Bulletin Summary
Some 2016 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04E3 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after reprogramming the PCM software for various reasons. Vehicles built on or after 11-Nov-2015 are not equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor (CRNKCSVT). This DTC may be caused by incorrect PCM programming. To correct the condition, start a new vehicle session and run the PCM Programmable Module Installation (PMI). The IDS scan tool will ask to verify the style of the connector on the crankcase vent (CCV) hose. Answering this prompt incorrectly will cause DTC P04E3 to be stored in the PCM. A new Technical Support Video has been added to PTS at: http://site-307934.bcvp0rtal.com/detail/videos/303---engine/video/6294017439001/p04e3-after-pcm-reprogramming-on-14-16-my-6.7l-super-duties.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
