NHTSA Complaint #11658993 — 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 - 65 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate and independently shifted to neutral, causing the vehicle to fail to accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The mechanic retrieved NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (Power Train) from the website. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,500.
