NHTSA Complaint #11640502 — 2010 FORD FUSION

The contact's friend owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his friend was driving 30 MPH and attempting to slow down, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The driver was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop by engaging the parking brake. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the hydraulic control unit. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brake, Hydraulic); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 182,500.
