Front headlights dim. Amount of light reflected/projected totally insufficient to drive safely at night. Amount of light reflected fails to illuminate area immediately in front of car. The amount of light actually approximates running lights. I replaced the headlight bulbs but did not solve or even affect the problem. Online research indicates it is not a bulb problem but the reflective coating around the bulb that has burned off on these parts. The fact there is no safety recall on a problem of generating sufficient light to illuminate the area in front of the car at night is shocking. A safety recall is necessary and way overdue.
For years I did not drive at night because I could not see the road well enough to feel secure driving after dark. Fast forward when my daughter asked me if my headlights were on, I realized it was the dim headlights on low beam that was the issue all these years and not my eyesight at night. I have a 2014 Cadillac SRX. Never received a safety notice or recall from GM nor the dealership. This has been proven to be a major GM problem they should be required to fix.
It has been an ongoing issue for years concerning the dimness of the headlights on this vehicle. Virtually impossible to drive at night , can’t even see the lane markings with lights on dim. The cause was determined to be leaky seals creating corrosion. I replaced the bulbs myself and it made no difference. No recall was ever granted in spite of multiple complaints and filings with the NATSA. The Cadillac dealer is aware of the problem but has no authority to replace. I have had to let my relatives know of this issue in the event I were to be involved in a nighttime incident.
While on low beam, the headlights are WAY too dim. Apparently, this is a common and well known problem. I just purchased this car, have replaced the bulbs, checked the voltage and cleaned the lens. I cannot see to drive at night on low beam.
📝 Complaint: 2014 Cadillac SRX Dim Headlights Subject: URGENT SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECT: Severely Dim Headlights on 2014 Cadillac SRX (Affecting 2010-2016 Model Years) – Failure to Act Despite Class Action and NHTSA Complaints Vehicle Information: * Year: 2014 * Make: Cadillac * Model: SRX * VIN [XXX] 4 * Owner/Complainant [XXX] r * Contact [XXX] [XXX] m 1. The Defect and Safety Hazard The headlights on my 2014 Cadillac SRX have become severely and progressively dim, constituting a major safety hazard for night driving. * Hazard: The lack of adequate light output dramatically reduces visibility, compromises the driver's ability to see obstacles, and increases the risk of a severe accident during operation at night, dusk, or in poor weather. This is a critical failure of a core safety component. * Cause: The root cause is a well-documented design flaw in the headlight assembly (affecting 2010-2016 models) that allows moisture...
Headlamps are very weak on low beams.
Safety Defect Remedies on 2014 Cadillac SRX (VIN: [XXX] ) Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing as the owner of a 2014 Cadillac SRX, VIN [XXX] , to address two critical safety defects that I believe are the manufacturer's responsibility to remedy. Water Intrusion and Electrical Failure: My vehicle has a known defect where water from the sunroof consistently leaks into the trunk. This water repeatedly causes electrical damage to the component located under the spare tire. I have personally replaced this component on three separate occasions, only to have it fail again after rain. This recurring failure disables my rear windshield wiper, a crucial safety feature. Driving with my child in the car while unable to clear the rear window is the most unsafe I have ever felt. Dangerously Dim Headlights: The front headlights are dangerously dim and do not provide adequate illumination for safe night driving. This is a...
I noticed that changing out my headlight bulbs on my vehicle that I still could not see at night. I also bought a very good brand / new led lights for my 2014 srx. I have done research and noticed the headlights itself seems to be an issue on a lot of these specific vehicles . It makes it very hard at night to see and honestly makes it very dangerous to drive it darker areas without keeping my brights on .
The low beams on my 2014 Cadillac SRX are useless at night and dangerous. They are not bright enough to illuminate the road. The car cannot be driven at night unless using the high beams. The problem, as I understand it, is that the coating within the headlight assembly degrades over time due to heat. Hundreds of Cadillac owners have complained of this safety issue to Cadillac and the NHTSA, yet no recall has been issued, and dealerships charge $1800+ labor to fix a well-known defect that makes their cars unsafe.
1. Since owning the 2014 SRX the headlights are so dim to the point of not being able to use the vehicle at night or storms for fear of a crash. Now the Driver side HID Has failed along with the headlights housing to be cloudy on the inside. 2.Rear Door Hatch malfunction. Will not open or close with door switch , key fob or button on rear hatch door. I can open manually and close manually however this is a HUGE inconvenience as the rear door is so heavy. I’ve been told by the service department that it’s a design flaw from Cadillac Sunroof drain?
The seals on the factory headlight housings are faulty. They allow moisture into the low beam unit which blocks the light from projecting properly. The car is also safe to drive at night time.
WE OWN A 2014 CADILLAC SRX THAT WE PURCHASED IN 2019. THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY AT NIGHT. OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER SUNSET. THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN RELAYED TO CADILLAC DEALERS AND TO CADILLAC CORPORATE BY THOUSANDS OF OWNERS BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE SINCE 2016. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF SEVERAL CLASS ACTIONS SUITS. THIS ISSUE ON OUR YEAR VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPORTED MORE THAN 300+ TIMES BY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL. NHSTA NEEDS TO COMPEL GM TO ISSUE A RECALL OF THIS SAFETY DEFECT OR INJURIES OR FATALITIES DUE TO THIS SAFETY DEFECT, WHICH IS WELL KNOWN TO CADILLAC WILL BE THE FAULT OF CADILLAC AND NHTSA.
2014 Cadillac SRX - Driver's side headlight does not work properly on Low Beam. While the light burns, it does not shine forward on the road. It is absolutely as if there was no light at all, when driving at night. Took it to 2 different Cadillac Dealers who tried to fix but was told it was impossible to fix without replacing the entire headlight unit at a cost of more than $2,000. I had this same problem with my 2011 Cadillac SRX, and it was recalled & replaced for free, but there is no recall on the 2014 model - except (I was told) in California. Can't drive at night as a result without driving with High Beam. This is a very dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that the headlights failed to provide adequate illumination while driving at night without warning. The contact stated that the high-beam headlights were needed while driving at night. The dealer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was later informed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the contact became aware that the passenger’s side headlamp was not functioning. Upon replacing the headlamp, the headlamp failed to function properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000.
Projection lense for low beam is very dim. Unable to see road work low beam head light
Running lights (low beans) can not be used. They are on, new, and adjusted properly. I have to drive with high beams on to see at night.
Headlights I been calling GM for years that you can’t drive with the low beam headlights at night it’s like having no headlights on . They say nothing no safety recall and I have read up on this issue and they say the halogen bulb gets so hot it burn the inside of headlight assembly and I would think this would be a safety recall . I hope you can help thanks [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving at night, the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover a portion of the repair cost. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The headlights on Cadillac SRX are defective and Cadillac will not have a recall. The lights are so dim I have to drive with my brights on, which is dangerous to other drivers. If I do not use the high beams, I am not able to see what is on the side of the road at night. There could be a person, other vehicle, etc. Therefore an accident could occur or someone could be injured. Cadillac was assisting with repair costs but that ended a couple years ago and I did not know about it as I did not receive a letter. This is a known defect and many people have expressed concern (I found a forum discussion online regarding this issue). My dealer has quoted a price of $2131.39 to replace the headlight assembly. I would appreciate review of this safety issue with this vehicle.
The headlights are so dim that the Cadillac SRX is unsafe to drive at night. The dealer says that it is a known defect but will only give a small discount to replace the headlight assemblies. These cars are unsafe at any speed ! This car has been garage kept and is very low mileage. Please respond to this. Thanks !
I CAN NOT SEE OUT OF MY HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO DIM. SEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS IS A PROBLEM CADILLAC KNOWS ABOUT FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR, THEY HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND DO NOT HAVE A RECALL! IT IS DUE TO THE HOUSING ON LIGHTS THEY GET MOISTURE IN AND IT MAKES THE BULBS DIM. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS $2000 PLUS. CURRENTLY I CAN NOT DRIVE MY VERY EXPENSIVE CADILLAC AT NIGHT WITHOUT THE BRIGHTS ON!
Hello, problem is with the headlights being too dim for nighttime driving. Cannot travel safely most roads at night without turning on the highbeams. Reported issue to the local Cadillac dealer service center and was advised headlights would need total replacement as it is a known issue.
Low beam headlights to dim to drive...very dangerous and gm is aware of the defective headlights
the headlights on this vehicle are so dim that i ran over a large deer carcass in the middle of the highway at night. by the time i saw the carcass in the middle of the road, i was already on top of it!!!!!!!!!!! i couldn't use my brights because i was meeting another vehicle. anyway, the headlights on this vehicle are pure garbage and there needs to be a recall on these lights. this is a major safety hazard for myself and other drivers on the highway. i have no time to use my brakes before an accident will occur with debri or an animal crosing the road. very disappointed that this is not recalled yet!!! do something about this now!!!!!
The headlights on this vehicle are extremely dim and it is unsafe to drive at night without running the high beam lights all the time. This is a huge safety issue that needs to be addressed by cadillac and the lawsuit that was brought against them. All vehicles need to be recalled for the headlights immediately.
Headlights extremely dim.Replacement of lights didn’t improve. I can only drive during the day. I can only drive with high beams if I had to drive at night or early morning. GMC made an offer to replace lights with same defective system & wanted a claim & release signed. For me not to be any part of legal proceedings against them.
Most owners complain to Cadillac but not to NHTSA Cadillac is aware. Low beam headlights on these vehicles are un safe. Especially in drizzle or darkness. This should be urgent!!!! Head light bulb is so hot, it burns the chrome plating off the inside of the headlight assembly. Once chrome is gone, so is the reflectivity needed to project the light through the magnifier and on to the street. Extremely dangerous situation.. This problem has been confirmed and is well known by the manufacturer. This puts everyone in and around the SRX in grave danger. This has been inspected by many mechanics. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS https://youtu.be/i7GKpCgAee0
The headlights are not bright enough to see the road when on regular setting> The only way to see the roads at night is to drive wit lights on high beam. I have replaced the bulbs, and they are still weaker than the turn signals.
The headlights are so dim they were replaced by GM On the 2014&2015 SRX I bought this car used and the GM dealer never said there was an issue with the headlamps. This vehicle cannot be driven at night!!!
Low beam headlights have become exceedingly dim. This car is available for inspection. Poor visibility at night is a safety risk. This problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. I am not now driving the car at night. The car has not been inspected by others. I plan on consulting the dealer shortly. No warning messages now or prior to noticing the problem. First noticed in late June, 2022.
Purchase the vehicle less than a month ago, drove it for the first time at night and the headlight visibility was horrible.it was so horrible it scared the s*** out of me!! I had to pull over and wait till day light. I was afraid I was gone get hit or I was gone hit some one.what a scary situation. I am so disappointed in GMC and Cadillac!! People lives are in DANGER!!!! Please HELP!!!!
THE HEADLIGHT HAVE BECOME SO DIM I CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE AT NIGHT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ARTICLES/LAWSUITS REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED.
I've had my 2014 Cadillac SRX for a little over a year and had a dealership run the VIN to ensure this particular vehicle had no issues. A couple of months ago, I was returning from a late night assignment and after leaving the city limits realized I couldn't see. I was on a 4 lane mountainous road. At a traffic signal I pulled into the turn of road and flashed the lights to make sure they were on. I had approximately 5 more miles to go and started wondering how I was going to get home since I couldn't really see the road. I started to call the police but decided not to -- I'm new to the area, it's rural and I'm and AA woman over 55 years old -- too many variables not in my favor. So I started praying, drove in the on the white line...
There appears to be a known issue with 2010-2016 Cadillac SRX models related to defective seals on the headlights that allow moisture to accumulate and condense, therefore damaging and dimming the headlight bulbs. My vehicle is a 2014 model and has recently been afflicted with this problem. The light quality has degraded so completely that I cannot drive the vehicle at night. In my research, it appears that this is a known and frequent issue with the 2010-2016 models. Apparently there have been class action lawsuits in the past and the manufacture at one point had a reimbursement program but that has since expired and the dealerships are instructed to simply replace the bulbs and reflectors, NOT actually repair the seal problem. ie. The issue will only repeat itself, particularly in warm Florida climates. Itr is my hope and others that a formal recall should be issued for adequate replacement...
The headlights on my 2014 Cadillac SRX are unusable because they are so dim. I am at the point where I don’t drive at night. Although I did try putting new bulbs in that did not fix the problem. There is some defect in the lens, reflector, or housing. Not being able to see the road at night is a huge safety concern and running with my hi-beams on all the time is a safety concern for other motorists. I have done a little research and it would seem this is a very wide spread problem and not specific to my vehicle. I noticed it when I first purchased the vehicle used in 2018 but has continually degraded every since to the point I am at now where I can’t even tell if my headlights are even on.
Factory headlights have bulbs that are known to be too hot and many owners have dim issues on low beams - we can’t drive safely at night or early am as our drivers side headlight is not reflecting any light to the road and dim on passenger side. The issue we are told is the bulbs heat has caused burning to the assembly and dulls the projected light. There was a reimbursement some for California owners but not nationwide. Complete assembly replacements are needed and cost will be about $1300-$1500. We have to turn on high beams to see to drive at night…very unsafe.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving the headlights were dim. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 85,560.
The low beam headlights provide very little illumination. Driving this vehicle at night is a safety hazard due to low light illumination. As a result, I use the high beams for better illumination coverage at night or under low light conditions. This problem is progressive and has degenerated over time. The vehicle was taken to a dealership and local repair shop. Replacing the headlight assembly was the final solution from both mechanics ($2000 repair) which is temporary as the problem will reoccur. The low beam reflective lamp housing is scorched or deteriorated due to high halogen bulb heat. I was not involved in any accidents concerning this issue. Driving this vehicle with the low beams on is like having no lights on at all.
The seals on the headlights let moisture in, causing the lights to be dim.
Headlights are so dim that you cannot see to drive at night or after dusk. I have to use the high beams in order to drive at night, so I drive with the high beams, then other drivers are flashing their lights at me to dim my lights, I can’t believe there is no recall on this problem because if there is a safety problem, it would be driving at night and not being able to see where you are going. I also noticed that of all the complaints about this year, make and model, 90% of all complaints were this same problem. Come on nhsta recall this problem!
Class action lawsuit was file for headlights that go dim after life of the vehicle. I never received letter in regards to lawsuit and dealer will not help to replace headlights. This should be a recall headlights are very important dealer and manufacture are aware of this headlight issue because of the class action lawsuit they settled. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL HEADLIGHTS GO DIM NO VISIABILITY AT NIGHT!!!! Manufacture recommends to replace out of pocket expense to consumer knowing it is a manufacture defect on their part. No accident but many close calls.
The original factory headlights (low beams specifically) are not bright enough to safely drive at night. We have attempted to just replace the bulbs to stronger LEDs but it resulted in such a minimal change - indicating a larger issue. There are several online accounts of the same issue with no sort of recall.
My 2014 (bought 2017) Cadillac SRX headlights are inadequate for night vision. I don't want to drive at night. The lights are too dim to be safe. When I went on online, I found about 30 people with the same problem on CarComplaint.com and GM is not helping us.
I have has headlight problems since 2014. Replaced bulbs, no difference. I have to drive with high beam on at night. Dealer can only replace with same problem type lights. GMC knows of the problem. There is no permanent repair for the issue.
The low beam headlights have become so dim that they are virtually useless for night driving. The only way I can drive after dark is with the brights which creates a safety blinding hazard for oncoming vehicles. In going on line I have found this has been an ongoing problem for several years but GM or Cadillac Motors has never announced a recall. The problem is not the bulb or even the globe.
My car is undriveable after sunset because of low beam dim headlights. My car is a 2014 Cadillac SRX with 74971 miles. I've had a estimate of $1763.24 to fix problem at Labadie Cadillac in Bay City, MI. After investigation this has been a problem known to you for years, I don't understand why a safety recall has not already been ordered against GM, we can't see where we're going at night, that sounds like a safety problem to me. I know GM has paid for repairs after class action lawsuits, but why wasn't a safety recall ordered by you?
The stock halogen headlights (low beams) are so dim you can't tell if they are on or not. New halogen bulbs did not help. I replaced them with LED units at my own expense.
Since we moved to the East Coast, four years ago, the headlights on the 2014 SRX have slowly dimmed until they are completely ineffectual. When looking out the front window on a dark road, there is only a very dim, barely perceptible, lightening of the road directly in front of the car when the headlights are turned on. When approaching another car, the headlights resemble running lights or parking lights and could easily be overlooked in snow or heavy rain. Similar complaints are everywhere online, some indicating that internal Cadillac service memos cite defective seals that allow moisture to enter and corrode the whole light housing and that the only fix is replacing both the light assemblies for $2000...WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART! $2000 represents close to 13% of the Kelly Blue Book Value of the car. For a few months, coinciding with the initial Covid outbreak, Cadillac offered some...
Unable to see safely driving at night especially during rainy or snowy driving. Headlamps are so dim my automatic high beams go on constantly even when opposing traffic are coming towards me. I purchased the Cadillac used 2021. I called the Cadillac dealer they stayed Cadillac used to reimburse owners prior to last year. I cannot afford $3400 for replacing the headlamps! This is putting my family and opposing traffic at high risk for an accident.
