NHTSA Complaint #11636030 — 2017 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine made an abnormally loud rattling sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under Ford Campaign Number: 21N03 because the campaign had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
