SINCE I BOUGHT MY TRUCK I HEARD A WEIRD NOISE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL I THOUGHT WELL MAYBE BECAUSE IM NOT USED TO IT BECAUSE BEFORE I WAS DRIVING AN NISSAN X-TERRA 2002. SO IM A WOMEN DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS SO I SAID IT LOOKS GOOD IT WAS FROM ONLY ONE OWNER BEFORE SO I THINK WE ARE GOOD. AFTER 66,000 MILES OF EASY DRIVING, OUR 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE HAS A BROKEN WAVE PLATE AND NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION! THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAUSED TWO SEPARATE DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATIONS, ONE OF WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. THE FIRST EVENT OCCURRED WHEN STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I HAD TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. WHEN THE INTERSECTION CLEARED, I BEGAN TO MAKE THE LEFT TURN, BUT THE ENGINE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND MERELY COASTED INTO THE LANE OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE 7-YEAR-OLD CHILD SITTING THERE WERE LEFT EXPOSED TO THE THREAT OF IMPACT BY FAST-APPROACHING TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT 2 SECONDS, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AND WE WERE ABLE TO LEAVE THE INTERSECTION MOMENTS BEFORE ON-COMING TRAFFIC ARRIVED. THE SECOND EVENT OCCURRED TWO DAYS LATER. TRAVELING 45-50 MPH ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE SLIPPED GEARS AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT...

ENGINE LOST POWER...ON INTERSTATE 90 GOING 70MPH....TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND ENGINE REVVED UP BUT NO POWER TO THE WHEELS....I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR FROM THE PASSING LANE TO RIGHT LANE THEN ON TO SHOULDER OF ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING A GREAT DEAL AS WELL....CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO A BUICK DEALER IN ROCHESTER, NY AWAITING A CALL....FROM THE INTERNET READINGS EXPECT THE PROBLEM TO BE THE WAVE PLATE AND TRANSMISSION TO THE TUNE OF $4000....I PLAN TO ESCALATE THIS PROBLEM TO THE HIGHEST LEVELS AT GM AS THE FAILURE WAS VERY SCARY BEING ON THE NYS THRUWAY DRIVING AT 70MPH *JS
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN I FELT MY STEERING WHEEL GO STIFF AND MY RPM GAUGE DROPPED. I TRIED PULLING OVER BUT HAD PROBLEMS TURNING THE WHEEL. THAT IS WHEN I REALIZED MY ENCLAVE HAD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND HIT THE BRAKES TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WHERE I THEN RESTARTED IT. THAT WAS 2 DAYS AGO. TODAY I WENT TO START IT FOR WORK AND FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 2 MONTHS IT WOULD NOT START. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE BATTERY AS WELL AS THE CONNECTIONS CHECKED WITH NO WRONG FINDINGS. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 4 MONTHS! I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THERE IS A 'SERVICE BULLETIN' POSTED IN THEIR REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE "MANY PEOPLE" WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NOT A...
HAVE AN 2008 ENCLAVE AT 73, 300 MILES AND SUDDENLY IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS STALLING OR STICKING. WON'T REVERSE AND THE TRANSMISSION ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE ENGINEER WAS SHAKING AND NOISE. *TR
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
THIS CAR HAS A WHINNING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN THAT GETS LOUDER THE MORE DRIVE IT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BUICK CARE DEPT AND THEY INDICATED IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. THEY HAD ME TAKE MY CAR TO THE BUICK PLACE WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY COME UP WITH ABOUT 1900.00 TO FIX THIS AND SAY THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE BUICK STEERING THAT SOME HOUSING IS TOO CLOSE TO THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT CREATES THE NOISE AND STEERING PROBLEMS AND THAT BUICK AND EVERYONE ELSE IS AWARE OF IT AND THAT THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL BUT DO NOT. IN ADDITION I HAVE ENGINE STALLING PROBLEMS WHERE THERE IS LACK OF POWER UPON SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. *TR
MY TWO CHILDREN AND I WERE TRAVELING ON A HIGHLY ELEVATED RAMP BETWEEN MAJOR HIGHWAYS IN SAN ANTONIO (281 AND 1604) WHEN MY CAR NO LONGER WOULD MOVE INTO A HIGHER GEAR AND SUDDENLY STALLED AT ITS CURRENT SPEED. THE ENGINE ROARED, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER. THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME, AS I UNEXPECTEDLY WAS NOT INCREASING SPEED AS ONE WOULD TYPICALLY DO ENTERING A HIGHWAY. IT WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING TO ALL THREE OF US (ESPECIALLY MY 9 YEAR OLD) AND REQUIRED OUR EXITING THE HIGHWAY IMMEDIATELY. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, AND WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM QUICKLY, BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN A FREQUENT REPAIR. THE "WAVE PLATE" FAILURE LED TO THE FAILED TRANSMISSION WITH ADDITIONAL ENGINE PROBLEMS. THE BILL EXCEEDS $6000. BOTH THE NEAR ACCIDENT AND COST HAVE BEEN HIGHLY STRESSFUL. WE...
WE BROUGHT THIS CAR FROM LANDERS FORD COLLIERVILLE IN 19APR13 AND I HAVE HAD TO GET THE BRAKES REDONE, AND A VALVE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER FIXED. BUT WE WENT TO SUNRISE GMC ON 28JUN13 AND THEY ADVISED US THAT WE NEED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION IN THE CAR DUE TO A CRACK IN SOME PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVEN'T HAD THE CAR THAT LONG AND NOW IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. LANDERS FORD KNEW THAT CAR HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MY 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE RPMS WOULD RACE UP BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE AIR CONDITIONER ALSO QUIT WORKING AT 39,000 MILES BUT I WAITED UNTIL THIS BREAKDOWN TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE COOL SEASON.
