NHTSA Complaint #11702427 — 2024 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, the RPM became elevated. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The contact then turned off the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle started. In addition, the contact stated that the failure occurred once while attempting to drive forward from a stop light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that due to the failure, the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased to transport an elderly parent. The contact stated that the failure began one month after the vehicle was purchased, and the vehicle should not have been sold because of the unrepaired recall. In addition, the contact stated that the dealer had declined to schedule an appointment to service the vehicle, and the contact was informed that the parts were not available. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V766000 (Engine); however, the parts for the recall repair were unavailable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
