NHTSA Complaint #11650588 — 2023 CHEVROLET EQUINOX

The fuel pump on my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox began malfunctioning on [XXX] when the check engine light came on. Less than 24 hours later, the light went out. On [XXX], while leaving a CVS pharmacy, the vehicle jerked, then the engine shut off. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on. On [XXX], the check engine light illuminated again. While sitting at a stop light in the turn lane, as I began to push the accelerator, the vehicle once again jerked and the engine shut-off, almost causing the vehicle behind me to collide. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way. On 3/21/25, I took the car to the local Chevrolet dealership (Integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga, TN). After inspecting the car, the dealer informed me the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel pump module was bad and had to be replaced. The service manager agreed this failure was not the result of operator error and should NOT have failed after only 2.5 years of normal use. The conditions/symptoms are almost exactly the same as those described in GM recall notice N222372310 (dated 5/23/23).
