Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start as needed, with the "Service 4WD" warning light illuminated. The contact's son took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where a scanner was used, and DTC: C14A7-97 was retrieved for an issue related to the power transfer unit. The contact called the dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then provided with an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
