Power steering was lost while driving, speedometer stopped working and will not shift from low. Other sources say there has been a recall.
I started up my car and it was very hard to turn the wheel easier when I gained speed. The warning said "Power Steering"
For the last several years I have been experiencing loss of the power steering and the electrical just going crazy lights flashing horn blowing. I’ve had a new computer put in and power steering still going out. I looked online and saw there was a recall for power steering motor in cobalt models 2005 through 2010 but when I put in my Vin number, it says my car has no recall. I need to know if there is a power steering motor recall on my car if someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
My mother owned this 2005 chevrolet cobalt 4D (vin # stated above). The power steering seemed to have quit working, as it was very hard to turn the steering wheel. On Dec.28, 2021 she (& my 2 daughters) were turning left & her car was hit by another car on the right front (passenger side), front 1/4 panel. The car was spun around several times. My mother was temporarily knocked unconscience & then came to. Car was totalled out. (Doctor ignored to perform a head scan instead he scanned her back). My mother bled on her brain for 3 months & died. It was very devastating

MY POWER STEERING WILL ALSO GO OUT AS I START THE CAR, FORCING ME TO TURN THE CAR, WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND START IT AGAIN. IT CAN GO ON FOR A WHILE AND MULTIPLE MECHANICS HAVE LOOKED AT THE CAR BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT THEY CAN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE TRAFFIC BARRIER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME I HAVE TRIED TO GET A RESPONSE FROM NHTSA TO REMEDY A ONGOING PROBLEM WITH GM AND THE EPS ISSUES THAT HAS PLAGUED ALL OWNERS OF COBALTS-G5-G6-SATURN ION-ETC. BUT IT IS APPARENT GM IS TURNING A BLIND EYE TO THE PROBLEM. IT IS BLAINTENTLY OBVIOUS WHEN CONSUMERS DO CONTACT GM DIRECTLY THEIR REPLY IS THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. I CAN AS WELL AS OTHERS TESTIFY THAT ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND FORUMS ARE OUT THERE. SO HOW CAN THEY SAY IT IS SOMETHING THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF? IF POWER STEERING COMES ON RIGHT AWAY AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, SHUT OFF, SMACK PASS SIDE OF CENTER CONSOLE, THEN START, USUALLY OFF THEN, BUT IF VEHICLE IS HOT FROM SITTING IN SUN, OR VERY COLD IN WINTER, YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT AND EITHER HEAT IT UP OR COOL IT OFF BEFORE PULLING OVER PARKING AND SHUT OFF FOR 15 MINUTES, THEN HIT IT THEN START IT. TOLD DEALER OF THIS BEFORE P/S RECALL WORK WAS DONE THEY SAID IT WAS NOT RELATED, WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP THEY ASK IF WE WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING AND TRANSMISSION, I SAID YES, THEY SAID OH HAVE A NICE DAY.

I HAD RECALL 10V073000 PERFORMED BY THE DEALER DUE TO NOTICING MY STEERING WAS GETTING TIGHT THEN SLOPPY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MOTOR AND SAID THE SLOP IN THE STEERING WAS A BAD INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. SO I BOUGHT THAT AND HAD IT INSTALLED, NOT AT THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY WHERE RIDICULOUS IN PRICE, AND IT FIXED NOTHING. THERE WAS STILL SLOP AND WANDERING WHILE DRIVING. AFTER A WHILE, MAKING LEFT TURNS I WOULD HEAD A CLUNK AND IT WOULD STILL BE DIFFICULT TO TURN. THEN WHILE MAKING A SLOW LEFT TURN IT WAS REALLY TIGHT AND THEN A LOUD CLUNK THEN THE STEERING BECAME REALLY LOOSE AND THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING UNTIL I TURNED THE WHEEL MORE AND IT FINALLY GRABBED.
