NHTSA Complaint #11706478 — 2015 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and the brake pedal went down to the floorboard. The contact stated that the next day, the low brake fluid warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a brake hose failure. The contact was informed that the brake hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact paid out of pocket for the repair. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.
