THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CENTRAL AVENUE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT 1839 CENTRAL PARK AVE, YONKERS, NY 10710; (914) 961-5400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIG BAG WIRE NEEDED TO BE CONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN, THE CARS WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP AND ALARMS STARTED BEEPING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE FCW OFF MESSAGE, I SMELLED SMOKE AND HEARD A WHIRING SOUND. AFTER PULLING IN MY DRIVEWAY, I POPPED OPEN THE HOOD AND FOUND NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. 20 MINUTES LATER I STARTED UP THE CAR AND STARTED DRIVING, AGAIN WITHOUT ANY ISSUE.
