENCING DRIVER SIDE SMART WINDOW MALFUNCTION, GOING UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. IT HAS NOW STARTED DOING IT WITH POWER OFF AND NO FOB AROUND DRAINING MY BATTERY.

THE "SMARTGLASS" FEATURE, DROPPING DOWN ABOUT A HALF CENTIMETER AND RESETTING ITSELF EVERY TWELVE SECONDS WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF CAUSING IT TO DRAIN THE BATTERY. WE CHARGE THE BATTERY AND IT STARTS BUT WHEN YOU STOP FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME IT DRAINS THE BATTERY AND THEN WE ARE STRANDED!!!!! THIS IS NOT OK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE YOU CAN RESEARCH MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED IT. THERE WAS RECALL FOR 2011 FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY MADE IT AGAIN IN THE 2012?!?!? AND NO RECALL FOR 2012? THIS IS NOT AN ERROR OF MINE AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR IT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREWAY AND MY CHALLENGER LOST POWER AND SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 15 MILES BACK TO MY APARTMENT AND NOW ITS JUST SITTING I CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND LOW AND BEHOLD THERE IS A RECALL FOR AN ALTERNATOR AND DIODS RECALL NUMBER T-36 SO I CALLED TO DODGE DEALERS AND ONCE AGAIN THEY ARE GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND STEVENS CREEK DODGE SAID A MONTH AND A HALF REDICULOUSE AND FREMONT DODGE GIVES TWO MONTHS UNTIL THEY CAN REPLACE IT DODGE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY ONLY GET A FEW PARTS TO WORK WITH I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT I RECENTLY GOT MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DONE AND THEY BROKE THE PART IM NOT EVEN SURE IF IT IS ACTUALLY WORKING HUGE SAFETY HAZARD I NEED MY VEHICLE REPAIRED ASAP SOMEONE NEEDS TO CONTACT ME...

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE CHALLENGER. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE FRONT DRIVER'S WINDOW INDEPENDENTLY ROLLED UP AND DOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROCKIE WILLIAMS' PREMIER DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (600 PLEASANT GROVE RD, MT JULIET, TN 37122, (615) 288-8525) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
WHILE PARKED AND THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF, I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULD GO UP AND DOWN OVER AND OVER AND LATER ON KILL THE BATTERY. THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLAINT AND ISSUE FOR SEVERAL DODGE CHALLENGERS EVEN FROM 2011. SOME INDIVIDUALS HAVE TO LEAVE THEIR WINDOW DOWN JUST TO AVOID THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ THAT IT IS SMART WINDOW MOTOR ISSUE WITH THE WIRING. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND ENCOURAGES THEFT AND ISSUES WITH STARTING UP MY VEHICLE.
DOOR LATCH DEFECT CAUSES WINDOWS TO CONTINUALLY ROLL UP AND DOWN AFTER CAR IS SHUT OFF THUS CAUSING BATTERY TO DIE OVERNIGHT. THIS IS NOT ALLEVIATED BY LEAVING WINDOW SLIGHTLY ROLLED DOWN OVERNIGHT. APPARENTLY 2011 CHALLENGERS HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT NOT 2012.
THE CAR'S SMART GLASS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BEGAN TO OPEN/CLOSE BY ITSELF EVERY FEW SECONDS. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 1 WEEK LATER AS WE WERE GOING ON VACATION. THE CAR WAS STORED IN THE GARAGE AND THE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN SLIGHTLY WHILE WE WERE GONE TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DYING. WE CAME HOME AND THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IN A FEW HOURS, THE BATTERY DIED AGAIN AND WE HAD TO REPLACE A $200 5 MONTH OLD BATTERY BEFORE THEY COULD EVEN DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS CSN M24 THAT WAS RELEASED IN OCTOBER 2012, YET THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ISSUE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A TSB ON 2011 AND NOTHING ON 2012 MODELS. THIS PART IS FAULTY AND HAS BEEN NOTED BY MANY OWNERS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO...
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER CONTROL MODULE - CAR WOULD RANDOMLY NOT START OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS WHILE BEING IN ON OFF POSITION. THE CAR WOULD BE TURNED OFF AND I WOULD GET IN TO START IT, THE CAR CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START. IT JUST GETS STUCK. I WOULD HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT, KEEP TRYING TO START THE CAR WITH THE FOB AND WITH THE KEY INSERTED UNTIL IT FINALLY STARTS AGAIN. NO PATTERN OR ANYTHING, CAR JUST LEAVES ME STARANDED AFTER TWO YEARS OF NOT HAVING A RELIABLE CAR, I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE IT FOR $1000.00 - I ONLY HAVE 38K MILES AND HAVE TO REPLACE THIS IN MY CAR. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR BAD QUALITY.
THE SMART GLASS SWITCH ISSUE THAT WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE 2011 YEAR IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS OCCURRING IN THE 2012 YEAR AS WELL. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY.
FIRE: ON DECEMBER 27, 2017 MY CAR WAS IDLING OUTSIDE MY SISTERS HOUSE WHEN SMOKE BEGAN COMING FROM THE TRUNK, WE RAN AND GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND FOUND THE BATTERY AND WIRING HARNESS BURNT. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HENDRICKS HOVER DODGE TO GET IT REPAIRED. FIRST THEY COULDN'T FIND MY CAR FOR A BOUT A WEEK, THEN THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE DON'T THIS FRIDAY AND SINCE THEN I HAVE RECEIVER 2 SALES CALLS TRYING TO GET ME TO TRADE IN MY 2012 DODGE. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN AND WHY HAS IT BEEN AT HENDRICKS SINCE JANUARY 22 AND STILL NOT FIXED.
HAVING ISSUES WITH "HEAT STAKES" IN WINDOWS CAUSING THE SMART GLASS SWITCH TO ACTIVATE WHILE VEHICLE IS OFF AND DRAINING THE BATTERY CAUSING FOR A JUMP EVERY MORNING. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2011 CHALLENGER (M24) FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE CHALLENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF MCKINNEY (700 S CENTRAL EXPY, MCKINNEY, TX 75070) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE ENGINE TO BE TAKEN APART. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE RECALL PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THAT SOMEONE WOULD RETURN HIS CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND LOST POWER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. IN ADDITION, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CUTTER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF PEARL CITY (905 KAMEHAMEHA HWY, PEARL CITY, HI 96782 (808) 564-9640) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE/PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION AUGUST OF 2017. THE DEALER (GREENBRIER MOTOR COMPANY, 9841 SENECA TRAIL, LEWISBURG,WV, 24901) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
REFERENCE: T36 RECALL INCIDENT: ON 22 AUGUST 2017 MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN DURING OPERATION, THE AC BEGAN PUSHING WARM AIR, AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE FAILURE. THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING, AND I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO BRING MY VEHICLE TO MY RESIDENT DEALER (OURISMAN DODGE OF ALXANDRIA, VA). THE DEALER REQUESTED $1100 FOR REPAIRS, AND I TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONDUCT RESEARCH, WHERE I LEARNED OF THE PENDING T36 RECALL, AND OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. CUSTOMER SERVICE 1: I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 23 AUGUST, AND INFORMED THEM OF THE PENDING T36 RECALL. THEY DESCRIBED THAT THEY HAD NO AWARENESS OF SUCH A RECALL. I CALLED AGAIN ON 24 AUGUST AT 1:00 AM EST WHEN I REALIZED MY VIN NOW REFLECTED THE T36 RECALL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD INCUR NO COSTS, AND PROVIDED ME WITH A REFERENCE NUMBER IS CASE THERE WERE...
ALTERNATOR ABRUPTLY SHORTED OUT. HAD NO POWER STEERING, INSTRUMENTS, ENGINE DIED. THE CARE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. THE BATTERY WAS TOTAL DISCHARGED. THE ALTERNATOR WAS VERY HOT, BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL, WITH DISCOLORATION.
AT 29000 MILES NOTICED BY WINDOWS GOING UP AND DOWN WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. AFTER TWO WEEKS IN THE REPAIR SHOP MY HANDLES WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, LESS THAN TWO MONTHS IT IS AGAIN IN SHOP FOR SAME ISSUE.
VEHICLE MILEAGE: APPROX 36,000.00 V8 5.7L DODGE CHALLENGER 2012 I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE YESTERDAY AND AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES PART HIGHWAY DRIVING AND PART CITY STREET DRIVES, DURING MOTION ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND CENTER NAVIGATION SCREEN STARTED TO FLASH. MY POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO GET INTO A DRIVEWAY FROM THE CITY STREETS. WHEN I POPPED THE HOOD IT WAS WARM AND HAD A SMOKY SMELL. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TODAY THAT WITH ONLY 36,000 MILES MY ALTERNATOR IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, OTHER DAMAGE IS STILL BEING ACCESSED. I AM NOW PAYING OVER $1,000.00 TO GET THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED.
