I WAS TOLD THE NHTSA WAS FOR VEHICLES DELIVERED ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES. WHAT DOES THE STATE HAVE TO DO WITH A FAULTY ADHESION PROBLEM? IT I DIDN'T HEAR ALL THE AIR COMING IN AND SEE IT IN MY MIRROR IT COULD FLOWN OUT OF THE CAR INTO ANOTHER CAR IF I DIDN'T QUICKLY SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER. VERY DANGEROUS AND NOW I HAVE A MAHER BILL TO HAVE IT FIXED. FROM DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT ALL 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME THING AN MORE OF THEM EVERYDAY. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR. THE CUP HOLDER IS STUCK IN THE VERTICAL POSITION RIGHT WHERE MY ELBOW GOES WHEN CONTROLLING THE SHIFTER THUS MAKING IT DIFFICULT AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS TO DO SO. I WENT ON THE INTERNET TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM CROSSFIRE OWNERS OF ALL YEARS ABOUT THIS VERY THING. CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT INCLUDING JUST DISCONNECTING THE SPRING ON THE CUP HOLDER SO THAT IT WILL STAY DOWN. THE FIX IS OVER $300 IF YOU GET CHRYSLER TO DO IT, AND THEY INSTALL THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART AGAIN. NOT A GOOD FIX. I THINK IT IS DANGEROUS, VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFECT WAS THE ADHESIVE THAT HELD THE REAR GLASS TO THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE TOP WAS CONSTRUCTED OF EXCELLENT QUALITY GERMAN CANVASS. THE GLASS DETACHED AND WAS TETHERED TO THE TOP SOLELY BY THE WIRE CONNECTING THE REAR GLASS DEFROSTER, AND THERE WAS NOTHING HOLDING THE GLASS TO THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/31/13

CONDITION CONTINUES AND IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR BOTH PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS BEHIND CAR. IF GLASS BREAKS LOOSE IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY HARM. CHRYSLER IS VERY WELL AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND HAS PAID TO REPAIR THE VEHICLES ON A SPORADIC BASIS. THEIR LAST COMMENTS TO ME WAS DUE TO MY VEHICLE BEING FIRST DELIVERED IN CALIFORNIA, IT WAS EXEMPT FROM THE RECALL FOR EIGHT SOUTHERN STATES. THIS IS QUITE PERPLEXING AS THE VEHICLES ARE IDENTICAL, WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. ONLY IN DIFFERENT STATES. I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT THEY REPLACED THE TOP ON A VEHICLE IN CHICAGO. IT IS A GLASS WINDOW, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, IT NEEDS BETTER SUPPORT.
