NHTSA Complaint #11644849 — 2016 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the check transmission warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was shaking abnormally, and the transmission was shifting hard. The contact stated that the failure was recurring. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission was difficult to shift into reverse(R). The contact stated that the transmission was also slipping out of gear. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the shift actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 111,700.
