I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO SHIFT CAR OUT OF "PARK" AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF THESE COMPLAINTS. THERE IS A RECALL OUT, BUT MY MODEL YEAR AND VIN DO NOT MEET THE RECALL CRITERIA. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON FOR THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND FILED A CASE FOR THE CONTACT (CASE NUMBER 22496760). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

I BOUGHT A NEW VEHICLE FOR DEPENDABLE TRANSPORTATION. I RECENTLY PAID IT OFF SO I COULD BE OUT OF CAR DEBT. COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF I WAS BY TIRE LOCATION OR UNDER VEHICLE. THE CAR ALSO HAS A SHIFTER COLUMN THAT WILL LOCK IN PARK AND WILL NOT CHANGE TO ANY OTHER GEAR, LOCKS SHIFTER LEAVING YOU STRANDED. MY 2007 CHRYSLER 300 BASE MODEL HAS A DEFECT WHERE I GET STUCK IN PARK AND CANNOT GET OUT OF THIS POSITION ON MY SHIFT PANEL. I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT ITS A SMALL CHEAP PLASTIC PART THAT BROKEN OFF AND DISENGAGED MY SHIFT CONTROLS. I OWN A 2007 CHRYSLER 300 TOURING WITH ONLY 44,000 MILES ON IT. MY GEAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THERE IS AN OVERRIDE SWITCH ("PINK" ) THAT DID NOT WORK AS WELL. I GOT ONLINE TO CHECK TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON THIS MATTER AND THERE WAS NOT; HOWEVER, WHEN I CHECKED ONLINE, I NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND BLOGS ABOUT THESE CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FROM 2005 TO CURRENT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL MATTER. TODAY, MONDAY, JULY 6, 2009 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ENTIRE GIFT SHIFT ASSEMBLY WAS BUSTED. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A CRAPPY DESIGN AND CHRYSLER HAS SINCE MADE A LITTLE BETTER DESIGN SHIFT GEAR THAN THE ONE THAT IS IN MY VEHICLE NOW.
