NHTSA Complaint #11640915 — 2015 CHRYSLER 200

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of a large puddle of oil on the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil cooler housing had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to Midas, where the oil cooler housing was replaced. Additionally, the mechanic replaced the gaskets. The contact stated that after an oil change was performed on the vehicle, there was a strong oil odor observed. The vehicle was taken to Goodyear Tires, where the contact was informed that the oil cooler housing had leaked a significant amount of oil onto the engine. The mechanic cleaned off the oil. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
