The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.
