THE POWER STEERING FAILED IN 2015 WITH 65,900 MILES AND WAS REPAIRED AT A CHEVROLET DEALER THE CAR NOW HAS 94,000 MILES ON IT AND THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED AGAIN.ACCORDING TO GM THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ARE REPLACING DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH THE SAME. I CONTACTED GM CASE#9-4978065207 AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT THEY WOULD BE OF NO ASSISTANCE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING AND YOU HAVE TO STEER IT MANUALLY OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND NOT BE ABLE TO HIDE BEHIND SAYING THAT YOUR NUMBER VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM....
DRIVING DOWNTOWN DES MOINES MY MESSAGE CENTER STARTED DINGING, THE MESSAGE OUTPUT WAS: "POWER STEERING" THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN MOVING ON ITS OWN BACK & FORTH, JERKING AND GRINDING. AT ONE POINT JERKED OUT OF MY HAND. IT BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTINUE. I PULLED INTO A CONVIENCE STORE, BOUGHT POWER STEERING FLUID AND STARTED THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING SEEMED NORMAL. THE CAR WAS NOT LOW ON FLUIDS, I DIDN'T TRAVEL FAR BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. BY THE TIME I MADE IT HOME MY RIBS WERE HURTING FROM TRYING TO MANAUVER THE CAR HOME. THIS MALFUNCTION IS THE EPS SYSTEM AND RECALLS OF THE 2008 BEGAN IN 2014. MY VIN# WASN'T INCLUDED ON THE LIST. HOWEVER, MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. WHEN STARTING THE CAR, THE WORDS 'POWER STEERING' COMES ON THE MESSAGE BOARD ALONG WITH A YELL ILLUMINATED TRIANGLE LIGHT AND AN 'ESC' LIGHT AND THE CARS STEERING WILL NOT CONTROL. CAR WILL SHIFT BUT STEERING CANNOT BE CONTROLLED. WILL ALSO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. STEERING WILL LOCK UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED!

IN 2014 THERE WAS A RECALL ON CHEVY MALIBU, WE WERENT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS BUT TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP INSTEAD. WE ARE NOW EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. WHILE CAR IS STILL, AND ALSO IN MOTION THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE VERY BAD. WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP, AND JERK CAUSING YOU TO HAVE TO GRIP THE WHEEL EXTRA HARD TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. THE CLUNKING AND KNOCKING SOUND HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS (PARKING LOTS, DRIVEWAY AND CITY DRIVING) AND AT 70-75 M.P.H. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ALL WERE WORKING IN GOOD CONDITION BEFORE THE POWER STEERING...

THERE WAS A RECALL ON STEERING ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST IN WHICH MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT GM DEALERSHIP FOR IT. EVENTHOUGH, I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY TORQUE SENSOR. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED IN THE RECALL, SO NOW I HAVE TO COME OUT MY POCKET TO PAY FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE THE GM DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS ON MY 2008 MALIBU. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH THE PARTS BECAUSE IT SHOULD NOT BE FAILING THIS SOON. THANK YOU.

RESTARTED VEHICLE AGAIN, NO POWER STEERING, AND SAME SERVICE LIGHTS ON. ALSO, WHILE IN PARK, STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BACK AND FORTH. STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS REPLACED IN JAN.2016 DUE TO RECALL, WITH SAME SYMPTOMS. BOTH DEALER AND GM SAY THERE IS NO EXTENSION OR WARRANTY BECAUSE RECALLED PART WAS ALREADY REPAIRED. CAR IS NOW SITTING IN DRIVEWAY, NOT DRIVABLE.
