The contact stated while the vehicle was at the independent mechanic for a service appointment, the contact was informed that the oil pump housing had melted and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the oil pump housing was made of plastic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
