NHTSA Complaint #11644802 — 2015 FORD EXPLORER

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V031000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the front passenger's side and driver's side windshield exterior A-Pillar trims had detached and were flapping while driving. The contact stated that the failure had caused water to leak into the vehicle. The contact stated that there was water leaking into the infotainment system, onto the phone charging area, and onto the floor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was confirmed that there was no water damage inside the vehicle. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that unknown steering components located underneath the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
