NHTSA Complaint #11649744 — 2020 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle, the driver's side door squeaked with an abnormal popping and metallic sound while opening and closing the door. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling or stopped, the engine made abnormal sounds while the vehicle surged forward, and the vehicle turned off before the contact continued driving. The window failed to lower and raised upwards intermittently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the door had a hairline-sized fracture and needed to be replaced. The door was replaced 3 times under warranty; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 26,342.
