Technical Service Bulletin SSM 49844 — 2016 FORD F-250 SD

Some 2016 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine built on or before 15-Feb-2016 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P054F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be caused by the torque converter one way clutch. To correct the condition, perform the torque converter stall speed test. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 307-01B > Special Testing Procedures > Stall Speed Test. For this specific condition, the line pressure test is not required prior to performing the stall speed test. If engine stall speed does not reach the minimum RPM range specified, replace the torque converter, torque convertor hub seal, and fluid filter. Perform the transmission fluid cooler backflushing and cleaning procedure and refill the fluid. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01B.
