Consumer Description
• Component/System: The high-voltage battery system in the plug-in hybrid propulsion system is subject to an active safety recall related to potential fire risk. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. • Safety Risk: The manufacturer has instructed owners not to charge the vehicle near structures and to park it away from buildings due to the risk of battery fire. This creates an ongoing safety concern because normal charging and garaging cannot be performed safely, altering how and where the vehicle can be operated and stored. After speaking with my homeowners insurance, if the home were to catch fire through this vehicle, the claim would be denied because there is an active recall stating not to charge the vehicle. • Reproduction/Confirmation: The condition has been confirmed by the manufacturer through the official recall notice. The dealer has not attempted a repair because no remedy is currently available. Despite visiting the dealer, the dealer still states not to charge the car in the house. • Inspections by Others: The vehicle has not required inspection by police or insurance representatives. The issue is acknowledged by the manufacturer as part of the recall, and no repair procedure has been released to dealers. • Warning Lamps/Symptoms: There were no specific warning lamps prior to receiving the recall notice. The issue was identified by the manufacturer and communicated through recall notification rather than a driver-observed failure. The recall notice is the first indication of the problem.
