OIL CONSUMPTION - AFTER ADVISING TERRY LABONTE CHEVROLET (GREENSBORO, NC) OF OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES FROM 60K THRU 99K AND FORMER DIAGNOSTICS COMPLETED BY COLLINS CHEVROLET (MT. AIRY, NC) @ 55K 59K & 60K GM IS UNWILLING TO MAKE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AT 121K STATING THAT NO NOTES WERE RECORDED OF INCIDENTS UPON PRIOR NOTIFICATION. DEALERSHIP STATED REPAIR REQUIRE PISTON REBUILD FOR $5100 GM REP APPROVED REPAIR FOR $1365. GM CUST CARE UNWILLING TO COVER REPAIR AND HAS DISREGARDED PRIOR DOCUMENTATION OF COMPLAINT AT 55K, 59K, & 60K. I PURCHASED MY SUBURBAN WITH EXISTING GM WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD ROUGHLY 47,000 MILES ON IT AND 7 MONTHS REMAINING OF THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. AFTER ABOUT 900 MILES THE LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD BECAUSE I CHECKED THE OIL LIFE GAUGE AFTER PURCHASE AND IT SAID IT WAS AT 99% OIL LIFE. THIS WORRIED ME. IT WAS ONE QUART LOW SO I ADDED IT AND DECIDED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. A MONTH LATER AT ABOUT 1000 MILES THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I ADDED ANOTHER QUART AND THEN WENT TO THE DEALER CLOSEST TO MY HOME TO REPORT THE ISSUE. THEY STARTED MONITORING. EACH TIME AT BETWEEN 900 AND 1400 THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS A QUART LOW. THEY BEGAN REMEDIATION. FIRST THE PVC/VALVE COVER REMEDIATION. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN NEXT THE OIL PAN RELATED REMEDIATION. THIS DID NOT...

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONSUME UP TO THREE QUARTS OF OIL EVERY THREE THOUSAND MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAS NOT SUFFERED ANY DAMAGES DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE OIL PROBLEM WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR POSSIBLY WOULD NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK AND THE EVAPORATION VENT AND FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN BURNING OIL AND THE CONTACT HAD TO REFILL THE OIL EVERY TEN DAYS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
