NHTSA Complaint #11677226 — 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the Electronic Throttle Control warning light illuminated on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH off an exit ramp, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the RPMs increased, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the failure had mainly occurred while driving between 2nd and 3rd gear, and between 1st and 2nd gear. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
