MY 2005 IMPALA SPEEDOMETER AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE ARE WORKING WHEN THEY WANT TO. I SET THE CRUISE CONTROLL AT 70 MPH AND CAR SEEMS TO DO FINE. I DONT USE THE CRUISE CONTROLL AND TRY TO HOLD THE CAR AT 70 MPH AND GOT A TICKET FOR DOING 82 IN A 65. AFTER GETTING THE TICKET ON 12 MARCH THE SPEEDOMETER AFTER EITHER 20 MINUTES OF SITTING OR DRIVING DOES NOT READ RIGHT SAYS BELOW ZERO, THEN I TURN CAR OFF AND ON TO TRY AND RESET THE GUAGES WORK ON AND OFF.

SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING OR SHOWS A LOWER SPEED THAN ACTUAL SPEED. THIS OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, SOMETIMES MORE OFTEN. SO FAR HAS NOT CAUSED AN CRASH, YET. *CN

THE SPEEDOMETER IS AT 35 MPH WHEN THE CAR IS AT A STANDSTILL. THE INDICATED SPEED IS INCORRECT WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING, SHOWING A FASTER SPEED THAN THE CAR IS MOVING. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY IMPALA, CURRENTLY WITH 22,320 MILES. AT MY OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION, (~20,500) I WAS INFORMED BY REPAIR PLACE THAT THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE TIRE ROTATION AS I WOULD BE NEEDING TO REPLACE THE TIRES SOON. I ASKED WHY THEY WERE WEARING SO FAST- I WAS TOLD, THEY NOTICED IT ON MANY IMPALAS- PREMATURE TIRE WEAR BETWEEN 18,000-25,000 MILES. ~ 15 MONTHS AGO, WITH ONLY ABOUT 13,000 MILES, WHEN I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE I WAS INFORMED ME THE ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL FROM THE REAR OF THE ENGINE, I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE (UNDER WARRANTY) SEVERAL SEALS/GASKETS- OIL PAN, DRAIN PLUG, OIL FILTER, PLUS REPLACE THE DRAIN PLUG. THE CAR IS SOMETIMES HARD TO START AND HAVE TO HOLD THE KEY IN THE START POSITION, AND/OR LIGHTLY PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO START...

SPEED SENSOR WENT BAD AT 45,000 MILES ON A 2005 IMPALA. REPAIRED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND IT CAUSED THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL TO BE IN-OPERABLE AND NEED TO REPLACE THAT. WIPERS ALSO PARK IN UPRIGHT POSITION. NO DEFECT CODES FOUND. *TR
