NHTSA Complaint #11465720 — 2014 CADILLAC SRX

I've had my 2014 Cadillac SRX for a little over a year and had a dealership run the VIN to ensure this particular vehicle had no issues. A couple of months ago, I was returning from a late night assignment and after leaving the city limits realized I couldn't see. I was on a 4 lane mountainous road. At a traffic signal I pulled into the turn of road and flashed the lights to make sure they were on. I had approximately 5 more miles to go and started wondering how I was going to get home since I couldn't really see the road. I started to call the police but decided not to -- I'm new to the area, it's rural and I'm and AA woman over 55 years old -- too many variables not in my favor. So I started praying, drove in the on the white line in the center of the highway because I couldn't see the edges. It took me quite a while driving at 15 mph to make it home. By the time I arrived home I was shaking like a leaf in the wind. I have never felt so scared and unsafe in my life. I actually went to my eye doctor again because I thought I was having eye issues since I wear contacts. Then I thought well maybe I just can't drive at night anymore. I discovered neither were an issue. I stopped by the local Cadillac dealership to have the lights checked. I happened to mention to the service guy my incident on the road and he proceeds to inform me that the headlights on this SRX has issues but there is no recall. I researched this on the internet later and discovered the stories of so many others in my same situation. Supposedly GM issued a letter to owners a couple of years ago but has followed done little follow through with reimbursements. I am appalled considering that this is clearly a safety issue. However, two lawsuits were filed in 2017 and 2019. Is NHTSA going to demand that GM conduct a recall? Headlights are a safety necessity and required by law. I now have to replace the headlights in order to drive at night and in bad weather.
