NHTSA Complaint #11648121 — 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving around a corner, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact continued depressing the accelerator to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and the engine seized. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with bearing failure. The contact then towed the vehicle to the residence. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,336.
