NHTSA Complaint #11715260 — 2015 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH or less while in 5th or 6th gear, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 1st gear. The “WRENCH” warning light was illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle to turn off the warning light. The contact called a certified Ford mechanic and was informed that the lead frame and valve body had failed. The mechanic stated that the valve body, lead frame, and sensor needed to be replaced. The mechanic also informed the contact that it was a common issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was made aware that the failure was related to NHTSA Open Investigation Number: EA26001 (Power Train). The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
